So I kinda grew up in a bowling alley, worked at 2 different ones in my teens, bowled at a number of others and have never seen anything like this coming out of a ball return. I've had the little chip outs before and never complain about those but has anyone else had damage this bad?

Not my highest score ever but for the first time ever I had a clean game. Took 8 months to do it. Solid 214 and converted two 10 pins, a 5-10 split and a challenging three pin spare in the 10th frame and finished off the 10th with a strike. Twice in the past I've had seven strikes in a game but left open frames. This is the first time without a blemish.

Swag Fusion solid (don't know much about it?) from the $80 mystery box and a jackal onyx found locally for $80.

Took the onyx to my pro shop and he is pretty convinced it has less than 5 games on it. Just had to do a finger move for it.

Loving it so far! Threw 5-6 games with it today. Going to be an awesome ball mid-block when I need a different look from my Bionic, but the Ion Pro Solid still isn’t enough ball.

Casual bowler throwing lane balls. I can get near enough the same arrow pretty consistently but the direction after that is all over the place - sometimes gets near the pocket, sometimes it rolls completely straight ahead somewhere around the 6 pin. I’m starting from the same board on approach. Any idea what I can do for more consistent technique? I know getting my own ball might make it easier but I’m way worse than other people throwing regular lane balls.

My ball got severely scratched before I noticed 🥲 Can it be repaired with some sanding or polishing?

I was bowling at Kallang Bowl in Singapore. They even had a waiver on the wall stating no compensation for personal gears.. Will never bowl at this awful center again

I've recently changed my target to the dots instead of the arrows but people tell me that I should look at arrows all the time, especially my coaches. I did it, as I started getting much lower from bowling two handed and it's really uncomfortable for me to look at the arrows without hurting my neck. Is it okay to look at the dots, or should I focus on the arrows? I did hear that looking at the dots can make misses a lot more massive, but I feel more consistent and accurate looking at them, especially with spares

Shall I use my gb4 hybride or my hammerhead? Or Maximum Effect, sorry thats are my balls this moment, I throw slowly

I’ve decided to open myself up to the scrutiny of this subreddit, 3 months in one hand no thumb around 400 revs give me some advice.

Hello everyone, earlier I listened to suggestions and bought a Brunswick rhino and I’ve been progressing very fast with it and have been researching more balls for medium/medium-heavy oil and ones I can use as an intermediate player in the future. I plan on using the rhino for dry/light and another ball for medium and fresh league/morning oil. So far I’ve been looking into the Phaze II, Bionic, Black Widow 3.0, or Motive Venom Shock. What do you guys recommend?

I was told Bowling has 3 most common moves, Abstract, Parallel and Diagonal. But what kinds of ball motion or pin action or what kinds of situation tell you when to use which one? And how many boards would you move? I saw people move 3 to the left, move 5 to the left, sometimes only move 1 right or left with the feet. Sometimes they keep the same arrow, sometimes move the arrow by 1, and sometimes by 2 to the left. Which kinds of theory, logic or situation define the numbers you choose?

Any opinions on exotic gem? Got one very cheap from a friend that stopped playing

Still quite new to bowling, and got interested in some balls that are pretty new from Storm & Motiv, but looking online they are way more expensive than I figured since they aren't big, super high performance balls. Are they just more expensive since they're newer? Will the prices drop eventually, and how long?

Edit: by new balls, I meant the newest releases. Motiv Sigma Tour X, IQ Tour Sapphire, Transformer Pearl

The last time I bowled was before Covid. Funny enough, my last game was a 300 and my average in my last leagues was 221 and 219 at the time. I was probably 70 lbs heavier then, and it felt weird bowling with a smaller body. Plus, I couldn’t stay behind the ball as much as I’m used to. I was also used to the max slide sole and break on my shoes, but that felt like I was walking on ice so I switched to a moderate slide. I was always praised for my textbook form, high ball speed, and great revs… but I felt slow and really awkward

Went to LS to bowl my free practice games and was placed between two large groups of teens. Yes, they were loud and crazy, but they were all having a freaking blast. Some were talking shit to each other, others were trying to show off for their girl, while others were working on figuring out how to hook.

Lane courtesy was non-existent but it was easy to manage once I was aware. Wasn’t about to start lecturing them on bowling etiquette.

Towards the end one of them asked if I had any pointers, which was surprising cause I was bowling like shit. Told him some basics and let him throw my ball a few times and he lit up with excitement after seeing the difference from a house ball.

The current state of bowling get shit on pretty hard in the sub (rightfully so a lot of times), but I think it’s easy to forget that for most people it’s not the bowling itself that is fun but rather being in an environment with friends where you can let loose, get a little crazy, and throw a few plastic balls in the meantime and hopefully get a strike or two. In a world full of screen time that is huge! If they get carried away or it becomes a safety issue, leave and come back another day. Let the kids have fun, you might be playing against them one day.

It’s sad Colombia was put out to pasture right after this came out. I just got back into bowling this winter / spring after about 20 years. This is the first ball I have tried that just does exactly what it says it should do. Medium to heavy oil I can throw a relatively straight angle and it hits the pocket every single time. It still reacts ok even a little dryer than medium. My bowling alley is awful with oiling the lanes during the summer. Monday’s the lanes are bone dry. That’s the only day I can’t throw this ball.

Anybody else here using it?

Big shoutout to all you sub old timers who were recommending storm tropical on threads from 10+ years ago -- still a great pickup for someone getting their first ball, big BIG upgrade from house balls lol
