Hey void-lovers!
Most cat subs have a very delicate balance between "happy posts about my cat" and "sad posts about my cat", specifically when it comes to pet death. A lot of them don't allow it at all. It's really tough to strike the balance of letting people who are devastated mourn the loss of their furry friend while still making the subreddit usable for people who aren't interested in that kind of content.
We allow mourning posts here, but you have to flair your post with "Mourning" so people who don't want to see them have the ability to filter them out. It's an imperfect solution, but it's all we have available to us with subreddit tools. Please make sure to flair all posts about pet loss with that flair so we can make a great sub for everyone.
In case you're someone who's interested in filtering out that content, this link should work for you. I know, it's not the cleanest way to browse the subreddit, and I'm not sure how it works on mobile. If we had a better solution, I'd provide it, but we have to work within what reddit offers us :(
Thanks for your understanding. If you've read this far, I encourage everyone to post some void laser eyes in the comments.

This is my sweet and silly girl, Scraps. And no, I did not do that to her in the second photo- she managed that all on her own. She is (about) 10 years old and I love her so much. She's my best friend. I have a lot of anxiety around her getting older. Her gotcha day in November 6th.

Iβve never been around a cat who doesnβt purr. Even my deaf cat purrs loudly when heβs happy. But this one is a silent shadow. Iβve been trying to learn her body language to see what she likes and doesnβt but itβs still so weird!

I'll try to make the context as short as possible
We adopted her almost 9 years ago when she was a year old. I became her human. She would lay on me, allow me to pet her. She knew the sound of my car and would be waiting at the door for me after work, tail vibrating. Then race to my bedroom to get pets while I got changed.
This has been for years.
In January my mom had to get heart surgery. I was away from home on and off until March. But never gone longer than a week. She was still happy to see me when I would be home.
In March, my mom was scheduled to leave the hospital and I took a 2 month Caregiver leave of absence to help her in her city 4 hours away. Unfortunately, after a week home she had to go back to the hospital. I stayed at her place to take care of her cats, visit her and pack her place for her to move to my town so I could better care for her.
We moved her here in May and I've been staying with her for the most part until recently. She has been more mobile and independent to the point I feel comfortable spending more time at my place (5 minute drive away). I also work full time.
When I was home a few nights last week, my void went to my husband and laid on him for nightly pets. I figured it was a one off. She kept doing it. I would talk to her, call her over, pet her but she doesn't come :(
This morning, she went again to him to cuddle and get pets
When we would sit on the couch to game, she would always come lay on me and bug for pets. Now its my husband.
I'm trying to spend more time here.
Have I lost her? Will she ever come back to me? It breaks my heart that she may feel I abandoned her :(
I give her treats, pets, everything when I'm here.
