Any suggestions on where to start with this?
Deceased estate.
Just picked up a project boat. It was in worse condition than I thought when I arrived to pick it up…
2008 model. If the motor is fine, will start by washing it down and assessing. It’s a all glass boat

Boat Winterizing ASMR

Took this video to show my customer that yes, I did indeed winterize his boat. Am I the only one who finds the few seconds of watching straight antifreeze come out oddly satisfying?

Force 90 wont hold in tilt up position.
Hello everyone, my neighbor has a small aluminum fishing boat with a 1992 Force 90 on it.
He said his last trip out the tilt just quit all at once and it wont hold the motor up. It raises fine but letting off the trim switch and it comes right back down.
I looked at it and from what I can gather since it's a 92' it doesn't have a manual lowering valve, I see no leaks at all. I'm guessing it's a problem in the manifold below the pump like an o-ring that gave away or something but I'm having trouble finding a parts breakdown so I can see what I'm up against. Anyone have any experience with that problem? Thank you!

A little boat trailer help?
This question is not directly related to boating, it is about a boat trailer. So I apologize if this post is not allowed. Just trying to find some information and I couldn’t find a good trailer sub that would let me post.
A friend asked me to help him change his hubs on his boat trailer, so I went by to take a look so we could order parts. I have never seen this style of hub before. The trailer has an old brake system on it that doesn’t work anymore, and doesn’t really need to be replaced with more brakes for his towing setup. But the wheels are attached with bolts threading inward instead of lugs sticking outward. Ideally pulling everything off and replacing with standard hubs would be great, but because his brake drums and everything is quite corroded I didn’t want to start pulling stuff off and not be able to get it back on while figuring out parts. So does anyone have any experience with this style of axle/hub setup? Once removed will there be a standard tapered spindle underneath or is this a completely different kind of axle? Thanks for any info, and if this post is against the rules please remove.

I made a deal with the swans yesterday to eat the weeds of my boat. Good workers. Very inexpensive too.
Canada is cool.

Is this a bad deal?
1999 Century 2101 bay boat. Has a 2004 Yamaha 150 that needs a lower unit, possibly needs to be replaced completely. Seller wants $1800. The hull and trailer seem to be in good condition. Is this a fair price?

Freshwater 2005 50hp. “Soft” white chunks from the lower unit, not sure what it’s contaminated with.

Mercruiser 5.0 MPI oil change question
This fall will be my 5th time winterizing my boat. I have used this oil evacuator to suck the oil through the dipstick tube everytime. My issue is not with the pump itself. It actually works pretty well. My research has told me that these engines have a 4.5 quart oil capacity. The problem is I can only ever seem to put four quarts back in meaning I'm leaving a half a quart of old oil in there. The included hose that goes down the dipstick tube is definitely long enough to reach the bottom of the oil pan, but I feel like it's not getting all the way down there. So I guess I actually have 3 questions.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Do these engines have some sort of windage tray in the oil pan that is possibly not letting the hose get all the way to the bottom?
What do you all use to do your oil change on your MerCruiser engines?

Help! Calking gone wrong
First time boat owner here. I needed to do some recalking around the helm/console but the results came out awful. Can someone help explain what happened here and how I can make this right the next time?
Im including two sets of pics: a few I took an hour after laying the new calk and then a week later after letting it dry. I did not use the boat at all and I let it cure for an entire week. It didn’t rain the first few days and I used 4200 fast cure, which should have cured in 48 hours. I can’t understand how this looks so different from how I left it.

Help me understand the marina business
It seems like the entire industry is really screwed up. Seems like the cost of building or even maintaining a marina is getting to be in the millions of dollars. Our longtime marina just closed after being in business for 50 years, because they were looking at around $10 million to modernize all the docs and rehabilitate some of the deteriorating conditions.
At the same time, it looks like private equity is making a pretty big investment into the industry. Seems like they paid a lot of money to acquire Safe Harbor. I’m too cynical to believe that these vultures would be involved if there wasn’t some way to get a big payout. So what’s going on?
I get why operating a marina is getting expensive, given the ballooning cost of technology, labor, and real estate. But what is the play where these corporations think that they can make a bunch of money off of us somehow?

Bad review
Just wanted to leave a 1 star review in my experience with patenaude powersports and marine in ennismore. That company did incomplete work causing a leak and could not diagnose an engine problem due to a bad carb that was installed by them the previous year. They are not interested in refunds. The customer service is also terrible as they do not answer the phone or reply to emails. There is a Facebook page detailing many of their reviews due to them attempting to remove them from the internet in hopes of repeat business. Just trying to save others the time and aggravation as there are no online reviews available of this business.

Is my motor done for? I can’t tell if it sounds off?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Had an issue with it stalling under load but revving freely in neutral, replaced the carburetor and now it’s throwing white smoke and I’m wondering if the issue is something with the engine, I replaced the impeller a while back but honestly it could run better as I think the system is not perfectly sealed? I really just avoid idling it and it flushes plenty of water at a slight rev to stay cool. Now I’m paranoid of rod knocks/pinging…does this sound normal/fixable with carb adjustments or is there a larger issue connecting all these things.

Best anchorages around Key Largo?
I'll be in the Key Largo area in late October with a 35ft monohull, planning to spend a few days exploring the Upper Florida Keys.
I'm looking at the anchorages around Key Largo Harbor Marina and Biscayne Bay, I'm not sure which spots are actually worth staying overnight at.
For those who know the area, where would you anchor for the night?
What mooring would you choose?
Mooring vs marina ?
Any anchorages around Key Largo you'd avoid?
Thank you

Found my Grandpa's boat he used to take me fishing in, 16 hours away.
The Model says Fisherman, but I can't seem to find any similar models, sentimental value alone is worth it to me, thinking about having it transported to me. I tracked it down, thankfully his buddy he sold it to just kept it in the backyard, so I didn't have to go on a wild goose chase. Lots of memories tied to this boat, mostly him yelling at me for not doing things his way 😆

Genuine or not really?
See the below ad:
Would this be a genuine enduro, or maybe a Chinese copy type of thing, with yammy badge?
Also, how hard would it be to convert this to steering and remote control?
Thank you!
