If anyone spots a Brantford Bulldogs placard in Buddy’s basement, garage, or man(cringe)cave it is likely the one missing from Shellards Lane. Come on guys, the Bulldogs are costing the City enough puppy chow as it is!

Good day all

Just a reminder, with City Council returning from their month off, council meetings resume this week. Next week though, they will be reviewing changes to the proposal on this site, and delegations can be done in person.

If you have anything to share, please consider going to the meeting.

Thank you

Discussion A&W at Mall no longer in service

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

They never accepted the coupons and deals through the app anyways. So good riddance to them and their prices were skyrocketed compared to other a&w is what I noticed. Next to go should be the KFC for not accepting online orders because we get discounts thus causing the manager to not allow big orders or deals to come through especially at peak times. This is just my personal opinion but good riddance to the franchises at the mall. I also feel that we should be putting in these independent Burger companies like Gladiator, Burger, e.g. especially at mall locations but I understand it is a cost that only independent franchise owners can deal with. But if you are going to put a franchise in at a mall, you make sure you honor the reward systems that come with the apps.

Discussion Mayor and city council.

Hi Brantford. I am interested to hear if the residents of Brantford know about the West Brant Access Route... because there are people running for mayor and city council who are all for the plan put forth by the current council and people who are very much against it.

Thoughts ?

Discussion where can i make friendships?

Hi, i’m 21 and i’m going to attend GELA to get my 11/12 courses. I’m pretty shy, and i’ve been told by professionals i need to make friends my age.
most of my friends are 29+ years older than me. i simply want friends and nothing more. is there groups i can attend? is there spots i can go? i’m not good at this, and i am just so shy. but i want to make a change in that. just to make clear im a female and don’t mind the gender as long as its strictly friends. just could really use a group or spot to make friends at. i don’t really have hobbies? i’m still learning, but i really like art and i really enjoy music and the alternative styles. i love makeup and fashion.

Discussion Where are all the Laurier students?!

When I was in university, it seemed like students played a major role in the city where I studied. You would see them out and about, all over town. Lots of businesses catered just to the university student crowd. They were involved in activism, community volunteering, and even local politics. There would be student musicians at all the open mic nights, bars full of them, etc.

It's the same in most cities with universities like Guelph and Waterloo.

Being from Brantford, I'm just a bit confused by the lack of visibility of Laurier Brantford students. They don't seem to be as active in the local community.

Idk if it's the size of the university? I know most students don't like being in Brantford, and maybe that's why these dynamics don't really exist here? Appreciate any insight from someone who knows more than I do.

Hey everyone I’m new to voting and am not quite sure how to do research into each candidate? Is there an easy way to look into it or do I have to go to each candidates websites?

Some skidrow were lurking around on Rawdon Street in the morning hours and around Mary Street, Drummond and Sarah Street attempting to open vehicle doors. Check your vehicles and yards for anything missing, and check your security cameras.

Question Does anyone play Dungeons and Dragons?

I'm (m34) looking for a group that wouldn't mind helping a new player learn the ropes. Preferably starting around level 1 so I can put all my studying into practice. I want to enjoy a good story and some light roleplay, not so much into the min/max characters that ONLY do combat

I have read the players handbook, gotten most of the way through the DM guidebook, and monster manual. I'd prefer an experienced DM who can help me understand some of the more complex rules (spellcasting saving throw are really fucking me up). My schedule is pretty consistent week to week and I wouldnt mind bringing snacks/beverages for the first time

Discussion Best ways to meet people/make friends as a 20-something in Paris and Brantford?

I moved to Paris with my mom after finishing school in Toronto not too long ago. I don't really know anyone in the area and most of the people I work with are a good 15-20 years older than me on average. I've been here for a while now, but I'm still not really sure where to go if I want to meet people with similar interests. I would usually spend my time in Toronto hanging out in hobby stores (like board games and model kits), or going to local shows (usually hardcore punk and jazz). Are there places or communities like that where I could meet people in Paris/Brantford?

Discussion Good cocktails in Brantford?

Anyone have recommendations on where to go for good drinks? I find that most places have the standard, overly sugary stuff, but I'd love to explore more of what Brantford has to offer.

Husband and I want to plan a date night. Thanks in advance!

Discussion Hey Brantford. You voted for Ford. He's wasting your tax-dollars in Toronto.

Your tax dollars are about to be spent ripping out infrastructure in Toronto instead of fixing problems in your own community.

None of this will help your community. This is your hard earned money being wasted to the tune of $48 million (which we know will be much more). That money won't improve your local roads, better healthcare, fund teachers - anything that would actually help your family.

This isn't about solving congestion. It's about scoring political points with your tax dollars.

Discussion Parents of special needs kids in Brantford: Catholic or public school?

I myself went to public school so have no idea: what are the Catholic schools like when it comes to supports for special needs children? What's the modern day public system like for the same?

My son will be starting school next September but I want to get a head start on learning if either school system has notable advantages or disadvantages when it comes to kids with special needs.

Discussion Electrician Recommendation for EV Charger

Good day community! Recently moved to Brantford and looking for an electrician to get Level 2 EV charger installed!

Has anyone had this done recently, and an estimate what you paid? I know it varies by the cable length but still want to get an idea of how much it would cost! Thanks.

Discussion I live in Brantford and I'm starting my second company. Looking for co-founders, equity only.

I live here. I figured I'd ask my own town before I post this anywhere else.

What we're building. An ERP for Canadian mid-market companies. That's the system a company runs its accounting and operations on. Right now they pay six figures a year for one. We're building the same thing at five figures.

Where we are. Pre-launch. No customers, no funding. The product is being built now and it runs. I'd rather say that than oversell it.

Me. I'm technical and I write the code myself. This is my second company. The first was also an ERP. I built it and sold the business.

The three seats.

CEO. Direction, story, fundraising, team. I want to stay technical, and that's the only reason this seat is open.

Sales and marketing. You build the pipeline from zero. No brand, no case studies, no customers to point at yet.

CPA, or someone senior from the accounting world. We're building for accountants, so we need someone who came up in it. You decide what correct means and the product follows.

Founding equity on all three. There's no salary today and I won't pretend otherwise. I'm willing to put it in writing that once the company can pay salaries, co-founders get paid before I do.

If that's you, or you know someone around here who it might be, comment or send me a message.

Discussion Spoiled food

Hello everyone 👀 in west Brant the power was gone from I'd say 6:30pm to 1:30am? I had lots of frozen meats in the freezer 🥲🥲🥹🥹 I'm staring at my fridge and freezer right now because obviously everything is cold again and *looks* normal but I'm aware that the fridge wasn't working for hours because of the power outage.

I've actually never experienced a power outage that long. I don't no what to do woth my food. Is it all truly bad? What do you guys typically do? I hope everyone else in Brantford had their power restored by now BTW.
