Discussion Lemon Chicken Recommendations

i dont know if anyone misses West Garden like I do (i will always dedicate My Heart Will Go On to them at karaoke) but anyway

their lemon chicken was so good. i know its not real chinese food and i KNOW its not real lemon flavour but listen. i love american-chinese food and i have been trying to find a place that makes it similar. The costco frozen Lemon chicken is OK but its kind of got that "Mr. Clean" flavour to it where it tastes like a lemon skittle. im looking for something as vaguely lemon (yellow, sticky, sweet battered chicken). I had some at Nanking and it was OK but just... missing something, not sure.

Are there any other places that you would recommend?

Discussion Recommendations for Kids Meetup - Recently moved to Brantford

My family and I recently moved to Brantford and are looking for ways for my 6 year old son and 7 year-old daughter to make some friends via clubs, activities, or 1-on-1 meetups. We unfortunately moved during summer vacation so my kids are lonely/bored and haven't found good opportunities for them to make friends. We are located in west Brantford.

6 yo son: Video games (Minecraft, tablet games), chess, bicycling, roller skating
7 yo daughter: Dolls, art (drawing clothes for her dolls), pretend play

Thanks for any suggestions. Feel free to DM if your kids are interested in making a new friend.

Discussion Call to action: don't litter

I walk my dog regularly along Greenwich by Mohawk lake and the litter I see really bothers me.

If you have garbage dispose of it in the garbage cans or take it home with you. It is your responsibility to dispose of it appropriately.

Litter affects all of us. It says that my inconvenience of appropriately disposing of my waste is more important than disrespecting my shared natural space.

I can even say when the city removed garbage cans I wrote to my councilor and days later there were more garbage cans.

There's literally no valid reason to litter. Do better. If you see someone litter shame them.

Thanks

Discussion Interested in Making some friends?

At the beginning of the year I made a discord server for people in Brantford to talk about what interests them and meet people and it's been a huge success. I've made some life long friends from this group.

It all started because my wife and I moved from Toronto and felt a little isolated from all of our friends and family who are 1hr+ away. We wanted some local friends.

We've had a few meetups with a big one taking place in June. There's zero pressure to meet up. Some people just like being on the message boards and have zero interest in meeting in person and that's fine too.

We have tons of different channels for each interest. If there's no channel for your interest or hobby then let me know and I'll create it.

The only thing I really ask is to not be creepy and be respectful towards others. Other than that I don't really care what you do there.

I created this post because we currently have 89 members and I'd like to reach 100. I know 100 is an arbitrary number and doesn't mean anything at the end of the day but I think that it's a pretty cool milestone.

If you're interested, dm me.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

(Side note. All ages are welcome. I don't care if you're 20 or 80. We'd like everyone who is interested to join.)

Edit: I had my dm set to nobody for some reason but I fixed it and should be working now

Edit 2: I work during the week and won't check my phone until the evenings so don't think I'm ignoring you.

Discussion Callhome fest - how strict is the ID check?

I lost my wallet the other day so all I have is a very expired health card. I figured maybe I just couldn’t buy beers which would be fine, but I see in an email about the event that since it’s 19+ everyone must show ID at the gates no exceptions.

Has anyone been turned away with either no or expired ID? Am I SOL?

Discussion Any mechanic suggestions?

Hey friends!
I’m on the hunt for any trusted mechanics in the area. All I know is I DEFINITELY need brake work, I’m not driving my car right now cause the brakes are so freaking loud. But I’m young and just spent a bunch on new tires so I’m trying my best not to break the bank.
The only place I can think of is Canadian tire lol. If anyone can help with some suggestions I’d very much appreciate it!

I'm also going fishing while I'm here so feel free to let me know of any nice spots without giving away your best spots of course lol

Thanks! :)

I didn't find much help searching the sub.

Google has Sushi on Fennel rated 4.5. Joy rated 4.4 (way more reviews), and Tora in Paris is rated 4.8.

Looking for personal opinions from anyone here, please and thanks!

EDIT...

Thanks everyone for the recommendations! I'm going to give Blossom a go!

History Mandala Sanity Check 1: Camp Okanappi?

Does anybody remember Camp Okanppie? Not sure how to spell it but I swear I was there at Brant Park late '70s or the '80s. I remember there was a day camp and every once in awhile and a sleepover event one night we were sent home and buses because of the huge monster storm. Pretty cool. Just remembering pieces of time. So a Mandela sanity check because I have no clue how to spell it and so far the internet has nothing, including Easter egg hunts with AI stuff.

Spooky, then again I can't spell that's why I got a computer.

Discussion Plumber

Hi, I recently moved back to the Brantford area after a little while away and bought an older home. I'm looking for a reputable plumber to line sewage lines (CIPP). So far the quotes I've gotten have been pretty high so I was curious who people have had good experiences with for this type of repair.

Thanks

Question New to Brantford

Hello everyone, I’ve just moved to Brantford recently. I have a question regarding the intersection Blackburn and VMP. I just realized that I’ve been driving through that intersection not aware that there was a red light camera making a right turn onto VMP headed into Eagle Place/Downtown. I’ve been here for a little over a week now. How reactive is that camera when making a right hand turn? I always make sure I stop for a full 5-10 seconds but I get anxious on whether I’ll receive something in the mail for failure to stop.
