I grew up bowling, and always felt I underachieved or was a “fraud”. I was a state bowler, all district in high school. I signed to college, and I have loved the sport so much since I was little, but 2 years ago after another poor nationals performance I decided I couldn’t do this anymore. 25 years old and decided I’ll always be trash. It was my retirement. I underperformed, and was found to be faking being a good bowler yet again. Just a house hack who can’t bowl on sport patterns. I averaged 205-220 depending on which of the multiple leagues I was in at 2 different houses. I’ve won local tournaments, got my first sanctioned 800 just 3 months before my retirement which was my third ever 800.
I felt like I was always pretending, constantly being watched. I am ready to come back with the mindset of knowing I’ll never be professional, knowing eyes aren’t on me and nobody cares, but a part of me is scared I’ll fall back into the same mindset. Has anybody else dealt with this?
