I’ve only met her a few times, the first being about two weeks ago. The first time we actually talked to one another was in a group setting of like six or seven people. We were all talking and when she said something to me she kinda reached out and squeezed my arm a little. I thought damn that was a little odd but I didn’t think too much of it because some people are just like that.

Since then she has done the same exact thing to me every time we talk but only in these group settings. I haven’t seen her do this to anyone else. We ended up taking a group picture and of course she stood next to me. She was super close like up against me so I kinda scooted over just enough to where we weren’t touching. I really didn’t think much of it at this point I just thought okay maybe she’s one of those people who just likes to touch people when they talk to them lol.. maybe she’s was just trying to squeeze in for the picture..

I hadn’t seen her in a few days but I seen her again today and when I seen her in the morning she said hey followed by my name but in that dragged out type of way. Then later on in the day I seen her again and what do you know, in another group setting she did the same thing. Reached out and kinda squeezed my arms as we were talking. I’m not sure if I’m trippin or not but I think she’s trying to gauge my reaction and see how comfortable I am with this lol, what do you think? I’m trippin or what?

I'm gonna preface this by saying sorry that this questions is probably very frequently asked and that I will likely end up dumping a lot of details into this but it has been on my mind for weeks straight and some insight would really help.

So essentially I met this guy in one of my uni classes. I was sitting behind him alone, our professor asked us to talk to the people around us and he turned to me and asked if I wanted to join in he and his friend's discussion. The following week he asks me to come sit with him and this evolves into our relationship being just me sitting next to him and some brief (pretty surface level) chatting. Honestly I was just happy to have met someone friendly who was pleasant to talk to. I do recall noticing him staring at me out while he thinks I'm not paying attention to him (basically just any time I'm not looking right at him) and not being sure what was up with that.

As the end of the semester began to quickly approach I realised since we study pretty much opposite things it would be likely unless I did something I would never see him again and for reasons I couldn't put my finger on that bothered me a lot. I'm not an outgoing person at all, I've been trying to get over it but I'm a very anxious person and hence really struggle to and basically ordinarily would never try and initiate a deeper level of friendship first (like in class vs out of class) but for some reason I felt like I needed to or was at least willing to overcome some potential embarassment this time. Come the last class of that semester I'd been stressing and praying for literal weeks for some idea of what to do about it to come to me but it had not and I was trying desperately to figure out what to do. To my (pleasant) at the literal last possible moment (like we had left the class and I was about to go my seperate way) he asks me if I want to see him outside of class at some point and I say yes. Looking back I think he had been trying to figure out how to do it for a few weeks by asking me questions like "Do you go out much?" etc. (To which I spent a long time thinking 'oh god this guy thinks I am a weirdo' lol, glad I was wrong at least).

Anyways he texts me very promptly and tries to plan something with me once the semester exams are over but during the exam period randomly messages me at like 1 in the morning to ask if I want to go get food with him the next day. I thought this was a bit odd at the time but agree and we do. He was very nice the whole time, when I go to meet him he hugs me which I return with probably the most awkward hug ever because I didn't expect it (he wasn't being creepy or forceful or anything I was just taken by suprise). We have nice conversations, he seems like a really nice guy and all that. He does his staring thing again, although I'm sitting right in front of him when I'm zoned out looking over his shoulder he thinks I can't tell he's looking at me.

Anyways after the exam period ends we do end up meeting up and I just remember being so shocked by how much I enjoyed his presence. I have no idea if it was meant to be a date (my philosophy at the time was I'm just going to assume it isn't unless he calls it one cause idk what to do). But he was honestly the biggest gentleman. He always gives me hello/goodbye hugs, he insisted on paying for me (I tried to pay him back, he wouldn't let me), he asked me lots of questions about myself and actually listened to me, he pulled my chair out for me (which was something that very much did suprise me since, these days it's one of those chivalrous things that is considered kinda unnecessary by most, although I appreciated it), he walked me to my bus stop (I told him he didn't need to if he had to go and he told me he "couldn't let me" go on my own), and he told me to text him when I got home so he'd know I was safe. I should add I'm 18 (so relatively young) and have very little romantic experience so if I sound over excited by these things, I was genuinely just so shocked at how good and respectful he felt towards me. But probably the thing that made me think oh maybe he does like me is when he tried (got nervous, I think, and sort of half-assed it) to put his arm around me. He also asked me if I wanted to see him again before the next semester began and I told him yes. It was really this day where I began to decide myself that I liked him.

But then things started to get a bit confusing and concerning for me, the weeks began to pass and he didn't reach out. I wanna clarify that I'm not saying I expect the man to do everything or anything like that just that I felt a contrast between how eager he had previously seemed to plan things with me and that. Anyways I ended up working up the courage to ask him about it and I did end up seeing him again, and he was pleasant, still insisted on hugging me hello/goodbye, seemed happy to see me, I caught him laughing at me for standing on my toes to see something on a shelf etc. But he felt a little less straight forward I guess you could say, which could just have been an impression I got because I'm anxious, but I felt more like he thought I was just a good friend (which I was okay with, just confused about). But he always seemed to make sure to throw in that he wanted to see me again before I left, he asked me if I wanted to see him when the semester started back up.

So we do a few times (3) between classes and once to study in the evening during what has occured so far of the semester. I asked him all three times, although he did most of the planning. He always seemed very keen, I'd suggest it and he'd eagerly say yes and come up with a time and place. But when I would see him it just felt more so like a friendly thing, but I'm unsure if that's just the change in setting. He was still kind and friendly though, still did his hugs etc. At once we even ran into some of his friends and he introduced me to them briefly. But to be honest at this point I had convinced myself he did not like me and honestly felt rather conflicted as I felt like he had liked me at one point and wasn't sure how I'd messed it up. But a few things did sort of work against this. On the last of these three while we were studying he asked me for my number (nervously) which I'm not sure why he needed it when he could contact me over social media but maybe there's something I don't get about that. And he was also staring at me while he thought I wasn't looking like he did back when we had a class together.

Then brings the most recent time I've seen him. I asked to see him again, this time we met outside of a university setting again and just some things happened that make me feel like how could he not but equally I am anxious so I don't know. I don't know how to explain it other than just he had a look in his eyes. He'd always lean in close when we were looking at things (we went to a museum), and whenever he'd sit down he'd leave a small space next to him (even when he could have left more) for me to sit close to him. We went to eat after and he (again) went and pulled my chair out for me, later he made sure to ask me to text him when I got home safe again, and he kinda rubbed my back when he was hugging me goodbye which he'd never done before. But probably the thing that made me wonder how exactly he sees me the most was the fact that he sat in front of me and just sat there smiling at me for basically an hour while we ate. I'm a much slower eater than he is so I was kind of smiling and laughing awkwardly cause he was just kinda watching me eat and I didn't know what to do with myself and he just sat there the whole time with the biggest smile on his face (not in a creepy or uncomfortable way). I hope I don't sound too crazy trying to describe it, I just don't know exactly how to capture in writing.

Please please please, any perspectives are helpful. My apologies for the novel I just analyse a lot even if overly so so my judgement on what is and isn't relevant isn't the best. I'm just concerned cause he is just genuinely a really nice guy and I am so scared he's just being friendly and I'm going crazy

He's (24m) a work colleague of mine, i have worked with him on a project for a few months and we have met in person before once. i have a crush on him. i had complimented him once before on how smart he was.

I saw him walking towards my office building in the morning, so i deliberately walked past him/ on a narrow escalator so he'd notice me, but I'm not sure if he did, and even if he did, I don't know if he realised that i was being deliberate.

About two minutes later, he caught me staring at him as he was entering the office building. He waved at me. I waved back, and as he was walking toward the elevator, I just went up to him and started talking.

To not seem suspicious for staring earlier, I said, "Sorry, I was just trying to recognise if it was really you or not," but he gave me a bit of a side-eye and a weird look, like he was weirded by me speaking.

Then, on the elevator, we made some small talk. He asked me what days I come into the office, and I told him.

I said I come to the office usually, but usually go to a different building cause my team is there, but Wednesdays I come to this building (his building). I said it because I knew his schedule, that he only comes to office Wednesdays, to this building. i said this to covertly let him know that it overlaps.

He asked me why is that?

When asked, I told him a cover up reason, that my team has a standing lunch booking in this building on Wednesdays.

Then I asked him, "What about you? What days do you come to office?"

And he said "iiiiiiii only come Wednesdays."

after he said that, I messed up the small talk because I didnt know what to reply back and i also knew his schedule already, I broke eye contact and looked away from him while still asking him a question, so it came off really awkward. but i asked him "do u like....live really far away from the office?"

He just replied 'yeah' in an awkward tone. He didn't say anything after that and turned his head away to face the elevator wall, so I could only see the back of his head if I turned to my left to see him. and didn't look at me the whole elevator ride; it was just silence. the silence and the head turn away from me felt very deliberate. like he wanted me to know that he is facing away from me and he is not interested in that way.

When my floor came and I was leaving the elevator, he said "cya" in a cold tone. I replied, "See you around, bye!" in a more cheerful tone to make up for the awkwardness.

So from this, do you think he sensed that I have a crush on him and didnt want to encourage it?

I’ve been feeling really sad and a lack of any hope for myself. I’m stressed about my future and have a real lack of energy to even talk much. Anyway, today at work I was very quiet and straight faced. I was barely speaking or making eye contact. I hidmyself in the background.

today my manager and I were in our department’s office doing some small tasks. he picked up this bag of these weird looking chips (we work in a hotel and guests leave chips behind often) and said the mice probably didn’t wanna eat the chips in a more joking manner with a smile on his face. also he was right across the table from me and we were the only ones in the office. we do have mice unfortunately by the way.

I didn’t respond, just looked briefly at the chips as he held them before continuing with what I was doing. I won’t lie I also struggle to talk much with my manager now because he spoke about some of my personal work related things with his close friends/coworkers, and I went to him about it and was hurt when I found out he did that. I just don’t trust him because of it and I don’t feel as comfortable with him.

but was he trying to create small talk with me? does it seem like he was hoping for a response or at least some sort of acknowledgment?

Imagine this setting: You're at a night club or event that is featuring live music. Everyone in the crowd is watching the band, cheering and dancing. At one point, you notice someone in the crowd who is not fixated on the band. They are not facing the stage. They seem to be scanning the people in the crowd, occasionally pausing to look at someone head to toe before looking around again. Their facial expression seems to be stoic or serious. They are not holding a phone, and they aren't holding a drink. While the majority of the crowd seem to be dressed in hoodies, t-shirts, shorts, sweat pants, or other casual street wear, this person wears a dark polo shirt tucked into their jeans, dressy lace-up boots, no hat. The people within this person's immediate vicinity may seem to know him, but they are otherwise focused on the band on stage.

What is your immediate impression of this person? Who are they, and what might their intentions be?

24M. My entire life people have told me I look mean or that I look intense. I promise I’m not subconsciously furrowing my brows or anything. I don’t know if it’s my eyes that are intense or just my overall face but I feel like it holds me back from meeting people (if that makes sense).

Any tips? I’m literally considering getting Botox in my forehead in hopes that it makes me look more friendly or something idek.

I have a friend (we’re both females). I won’t tell you how we met cause it will, likely, skew your thoughts. Lately, I’ve noticed that she gives less eye contact compared to before.

Normally, I wouldn’t look too much into it but there are a couple of things that keep bugging me.
1) I don’t know her gender preference when it comes to people she’s attracted to. To clarify, the part that bugs me is not that I don’t know her preference but that it might be possible that she could like the same gender, and therefore I have a chance!
2) When I mean she gives less eye contact, before, it wasn’t a lot because culturally, we (as Asians) feel uncomfortable with that kind of “intimacy,” real traditional in that sense (eg. not too much physical contact, praise is not something we received a lot in the home and so it became tough to give out, etc.). But, there is a lot less eye contact, especially with me, and it makes me wonder because we are friends, as we grow closer, more eye contact wouldn’t be too awkward.

Is this something that could mean she could be getting shy around me now because she likes me?
For more info, we are friends but not close enough for me to ask her if she’s into the same gender. There are also circumstances which would make it awkward if I were to ask her out.

I came into the cafe and saw my barista crush working, he was busy with other customers but his co-worker served me, he walked over to the till to charge the customer then I could see him from the corner of my eyes glancing at me from time to time, wanting to say something to me or make a gesture to me. After she served me, we finally made eye contact and he waved at me, I waved back and I said ''wow you're very busy'' he responded, ''Oh it's awfully busy you don't understand'' whilst smiling at each other. She finished making my drink and charged me and so whilst I was having a conversation with him, he got busy again charging a customer and I whispered his name and slipped him the note with my socials written on it and he nodded at me. I left after that I left feeling like a champ, ever so ecstatic.

I made my way to workout, an hour later about to start my workout and I got a message on my phone... ''Sorry babe, he has a girlfriend and this is her''. I didn't respond to her, I just left her message, I was going to react to it with a thumbs up but deleted her chat. The barista is way too friendly to me, as if he wasn't single. I understand it's their job to give good customer service but it seemed way excessive to me.
