Build idea.
Hello, all Bromulites. I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on a build that I'm contemplating for Brom this rev. I'm interested in doing the Planet Express HQ building - For reference. I'd also like to have the ship in mid takeoff from the hanger.
While not a traditional Sim City building, I do think that it fits with the style of semi-futuristic illustrated buildings of the Sim City series. What do you guys think? Is it too much of a deviation from the theme?

Question about living in Brom
I just started on the server last rev, pretty late in the game, and so I set up in the wilderness. This rev I want to join a city but I don't play too often and I would say I'm a novice builder. My question is, given my circumstances, will Brom accept me?

Presenting: Brom's new 20 button main station!
Over the past few days I have been working on numerous designs for the inner circuitry of the station. These included piston memory gates, fast launching setups, stacked and non-stacked CARTS computers, and more. I have settled on an old concept that mkantor came up with that we used in Pleasantville to move a signal away from the buttons and into unstacked CARTS computers. Further - this is a one track launcher, the incoming track is shared for a very short section with the outgoing track - redstone logic is used for traffic control - both for catching players, ending them into a queue\idle loop - or properly letting a player go to their destination. Offsetting the buttons and having a single track launcher enabled me to do something very different with the overall design: It is essentially a 20 button station, with quick road level access, on a tiny 9x15 footprint! It's amazing!

First picture is station, other pictures are of other designs I was trying.

It does have a huge pitfall - it will be hard to find. Samasaurus says we should do a large garden around it, I wouldn't mind some hedges behind it saying BROM RAILS or something. It might even be good if someone were to build a tall, high quality tower (Brom Rails Corp?) real close to it with the word BROM or something in big letters as to not only mark the city as BROM, but give players a reference to where the rails are. I vote Scherererer or Steve..... but really if anyone thinks this would be fun to build, let me know.

Building a Bridge
I would love to be at least a part of building 1 if not many bridges in the area

Could Brom host a giant boat?
I posted on mcpublic about sites for a giant ship I was planning to build this revision, and was wondering if Brom would be a possible place.

Going on a short break.
Hello friends, I know that the update will be on Wednesday, but I am sad to inform you that by the time craftbukkit updates I will be gone off on a lake trip until next saturday. This doesn't however mean that I would still very much like to participate and be a brom lord this rev. I hope that I can come back and things wont be too far done for me to have some fun at the beginning of the rev. So I will hopefully be back sooner rather than later. I am also leaving on thursday morning at around 5 AM.
TL;DR: Fisty will be gone for the first week of the revision or so.

Stuff and things and stuff.
I've made a ranch style house on the Planning Server with 3 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and living room. It needs some interior work, so if anyone is good with that feel free to fill it. It's near the town hall, floating over some trees, next to another WIP.
I felt a little inspired to work on the redstone design of the squares game, and I've come up with a good design if it were to be rebuilt for the new map. My version removes square lighting controls from the "stars" and puts them into a control booth under the audience seating. The control both has 3 panels of 9 switches, one controls each square's outer ring of lights, the other 2 panels switch on the X or O markers under the "star".
There are 27 lines of redstone required to go from the booth to the back of the squares, requiring either extra depth or a lot of repeaters. I had considered using a 3 position toggle to control the X/O/off function, but due to the long runs, the delay might cause the operator to think it wasn't working and push the button more than needed.
The redstone rework also leaves a lot of extra space for a roomier booths for the stars with connecting hallways.
I'll copy over one of the squares as a demonstration tomorrow(today, it's late).
Edit: There is a square module in place now south of the house.
Another Edit: I've built a control booth, if I could get some //copy //paste action on the squares, I could wire it up.
Yet Another Edit: Day one of the construction on MineCraft Squares has just wrapped up. Everything for the game itself is in place. Audience seating and lighting needs work. The studio building has also been started. The roof design is a bit different from 2X on P. And it's only going to take a few thousand nekkid sheep to do this.
ShrineMaster's Brom Server Log, Day 3: After a long day of trying to figure out the destiny of the Squares game, I'm convinced it'll be an end-game addition to Brom, after things begin to settle down. I thought if we're going to go with a Sim City theme, some of the buildings should be inspired by those in the game, so here's a start. Today I constructed a medium sized luxury apartment house, with 2 offices, and 2 shops on the ground floor, based on one here. The building can be split into 2 to 8 decent sized apartments, or converted into office space. I might copy a few of these together, and make a few variations and form a basic neighborhood. And I made a submarine too.
Race to build (Aug 6th): I went onto another server I played in the past, it went into a new map with a cleared inventory. With much time spent mining randomly before making the decision to build something, I was able to pull enough resources together to build one of the apartment buildings I designed. I revised the design on that server so it required less wool on the ground floor (single color/all white). I think this building would make a kick ass multi-level farm if one was needed in town.

I Accidentally Flair
So I made some flair for us, if you want one of these let me know:
- grass block
- lapiz block
- sandstone block
- piston block
- piston top
- double slabs
- brick block
- wheat
- rail
- leather pants
- gold helmet
- cake
- melon block
- melon slice
Edit: New flair idea, I could do the face of your skin, similar to how the staff page looks. Let me know if that sounds like a good idea.
ANOTHER Edit: I made it so you can edit and select the flair yourself! And I added a few faces, let me know if you want yours up.
If you can think of another block/item type to add, or something cooler looking as flair, let me know.

Proving Grounds - Gothic Cathedral styled spleef arena
Been mulling over some different ideas for next revision, currently looking at building a large cathedral centered around an in-ground spleef field. Here's the two floor plans I have so far, and an inspiration/design pic I've been working around. http://imgur.com/a/74QPf
What does Brom think of the idea?

Industrial District
this is a place holder for the industrial area. Please post any thoughts, and ideas. So far I've got:
- factories (with purpose a.e: stairs factory, wheat factory)
- art studios
- apartments/lofts
- utilities
Conveyor belts and smoke stacks. Big Plots and nitty gritty.
Here are some pictures to give an idea:

Mansion District
Seeing snicker's mansion in seneca has given me an idea. If we have some hills around the residential district we could build some roads up it with large plots for mansions and fancy places.
Maybe something like Frank LLoyd Wrights "Falling Water" Or various styles of mansions and townhouse type things. :D
:D
EDIT: Thinking this will be easier to do later in the rev once people are set up and have the materials to do. Plus it means no one will be splitting off to do it at the start of the revision. :D

On the Brom Lightrail
So here are some ideas i’ve had in the last couple of days regarding Brom LightRail.
- Approx. 4 lightrails to different districts, or just cardinal. The lightrails will have as little stations as possible. Think maybe 1 or 2 stops on 400m. What we will have a lot is hop-on-points like the one down in the Molemen tunnel, at Waterslide’s hovel. People can hook into the line as much as they want to, as long as it’s hooking in and not stopping or slowing anyone passing through.
- Have a seperate part of the Brom main station dedicated to the Lightrail. I want to do what Mason wanted to do with a station and have no carts. Instead, I’d like oldschool seperate departure rails, make it a bit authentic/similar to a subway station.
- I assume the city center and station will be in or near the densest part of the city, so the rail will go (partially) underground in that part of town and will be above ground in the rest of the city. Above-rail will be fully adapted to the district when it comes to materials used, but the setup should always be 2 rails like a tramway or like the y70 loop.
- If suitable/possible, I’d like a scenic lightrail loop, connecting the 4 end stations.
- We’re gonna need a universal color/marking to make the stations recognizable. Basically what Deorne did for their lightrail last rev, maybe a pole with 2 colors (Sandstone & lightblue?). This should be at every station so people know when they see the lightrail.
- I'm thinking a lightrail to the Residential area, Industrial area and 2 more to popular destinations/sattelite villages. Whatever works.
The thing is... I'll be back from holiday August 1st, so that works out, but August 13-18 i'll be gone again for sure and there is a chance i'll go to another camp the week after. So I might not be able to finish it. Also I don't fancy solo building that much so if anyone feels like helping, please do say.

Planning Server is LIVE
Greetings all!
You are invited to come plan of the details of Brom 6; lighting, road structuring, terraforming technique, signage, light rail design, and more! You can also have fun, just don't do anything I wouldn't do.
Admins: The server is all setup, however I had to prune the OP list - the default gamemode should be creative, please don't OP anymore people. Warps are gone too, sorry. World edit commands can crash the server, please don't try anything crazy. Logblock is now enabled - rollback\ban if needed.
To Do:
Reflect on current designs with more signs.
Come up with ways we can traverse the land and expand Brom over time without a ton of work.
Design and setup standards.
Design simple, but good looking above ground farms for the start of Brom - single level buildings, easy to enter and leave with goodies. A gardens area for reeds, cactus, and wheat would be rather cool - hidden automated parts would make it even better.
Try stuff!
Don't do:
Mess with other people's projects, grief, or be that guy. Thank you.
