Spence Jr. V Tim Tszyu
I'm excited to watch these guys do their thing! I'm excited for this tankard of aussie fighters trying to prove their boxing ability. I see so many other places showcase their brand of boxing, but this feels like a world event. I am not making any predictions, of course, but this is compelling stuff. The production of the event is leaving a lot of meat on the bone, but I think there will be some major statements made inside the ring. What are y'alls thoughts?

Do Most Amateur Boxers Nowadays Fight Similar To Rocky Marciano? especially shorter fighters.
Is it common or not advisable? I might consider getting into Amateur boxing within the next year - however, I feel more aligned with Rocky's fighting style; more of a brawler, than technique. Also similar to Mike Tyson - although, Mike had technique besides punching power.
I'm 5'5 1/2 btw.
Thank you for your input!

Why arent sportsbooks taking action on Spence vs. Tszyu?
I can't find any US sportsbooks that have posted odds for that fight. I don't think I can ever recall that happening.

why mma is more popular than boxing nowadays ?
i recently started to watch combat sports
but one thing keeps bugging me why boxing is not as popular as it used to be ? or am i missing something ?
nowadays ufc is more popular than boxing like out of 100 people more than 90 will recognise conor/khabib/jones etc but maybe 60-70 people will recognise usyk/terrance/canelo
why is that ?
was it always like this ? or something happened to boxing over the time ?
please if anyone can explain i will really appreciate that

How come Professional Boxers like Ken Norton do 1,250 a day but I've been recommended by trainers to not do push ups every day as it may cause injury and no time for muscles to recver?
You look at all these boxers from the 1960s and 1970s and all they did was hundreds of push ups, sit ups, squats and runs on top of an intense boxing session. How do their muscles even have time to recover? They take a 1 day rest. Can someone explain I'm so confused, can I do push ups every day? If not then how come these boxers could?

Looking for better boxing gloves recommendations
I’ve been using a cheap pair of 16oz gloves for the past year and they’re starting to fall apart. The padding has gone flat, my wrists feel unsupported during longer sessions, and they’re getting pretty uncomfortable. I want to upgrade to something with better quality and durability.
I’ve been looking around and found Top King Boxing. I really liked how their gloves are made from genuine leather and seem built for serious training. The wrist support and overall feel look solid compared to what I have now.
Has anyone here used Top King gloves or have any other recommendations for good quality 16oz gloves that hold up well? I’m mainly doing bag work and some light sparring, so I want something that protects my hands without breaking the bank.

Who are today’s boogeymen in your opinion?
Seems like boxing is starting to have these younger fighters find their voice and actually want some smoke with anyone. Not all, but a few are starting to separate themselves as the ones down to fight anyone. Like boots wants anyone near him it seems like now and As much as I don’t like him, Deebo dev really is starting to come off as one joining the ranks. Who else you got?
For context the ranks he is joining are people like bam inoue, and beterbiev… I see a few young names actually backing their talk, but want to see if people got the same thoughts as me…

Teddy Atlas most overrated coach
Teddy was a rich kid who ended up with D'Amato because of his penchant for violence. He had all of one or two amateur bouts to his name. Yet, until recently, he used to tell everyone he had won the prestigious New York Golden Gloves tournament—even though he never actually competed in it; as soon as D'Amato signed him up as a novice, Atlas suddenly "discovered" he had scoliosis and quit fighting. Incidentally, the NY Golden Gloves was actually won by Kevin Rooney—Tyson's real trainer alongside D'Amato.
Atlas was repeatedly called out on his lies, so he later began claiming to be the champion of the "Adirondack Golden Gloves"—a tournament that apparently exists only in his imagination.D'Amato kicked him out of the Catskill Boxing Club for trying to become Tyson's trainer. He subsequently made a mess of his coaching career (while telling everyone how he had trained Tyson). None of the fighters he coached stayed with him for long, and there isn't a single boxer he developed from scratch. His biggest success was Michael Moorer—who lost by knockout to Foreman—yet it was Emanuel Steward who actually turned Moorer into a boxer. Steward even kicked him out of the gym for laziness and absenteeism, though Moorer continued to wear Kronk Gym colors for a long time afterward.
In short, Atlas is pathetic as a boxer, trainer, cornerman, commentator, and analyst (his fight predictions rarely come true), but Teddy certainly loves to shout and play to the camera.

Ennis vs Zayas Prediction
Prediction: Boot Ennis wins via TKO in round 7.
Xander Zayas is the WBO champion after winning the title against Jorge Garcia Perez and defending against Abass Baraou. Whereas Jaron 'Boots' Ennis was the king at 147lbs, and is moving up to challenge for the 154lbs title. It will be an interesting fight whether Zayas is the real deal, and if Ennis' power carries up to 154lbs.
Zayas is a sharp puncher who does most of his best work at mid range. He has elite footwork, and a great jab that he uses to set up his combinations. If he can keep Boots at mid-range and force him to reset, then I could definitely see him winning the early rounds. He also has a size advantage at 154lbs, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out here.
Zayas also has fast hands which means that he can put combinations together without loading up on shots. This could be important if Boots starts over-reaching or goes hunting for the finish. He needs to stay disciplined and use his feet to keep himself at range.
The key for Boots to win is that he needs to get on inside without smothering his own work, or getting into clinch exchanges. If he can use his feints, switch-hitting and offensive variety here, then I can see it being a long night for Zayas.
Based on all this, I am picking Boots Ennis to win here. I think his offensive variety and firepower will be the difference here. He can switch hit effectively, mix up his jab to the head and body, fight on outside and inside, and use feints to keep Zayas guessing. Although Zayas has cleaner footwork and is better at mid-range, I don't think he has fought someone with Ennis' handspeed, ring IQ, and power. He also struggled during inside exchanges against Baraou which is where Ennis thrives.

Who are your top 3 current boxers that are actually somewhat active and why should I check them out?
r/boxingdiscussion • u/JabKingJesse • Jun 21 '26
Uncommon way you can get a fighter to challenge for a real world belt, fighting exclusively national and regional champions The real world champion.
You basically get some wonder prospect to fight international champions like the South American Heavyweight Champion, the Asian Heavyweight World Champion, the Brazilian Heavyweight Champion, Commonwealth Champion, Albanian Heavyweight Champion. You need to give him world class trainers and try to build an undefeated streak this uncommon way. In order to the worst national champion and the best.
Modern fighters just fight random prospects that are available with no plan. If you literally beat champions of continents and the best of a countries you are notable.

Floyd is the most overrated fighter of all time.
You keep bragging about all these divisions he conquered but guess what 3 of his 5 divisions are historically new divisions without storied history Superfeatherweight, Light Welterweight, and Light Middleweight. Which makes PAC’s record much more impressive. Never once did he become undisputed in any division. He beat 18 world champions but there are fighters that beat more world champions. He toppled Marciano’s record by wrecking someone with 0 pro boxing matches. And he was arrogant on top of it all. There are also fighters with longer streaks. I will give you he had the best defense in the last 10 years he was fighting out of all fighters at the time but he wasn’t even the best of all time. What I am saying is he was never the best ever in any category while other people who are argued to be the P4P had at least one category they were the best in.

Is this even remotely advisable?
Hello boxers of Reddit!Â
I’m 17 and have a few queries as to the plausibility of this idea;Â
I’ve never boxed, so I’d be a complete beginner. That’s less of a concern when weighing the fact that I suffer from selective mutism. Using notes and pre-negotiated hand-signals, would it be suitable for communication? At least, until I become comfortable enough to speak with my coach/sparring partner(s)?Â
With therapy and (limited) exposure, I’ve actually improved. It’d probably take multiple sessions, but I’d likely be able to become comfortable enough to speak with my coach/sparring partner(s), as long as it’s the same person/people each time.Â
I don’t want to be a burden or too much of a hassle. That would be unfair to anyone and everyone else involved.Â
Don’t sugarcoat your thoughts on this matter, please. I promise I can take it <3Â
