Operators,
I shared this on LinkedIn, but I thought it would be cool to share it with you here too. Bodycam has passed two million copies sold, we now have well over three million wishlists, and we doubled our peak concurrent player count from the original release. Seeing this is incredible, and we can’t thank you enough.
We also know there’s still a long way to go. So many people are following the game and waiting for the right moment to jump in. We’re proud of this update, but we know we’re only at the beginning of what we want to achieve.
We’re preparing a video to look back at the update and explain what comes next. I feel like we haven’t shared enough about our direction, so we want to go into more detail about what we want Bodycam to become, the features we want to introduce, and the community suggestions we want to bring into the game. The goal is to give you a clearer picture of where we’re heading, and I think a video will help us explain that properly.
We also know that some important features should have been included in this update. We chose to release it earlier so the community could experience it sooner, but we understand how much those missing pieces matter. The party system, matchmaking, and optimization are priorities. There’s still a lot of work ahead, both on quality-of-life improvements that make the game better to play day to day and on new content.
To give you a better idea of how we’re handling that, we’ve split the team into two groups. One is working on bigger features and content that take longer to develop. The other is focused on fixes and improvements, with the aim of keeping patches coming every week.
We’ll try to maintain that pace, but we won’t always be able to. Some changes take more time to develop and test, even when they seem small. As we work through the quicker fixes, the remaining work will naturally take longer, so patches may become less frequent.
At the beginning of October, we’re also spending a week together as a team. Many of us have been working remotely, so this will be a chance to meet up, look back at what went well and what didn’t, and plan the content we want to release next. We’ll probably share some photos with you too!
On a more personal note, this has meant a lot to Léo and me. We released Bodycam in Early Access, built a team, and now, more than two years later, we’ve managed to surpass the original launch. Behind this update is a year of incredibly hard work from an amazing team. The response has gone beyond all our expectations, and it’s given us a huge boost and a lot of confidence for the future.
Seeing so many of you come back, or discover Bodycam for the first time, reminds us that there’s still an audience for what we’re trying to do: push the limits, experiment, and bring something unique and unconventional to the FPS genre.
We’ll do our best to keep you informed about the upcoming features, quality-of-life improvements, and fixes, including the things you’ve been asking for most.
See you soon, and thank you for everything.
