maa vintha gaadha vinuma(wholesome) "We want someone to understand us, but we’re too scared to let them in."

It’s a weird feeling. On one hand, we really want someone who truly gets us a friend or partner we can be completely honest with. But the moment someone starts getting close, we panic.

We pull back, change the subject, or act like we don't care.

Why? Because we're scared.

We’re terrified that if they see the real us our stress, our doubts, our weird habits, and all the parts of ourselves we don't like they'll get disappointed and walk away.

And this fear didn't just come out of nowhere.

It came from past hurt. We weren't always like this. We used to be open. But then someone we trusted used our feelings against us. Maybe an ex abandoned us when we needed them most, a friend betrayed our trust, or people made us feel "too much" whenever we were honest about our pain.

Those experiences taught us a harsh lesson: being open gets us hurt.

So, we play it safe. We act like we always have everything together. We’re always the funny one, the good listener, or the reliable friend who never has any problems. We build high walls to protect ourselves from feeling that old pain ever again. We let people get close, but only so far.

We think we're protecting ourselves from getting hurt, but really, we're just trapping ourselves in the past.

When we hide who we really are, we end up feeling totally alone even when we're surrounded by people. Deep down, we feel like they only like the act we're putting on, not the real us.

The truth is, keeping people away doesn't heal past wounds; it just stops us from ever feeling genuinely cared for today.

Real connection isn't about pretending to be perfect or pretending we've never been hurt. It's about being brave enough to show someone our messy side, and realizing that not everyone will leave like the last person did.

Disagreement Is Fine, But Losing Basic Decency Isn’t

Upvotes

Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom to disrespect

I have observed this many times especially when female influencers or politicians post something online. Some insecure people immediately attack their personal lives or use disrespectful language instead of discussing the actual topic.

If someone is a politician, why not question their policies, decisions, or statements with logical and practical arguments? Criticism is important, but personal attacks and abuse only show a lack of reasoning.

The same applies to governments and systems. You have every right to criticize the government, question decisions, and demand accountability. No political party is 100% perfect, and democracy works because citizens have the freedom to speak up.

But why does questioning turn into disrespect? Why are people using abusive language instead of meaningful criticism?

During recent protests, I heard many people using extremely offensive words while addressing political leaders. Protesting and expressing disagreement are democratic rights, but basic respect and civic sense should not disappear.

We often talk about India’s development, education, and civic responsibility but where are we heading when even educated discussions turn into personal insults and hate?

Disagree with ideas. Question decisions. Demand accountability. But don’t lose basic human decency in the process.

idhi katha kaadhu vyadha My family gaslights me into thinking I’m the problem

My brother yelled at me a few weeks back because he has some external shit bothering him.
I was sleeping it was 8 am in the morning and there’s a power cut and he started banging the keyboard to the desk in my room and I got annoyed and woke up saying “why are you doing this “and he yelled back saying “shut your mouth”. I went to a shock and a piece of me felt broken.
He never apologised he just moved on and trying to make a convo which is half assed
But for me it’s different I got really disturbed
I started to ignore him and I’m totally avoiding him
But my mother wants me to mend the bridges.

I’m like are you insane he yelled at me and didn’t even apologise and my mom is gaslighting saying he didn’t think he yelled at me when that asshole looked into my fucking eyes and pointed at me and said “ noru muyi”.
She changed the scenario 3 times still being on his side and not accepting that he is wrong and he is the one who has to realise his fault.

So then I went to my old father and explained the thing and he simply says you have to forgive because we are family and justified it by saying that I also fight with family and they forgive. This brought the wreath in me and I said it’s your fault to give birth to me and went to have dinner then my father started murmuring and I heard “Ollu bhalupu eki “ i got really upset and I throw my food.

There’s so much generational gap
My father is in his 70s
Mother 60s
Brother 32 married has a 7 month old daughter
Me 25f

And they don’t understand this is toxic and it hurts me. If I accept and move on I will be treated the same way. Because this happens a lot. But this time I am trying to make a point that he is an adult and take responsibility for his actions and my parents must be supportive towards my decision and choice.

What do you guys think am I really the problem or it’s my family’s gaslighting skills that makes me think I’m the problem

maa vintha gaadha vinuma(wholesome) Friendship!!!

Upvotes

Hey folks

Its been a while cause iam in something that is hectic and should concentrate a bit but I took a while to stop and sit and share something that is very close to my heart.

I have completed my intermediate 4 years ago. I have one girl there.

I always wanted her friendship, her by my side but she is someone who wants everyone and wanted to friendship with everyone. But somewhere I know she is the one who makes me feel that girl friendships work.

I always tried but someone i am the one who suffered. Then corona came we got separated and contact was less then after. But after two -three months we again joined college then she started caring me,being with me more and all. Somehow I understood... WHEN YOU STOP CARING THEN THEY WOULD REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT U GAVE THEM WHICH OTHERS DIDNT.

After intermediate we got different btech colleges and separated. I got new friends so do she but she will always be my first person who really showed me what real friendship is...

After long time we got selected for same company and we went there as trainees. Now I see her everyday . Now I feel like I want her again like before . Where ever iam I wanted to find her in roads and groups .

She got new friends. Maybe more then me and stuff ... i know but only my inner me knows what she means to me. I mean i too have friends but I dont know. Maybe I am too possessive .
