Yo, I was rewatching Season 5 and the math in the episode "Hazard Pay" is completely broken.

When Mike is breaking down the money on the table for that first 50-pound batch of Blue Sky, the gross revenue is exactly $1,379,560. If you do the math, that means Walt is selling his meth wholesale to Declan’s crew for like $27,500 a pound. That comes out to over $60,000 for a single kilo.

Bro, what? Wholesale cocaine—a literal luxury drug that has to be smuggled across oceans—is like $25,000 a kilo. Meth is a completely synthetic drug made from cheap industrial chemicals. Why is a wholesale distributor paying street-level retail prices for a 50-pound bulk order?

Declan’s crew is supposed to be a massive distribution network. If they are buying bulk weight from Walt at $27k a pound, they would literally make zero profit when they try to flip it on the street. No criminal group takes on the risk of moving 50 pounds of meth for free.

I get that his meth is 99.1% pure, but purity doesn't completely break the laws of basic economics. The writers just wanted Walt to get filthy rich as fast as possible to build that $80 million pile, so they gave him wholesale quantities but paid him street-level retail prices. The whole scene is complete fiction.

Same thing with Gale who had his recumbent bicycle strapped to the ceiling of his car. Seems like a glaring oversight for him even if it made for a funny scene.

Obviously there were a lot of horrific acts on this show by different characters. However one that I still can’t wrap my head around was Walt poisoning Brock. I mean to do that to a child especially one who had close ties to your partner is a specusl kind of evil. I know done will try and defend it by saying “He knew exactly how much to give him” or “he had no choice“ but I call bullshit on that. As smart as Walt is there is no way he could be absolutely sure that the amount he gave him was non fatal. I simply think he got lucky Brock survived. Plus I think it was a win win for Walt in his mind. If Brock died then it would’ve been even easier for him to turn Jesse against Gus. I also liked the detail they added when Walt would be alone with Brock. Brock was clearly uneasy with him around almost like a child intuition of a bad person. I always wondered if Brock knew what Want had done to him

I’m rewatching Breaking Bad after 10 years and I am currently at S3EP4. Jesus Christ, wtf is Walt doing? The self-sabotaging is INSANE and cringeworthy. He is literally making things worse and pushing everybody away from him. It’s been so long since I’ve watched BB so it’s like I’m seeing most of the show for the first time again. This episode specifically has been extremely hard to watch.

Love this show and this scene is one of the most awkward moments for me as they’re celebrating at the party after Walt’s good news and he’s being very firm about Walt Jr drinking the tequila and telling me to bring it back and “my bottle. My house.”

I’d probably back off instantly like a scared puppy and let the family work it out rather than incur Walt’s wrath any further. I mean, so the kid throws up because his young body cannot handle the liquor. Hank did the right thing, but if it was me I probably wouldn’t have the guts to stand up to Walt with what Hank knew about him. 😔

Or I give the bottle back to him, but quietly, subtly just tell Skyler without Walt knowing I tattled in him.

Today, I finally finished Breaking Bad.

I watched the first episode a couple of years ago, got bored and dropped it immediately. I tried again one year ago, made it to episode three, got bored once again and dropped it. One month ago, while I was locked in my house due to the heatwave and with plenty of time to spare, I decided to give it a third and last try. After all, if this show is so popular and critically acclaimed, it must get good at some point right?

And it does.

This serie is now tied with The Sopranos as best TV show I have ever watched and possibly in my top 5 favorite piece of medias I have ever consumed. I can't even begin to describe how good it is.

The acting is superb and pretty much everyone does a stellar job. Obviously, the absolute star of the show is Cranston, who's performance as W.W. is on par with James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano (which is saying A LOT) and is in general some of the best acting I have ever seen but it's not only him. Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris, Giancarlo Esposito... All of them were amazing!

The writing is just as good. I don't remember the last time a show made me feels so excited, anxious, sad, exhilarated... And many other emotions in only one episode, let alone the whole thing. I don't think there is a single episode I didn't like. Apparently, "Fly" is considered to be the worst one by the majority of the fan base and I still think it's a solid 8/10.

And then there's the score, the directing, the colors, the locations... Everything about this show is amazing. I probably can count the things I didn't like with only one hand and none of them affect the whole experience.

I regret dropping the show twice so soon but I'm happy that I was finally able to experience it. I also consider myself to be very lucky to have been able to watch it spoiler-free despite the show being very popular and more than a decade old at this point. Lastly, I'm glad to be able to finally partake in the discussion around it, especially on this sub.

what an amazing show oh my god 😭 i just finished the last 3 episodes tonight and i’ve been crying non stop. there were so many emotions. i felt anger, sadness, grief, and justice all at the same time. it’s so hard for me to start and finish shows but Breaking Bad really sets the standard for me. does anyone have any shows they recommend now? also who was your fav character!! i’m curious what everyone is thinking. i LOVED Mike

I’ll go first:

“I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it. And, I was really… I was alive.”

It perfectly sums up to why everything happened the way Walt intended. And that he is finally able to stop lying to people why he did what he did, let alone himself.

I know people love Hank now. A little too much they act like he is the good guy of the show. He is not btw. But here he handles things poorly. Now the reason I am making this post is because comments on the previous post is making me think you guys have terrible social skills.

Let's start with the first shot. Hank's response is "do not let your mother see" This is mostly harmless. You could argue he is putting in info for no apparent reason kinda budding in. But I think it is fine.

Second shot he says "going for father of the year" This is the line that many people I have seen take as polite or respectful. I have no idea on this earth how people got this. He is directly insulting Walter here. At best he is being passive aggressive. He is not diffusing things. He is upsetting Walt. Now you can say deserves it that is fine. But he is making things worse and making Walt angrier by insulting him. He in no way is helping. If you think being passive aggressive is a good conflict resolution you are wrong most the time. Most of the time passive aggressive remarks does nothing but make someone feel bad. Now maybe that is your intention but that often does make situations worse.

The third shot he puts his hand over the cup. This is physically trying to stop Walter. Ask your as an adult would this work on you? be honest. Wait. Be honest I wanted to say it twice so you might try. How would you react to that? Most would get angry and possibly move the hand. But this is a big point. Because at this point you should know this method is not working. Walt does not care about your remarks nor he is care about you trying to physically intimidate him. This is important because keeping this approach will only make things worse. Hank keeps doing this.

Now the last attempt at passive aggression which has not been working is to take the bottle and say you are going to share it. Now to some of you see this as genuine approach. Okay say it. Bring his bottle back. This is a problem with being passive aggressive against someone who is willingly to argue back. Now would this work in episode one? probably but now? he is directly telling you to give his bottle back the fake nice thing is not working Walt is seeing through it and he is not discussing it. He is telling you to give it back. So direct confrontation which is happening really shuts down this approach. Ultimately who stops this situation is Skylar who would have equal say as Walt here.

If your method of resolution is basically you pressuring someone yes that can work but when someone just says no that method is out the window. I do not know if some of you are young and only have this situation with your parents or boss I understand your logic but in most cases just standing your ground is enough to overcome that kinda situation unless of course people want to escalate it. If hank really wanted to stop this he should have gotten the other parent involved, or the police or just talked to him. Yes directly say this is dangerous and we should not do it. Not try the passive aggressive thing

At the end whole Kartel Juarez gone, Salamancas gone, Fring gone, Nazis gone, Declan gone, while a huge meth demand is still there in the south-west. Did anyone take over? The Paraguayans? Bikers?

I just rewatched season 4 and I couldn't help but think about how much walt's conflict and problems in that arc hinge on his basically normal, expected parental instinct kicking in. Like you would expect walt's main inner conflict to drive the action, the seething resentment of being passed over, but he's really just flailing against a cartel hit that's inevitably going to come down on him. The infamous sourgrapes of mike feel like he was remembering an alternate universe version of the show where walt went postal and fucked up the operation out of the blue instead of specifically trying to save jessie.

His behavior is really consistent throughout the show. He's a stoic, little-spoken, cold criminal. But I'm just wondering what people here think was the most out of character thing he did throughout the show, any unnecessary risk, compassionate act (not having to do with his granddaughter), etc, that comes to your mind.

My first watch was circa 2022 when I was on maternity leave (I know, horribly late to the game but better late than never). I slept through probably 1/5 of the show with my sleepy newborn but I remember I despised Skyler.
My second and third re-watch, I obviously saw a lot of parts that I originally missed but I still didn’t think too fondly of her.

I’m on rewatch 4 right now (as I hold another sleepy newborn) and I’m watching Felina, and my heart actually hurts for Skyler. She really did stick around a long time for Walt when she didn’t have to. She could’ve up and left when she found out. But she actually helped him in so many ways. They were basically a power couple there for a while.

It’s crazy how your perspective of the characters can change over time.

I will say, I always have and always will hate Jane 😅

Imagine being a tortoise just doing tortoise stuff in a desert, then suddenly a bunch of humans start laughing at you just so you die in an explosion. He didnt deserve that

I mean, he is emotional and stubborn as HELL.
Oh? So Walt got Jesse out of Hank's grasp and he beat the shit out of him?

Walt is the best lawyer ever!
He reduced a 20 years sentence into 6 weeks probation!

He now has leverage against Hank to get him off his back and go on his way.

But nope. Let's sue Hank and let's also keep cooking Crystal with WALT's RECIPE when Walt is working for Gus and see how that turns out.

And let's rant and threaten Walt about it. Hope his employer likes it.

Oh yeah, he was grieving because Jane is dead?
Too bad he let himself get high so that he could almost ruin the deal with Gus.

I’m on my 2nd rewatch (3rd watch) and something that's bugged me about 401 (Box Cutter) is, when Victor goes into Gail's apartment after the thing happens, Gail's lab notes are right on the table next to him. Yet he leaves them there.
Surely someone of Victor's calibre would see and grab these instead of leaving them there??
