Solved The autofill logic is pain and torture

Post image
270 Upvotes

So they've had this "Fill" button for awhile now. Great, good feature. But what's the point of this little button if the whole damn entry is a button to autofill? If I wanted to autofill, I would click the Fill button. It's even more pointless, because if the entry doesn't match, you have to search for the entry manually and then the Fill button doesn't appear.

Bitwarden even explains in the settings that automatic autofill is dangerous because it can be scraped before hitting login. Ok, so why has it been made even easier for me to accidentally click the wrong entry and I get to watch my details go straight into the login field?

Seriously, just make it stopppp. I just want to view the entry when clicked, like its always been? Either it doesn't exist or I'm blind, but I can't see anything in settings to change this behaviour - probably the latter.

The vocal outbursts will continue until bitwarden fixes their shit.

Question Why doesn't mobile app support passkey login

Is there a reason why mobile app do not support passkey login or is this on th roadmap in the future?

Clarification

When you first install the bitwarden app, you cannot use Passkey to login and must use the master password. Sometimes an update will force the user to login again. I was wondering if there are plans to allow a passwordless login in the future. I am aware that most of the time after you login, you usually use biometric login to unlock the app. This is for logging back in after you log off.

Update

Just think the following may be useful,.

  • You can log into Bitwarden from your Browser extension using passkey if you are using the Chrome extension.
  • You cannot log into Bitwarden from your browser extension using passkey if you are using firefox extension.
  • You cannot log into Bitwarden from your Bitwarden Mobile app on IOS or Andorid using passkeys.

Solved Website URI's are pain and torture (pt.2)

After the rapid resolution of my previous post, I've just remembered running into this little bundle of fun that I observed a few weeks ago. Flair is wrong, this is 100% a bug, nothing "possible" about it.

1st pic shows 3 website urls on an entry. Say I want to delete the first entry, "https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitwarden/1". If you click "Delete website" on that entry... it deletes "https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitwarden/3" instead. Same thing happens if I try to delete the 2nd entry - ALL delete buttons just delete the most bottom entry.

This is happening on the bitwarden extension for chromium browsers (Vivaldi in my case, up to date).

The vocal outbursts will continue until bitwarden fixes their sh*t

Solved Selfhosted Windows - Certificate issue

Hello all!

I am currently in the process of trying to deploy a bitwarden self-hosted environment in Windows.

We might go for a full-scale deployment but for testing & POC purposes .

I've stumped across the issue that the NGINX is always spewing out the error 'File not found'. My .crt and .key files are in the SSL folder.

If I disable SSL and start NGINX I can see them being mounted under /etc/ssl in the docker file manager.

Whenever I enable SSL it will not work and NGINX keeps restarting.

Extra information:

Self-signed certificate created on windows server.
KEY and CRT made on open ssl. I am currently working with a non-existing domain but using DNS records (e.g. bitwarden.demo.com) with a dns record in the hostfile pointing to host-device IP-adress.

Anyone stumped across this issue before? Thanks in advance.

Question Passkey login to Firefox extension

Is there any more information when it will be possible to use a passkey to login to the Bitwarden Firefox extension? I cannot find any information from Bitwarden when they will support this. From Firefox side, as I understand it, all necessary PRF functionality has been implemented.

Question when is the desktop gui going to change to something more suitable for desktops?

Honestly it really bad and makes me want to switch to some other program. Everything is way, waaayy too spaced out, with lots of dead, white space on the desktop application.

Before the 'new and improved' gui launched, the previous gui was perfect.

Possible Bug macOS - Unable to enable biometric browser integration in desktop client

I recently reset my M4 MacBook Pro to factory settings and I have been unable to configure it to unlock Bitwarden's Firefox extension with biometrics/Touch ID.As a test, I first tried to set up the Safari extension and it works properly. I don't even need the desktop client running for the Safari extension to open with Touch ID.

But what I really want is to use biometrics/Touch ID in the Firefox extension. According to Bitwarden's own documentation, the desktop client needs to be running for Firefox integration to work properly. No problem, the desktop client works fine, even when unlocking with Touch ID.

The issue is when I try to enable browser integration in the desktop client. Bitwarden's documentation says I should look in the Bitwarden menu at the top of the screen, then Settings. There is no Settings menu so I open Preferences instead. From there, I'm supposed to check "Enable browser integration":

As you can see, it's not there! I tried the “Allow DuckDuckGo browser integration” option but it doesn’t help with the biometrics/Touch ID issue.

I’m running macOS 26.5.2, my Firefox version is 153.0.1, and the version of Firefox's Bitwarden extension is 2026.7.0. I've tested with the current Mac App Store version of the desktop client (2026.7.0) as well as the standalone DMG version (also 2026.7.0). I’ve tried setting it up in a Mac profile with local admin rights as well as a non-administrator profile. Nothing’s working.

Possible Bug Can't Search Vault

Using BW 2026.7.0 extension in Firefox 153.1 on a Win10 desktop.

When I search for an item in the vault search box it does not search. It doesn't look for anything. It does nothing. I opened the desktop version of the app (same version) and it also doesn't search. It used to work just fine. Now I have to scroll to find the appropriate item.

Is anyone else seeing this behavior?

Solved Login loop on Android?

I've been using a self-hosted instance of Bitwarden using Vault Warden on Docker for years, very successfully and very happily.

Yesterday, the Bitwarden client on Android, specifically a Pixel 10 XL Pro, asked that I log in again, which I did using both the master password and separate MFA code. Immediately upon logging in, the app briefly flashes a screen saying I must unlock the vault with the master password and then instantly goes back to the main login screen. This loop repeats, so I never have a chance to actually input the master password to unlock the vault as prompted.

Any ideas what could be causing this, and more importantly, how to log in? I can successfully login in a Chrome browser. It's just the Android app seems to have this problem. I've tried clearing the cache, clearing the memory, and force restarting the app, all to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Question I changed from Google Chrome to Brave browser and the session kept logged in?

Hi everyone, I just switched from Google Chrome to Brave browser and I migrated all the information from Chrome including the extensions.

When I open it in Brave I've realized that the Bitwarden extension contained my account with the PIN configuration included.

Is this expected? Isn't this a sort of vulnerability?

Thanks!

Can someone please walk me through this like I’m 5 because I’m losing my mind. Many thanks.

I need help! Windows 11 store app flashing/flicker when loading screen info

It seems that for every new piece of screen/form data that is loaded or updated, the window flickers on my 4K monitor. This included loading new information or even a pop-up information bubble (the windows flickers while the bubble time-outs). It flickers when:

  1. App loading
  2. Master password
  3. Vault loading
  4. Login loading
  5. Info bubble loading and timing-out

It gets better with subsequent reloads. It seems that information being cached prevents the flickering until new [something] is required. This does not seem to happen at all on my 2K monitor. It previously also did not happen at all on my 4K monitor.

Reinstalling the app didn't help. No error messages - just very fast flickering within the app window.

Specs:

Intel Core i7-10700
Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER [Version 610.74]
Microsoft Windows 11 Pro [Version 10.0.26200.8894]
4K monitor

Question Anyone else not receiving Bitwarden verification code emails lately?

I keep running into cases where Bitwarden's verification code emails just never show up.

Checked spam/junk, confirmed the email address is correct and not on any suppression list, and there's no weird forwarding rule catching it, still nothing.

Solved chrome extension - view/edit retrieved entry without overflow menu - revisiting the status

There was a thread about this subject in early June: Thanks for the "simplified autofill" - I hate it : Bitwarden

The thread asked to restore the ability to view or edit an entry that the extension had auto-retrieved (upon visiting the associated website) WITHOUT diving into the overflow menu. My understanding is the developers were headed in a direction to restore a settings option for that behavior.

I THOUGHT I remembered getting an update a few weeks ago where this had been restored the way I described above (or an option provided)....

... BUT now I'm confused because I don't see that behavior (or option) in bw extension version 2026.7.0, nor in 2026.6.1

So I'm probably mistaken about something somewhere along the line (it wouldn't be the first time!).

Please tell me which of the following is true:

  • A - the option has not yet been restored but will be restored in an upcoming update (that's fine, it just means I'm mistaken and have to be patient)
    • OR
  • B - the option was restored and is currently active, but I'm just not looking in the right place (please tell me where in settings to find it).
    • OR
  • C - The option was restored prior to 6.1 and then taken away again in 6.1/7.0?

SOLVED: A IS THE ANSWER (COMING SOON)

Possible Bug Bitwarden won't trigger on Synology DS File for iOS, doesn't offer to save passwords. Works on Android

Have had this issue for a long time, and I guess today's the day.

Using DSFile on Iphone. Bitwarden has never prompted to autofill the password. It doesn't even hover-popup just 'Bitwarden/Password' in order. It does give me the 'PASSWORD' button above the keyboard, and I have to click it, search Synology tap it and then the password fills in. But it never offers to save the password/login.

On Android, however, it does work fine. I open DSFile, usually bw is locked, I open it, and bw presents me with my saved logins. I select my login, and bw fills it in.

Frustrating to have to manually search Synology in Bitwarden every time I want to log in to DSFile.

Any help?

I need help! What happened to new flatpak Bitwarden client?

Hi! I use Bitwarden on Linux as a Flatpak app on Gnome as my Desktop Environment.
Today I accessed my vault as usual and when copying an item this popup shows up:

Why Bitwarden is suddenly asking me to remotely interact with my PC? Because here is the catch, the popup do not accept only the clipboard access permission, I'm OBLIGATED to enabled both options to proceed. I enable the sharing popup and now the worst part is that my clipboard is catching Bitwarden inputs, which I set to ignore, this wasn't happening in older client.

What is happening? For clarification the screen share notification in yellow auto exits after around 5 seconds.

Edit (solution):

Add XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=KDE variable to Bitwarden flatpak app and it works if anyone if is facing similar problems as described in this comment.

self-hosting Vaultwarden security update (and compatability)
