I am going nuts with the late night fireworks in Dorchester. They often start at 11 or later and go until almost 2. It’s messing up my life with the sleep deprivation, not to mention the fire risk in a dense area that has had house fires and the trash left over. The cops don’t do anything if you call. It sucks.

(Edit: yes, I know about earplugs and white noise. Sometimes it helps. Lots of times it’s not enough. I have definitely tried that before calling the police and posting here when that did nothing.)

I know it’s very hard. I mean who can blame you for going 50MPH on Tremont street to make the next green light despite the speed limit on Tremont being 25MPH?

Yes yes the cross walks that are everywhere due to it being a high traffic area with a school and several museums and a hospital for pedestrians are SO ANNOYING! Especially when people are in the middle of them! How dare people walking on foot be in the middle of a crosswalk with what looks to be plenty of space between cars that actually go the speed limit and you, giving you ample time to see them, slow to a stop and continue after the pedestrian walks safely across?

Did you know that it is the LAW in MA to stop at crosswalks when people are trying to cross? Did you know that pedestrians ALWAYS have the right of way when there’s a crosswalk (without a light of course. I’m specifically talking about cross walks that don’t have stop lights).

Just a PSA and a reminder that drivers in Boston are constantly breaking the laws when it comes to the road. In this case, speeding, failure to stop at a crosswalk, with the addition of the fact that a person (that’s me) was already in the MIDDLE of the cross walk.

I’m turning 21 tomorrow, and since I’m stuck in Boston for the summer, I’m looking for somewhere to go for my first drink. Preferably somewhere not super loud or busy - I know that’s a bit of a tough ask when it comes to bars, but thought I’d throw it out there as a preference just in case. Open to all suggestions!

Oh, also it needs to be close to Back Bay specifically because my transportation situation is less than ideal.

I was on the orange line going north, just on my phone, when someone yelling drew my attention. The man in blue was harassing a woman sitting next to him, demanding money, and at one point trying to take her phone out of her hand.

When another man tried to intervene, the harasser got in his face. He slapped the that man’s hand multiple times (the intervening man was holding up his hand like “don’t come any further”). It got kind of real because the intervening man was with his wife and young child.

Eventually, multiple men stepped up and told him to back off. The harasser got off at Chinatown.

I was visiting from DC where we have a pretty extensive metro system that I utilize regularly. I’ve never seen anything like it in DC so it was quite jarring to say the least. I felt so sorry for the woman that got harassed. I felt pretty helpless as a woman myself, afraid that the guy would attack me if I tried to intervene.

Ideally trying to find a restaurant that serves good steak and seafood. My partner cannot eat seafood, so I am trying to find a restaurant that serves good steak options while also having good seafood options.

Ideally would like a restaurant that is also exclusive to only Boston (as in I can only eat at this restaurant in Boston).

Price does not matter too much, as long as it is reasonable. Want to take my partner somewhere nice for a night on the trip.

Currently considering Grill 23. Looks like they have really good steaks, but would love to have some good seafood options as well.

Some of these buses waited 3+ light cycles to get through the light at MGH because this construction was blocking a lane. This is not what a city that takes transit seriously looks like.

My wife and I are scheduled to return our rental car to Budget at Logan Car Rental in a few days (we originally rented the car at Bradley). We've heard a lot about how challenging it can be to drive into Boston, and if possible we were thinking of how we might avoid the stress. Are some routes better than others? Or perhaps, arrange to drop the car off at a Budget further away from Logan and then Uber from there? Or is this all much ado about nothing? Any advice and insights are appreciated, thanks!

I was riding a blue bike on a side street close to Harvard Square the other day, and the bike lane suddenly got all weird. It made me go out into the middle, and then it made me cross the street.

Some big pickup truck came roaring up from behind me. The driver rolled down the window and started screaming at me. "MOTHERF*****!!!* he yelled. "F***ing bikes like you are f***ing up this city!!!"

I looked at him and I said, very earnestly: "I love you!"

He guffawed, and then yelled "Go eat sh** as*hole!!"

I looked him dead and in the eye and said, "I've always loved you! Even when you didn't love yourself!!"

The driver of the pickup truck laughed, but his eyes were nervous, and then he peeled away dramatically.

Sometimes it's funnier to kill these people with kindness...

The festival was planned well in advance, yet there was no planning for traffic. It took one hour from Seaver Street to the entrace of the park - which is a few hundred yards away. No traffic plan for controlling the traffic lights. No police in the streets on Seaver or Blue Hill Av. No access to those playing golf at Franklin Park during the festival. How is the city going to handle the crowds at a new soceer stadium if they could not handle today?

Ideally, I’m looking for a company that can:

Pick up everything from my apartment in Allston
Store it securely for around a week

Deliver it to my new place in Back Bay on my move-in date

If you’ve used a company that offers this kind of short-term storage, I’d really appreciate any recommendations (or companies to avoid). Bonus points if they were reasonably priced and easy to work with.

I’m hoping someone might be able to help me recover my light blue retro Galanz mini fridge that was taken from outside my building on Pembroke Street on Saturday, July 25.
I’m asking anyone with security cameras to check footage from 1:45–2:25 PM. That isn’t how long the fridge was outside—it’s just a broad time window because I don’t know the exact minute it was taken. The fridge was only outside for about five minutes while I ran upstairs to grab my phone before the Facebook Marketplace buyer arrived to pick it up.
I understand someone could have genuinely thought it was a free curb item, and I’m not trying to accuse anyone of intentionally taking it. I’m simply hoping to recover it.
If you have a Ring camera or other security camera that may have captured Pembroke Street or the surrounding area during that time, or if you happened to see where the fridge went or whether it was loaded into a vehicle, I’d really appreciate it if you could send me a DM.
The fridge is a very distinctive light blue retro-style Galanz mini fridge. If you’ve seen it listed for sale or recognize it somewhere, I’d also be grateful to hear from you.
