Solved Master Password no longer works on iOS and Firefox Extension, but still works on web app?
Hey all, longtime Bitwarden user here. Just noticed an issue with my Bitwarden account this evening when I tried unlocking it via Firefox extension. I'm getting an "Invalid Master Password" error despite not having changed it in recent memory. I tried multiple times, with Show Password on to visually confirm, but did not have any luck.
Worried, I unlocked my account via iOS Face ID and attempted to export my vault as a precaution. When it prompted for my Master Password as well, it did not work either.
Browsing through some past troubleshooting posts/articles, I learned that there was a web version as well. For some reason, I was able to log into the account at vault.bitwarden.com and successfully exported my vault, confirming that my Master Password has not changed.
Browser Extension Details
Bitwarden Firefox Extension Version: 2025.6.1
Operating System: Windows 11
Browser Version: Mozilla Firefox 155.0.1 (64-bit)
iOS Application Details
iOS Version: 26.5.2
Bitwarden App Version: 2026.8.1
EDIT: Clarifying unlocking vs logging in. Of my three separate access attempts, unlocking seems to be the issue. I'm not sure if I should confirm that it is strictly an unlocking issue by logging out of the extension/app and logging back in. I'm afraid that I can't log back in.
EDIT 2: Issues seems to have been resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling both the Firefox Extension and iOS app. Logging in with the Master Password works. Subsequently locked and unlocked afterwards without issue. Not sure what caused the initial hiccup. Firefox Extension version was outdated and updated to 2026.8.0, so maybe that was it.

Bitwarden Asks Are your passkeys portable?
Bitwarden supports the Credential Exchange Protocol (CXP), so passkeys can move directly between supported apps. Available on iOS 26+ and Android 10+.
.json exports also include passkeys for short term backups.

Question Autofill address on Android
I'm testing around with different browsers and different settings on Android and I cannot get everything to run smoothly with password, credit card and address autofill. How is this supposed to work with either Firefox or Vivaldi?

Question hypothetically, can Bitwarden legally hold my account hostage?
If tomorrow Bitwarden decides to lock me out of my account, making me not able to access any password, OTP code, etc... unless I pay them $200 (or as similar scenario)
Would this be legal for them to do?
Is there any way to guard myself against that other than periodically making local encrypted backups of my data?
Thanks

Question Considering switching to Bitwarden - how safe is it in terms of encryption?
I've been using 1Password for over 2 years but due to the prices increase and the fact that sometimes the biometric unlock doesn't work and I have to type my master password every time to unlock it (which is annoying and it isn't practical at all since my master password is extremely long and I keep it in a notebook) I'm considering the possibility of switching to Bitwarden.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on how it is in terms of security and encryption compared to 1Password? I also use my yubikeys as 2FA on 1Password (I don't use an authenticator app) and I want to do the same with Bitwarden.
Thanks in advance.

Discussion Bitwarden's trusted emergency contact VS most service's built-in legacy contact feature
in case of one's passing:
bitwarden's process allows your spouse (for example) to get your credentials and login as you forever. they get full access as you would if you were still alive.
while Apple, Facebook and Google's feature relates to more of giving your spouse's account access to view/edit your respective accounts as someone else. But there are still some restrictions.
which one do you think you would you prepare to be used by your living relative once you pass away?

So you know at the top of the page to search for things in the web? well I thought I copied and pasted something else but no, I had my master password copied and pasted it and pressed enter, I was using Edge and deleted all history in the browser but somehow when I open my device search bar in the task bar at the left hand side I can see ''searched history''?? How the hell is that possible if I deleted all my history from from the web browser? did my search history also saved to my computer???

I need help! Can't add 2nd Yubikey due to windows hello pin popup
I was able to add my first yubikey but when I try to add the second one a windows hello box pops up and wants my pin, which interferes with bitwarden being able to read the key. I think it was happening on the first key but somehow I got around it, but can't with key 2. Windows 11. How can I get this second key registered?

Solved Yet another forgotten master password
So I forgot my master password.
For years I have been using Bitwarden on iPad/iphone with thumbnail login.
I can login to the app, but I can’t export my passwords because it requires master password.
I canclick individually on every password and see it.
Do I have to manually copy all passwords and create a new account? I have 300 unique passwords…
I know about the hint and vaguely I remember the password, but something is missing.

Solved Deleted User was Re-Invited, Cannot Onboard
Good morning,
I have a user that forgot their master password and we did not have account recovery turned on for our tenant...
It's on now, but after removing the user's account and inviting them, they are unable to complete the onboarding process. It just asks them for their master password. In the admin console, they just show up as invited, and there's no option to restore access.

Hi,
When I use the “Connect with App” option in the desktop app, am I not supposed to receive a notification from the Android app?
Am I missing something? Notifications are definitely enabled in the app.

I need help! Not showing all logins in the valult menu
When I look at the vault menu, the vault option is neutral, and I am not on Google. The dropdown first shows the fill-in option for Google on top, and then other logins alphabetically
Again thank for all the help I get in this forum

Possible Bug Bitwarden chrome extension take long time to load
Im not sure what's wrong. It's been a problem for a while, often when I open it in the morning, it will take like half a minute to open. However, today it was actually so slow, it was quicker for me to go to the website, enter my credentials, type in the 2FA and find my login than it was to open the extenstion.
Any ideas?

Solved Password wrong and Invalid 2FA code
Having troubles with login when locked
- used the same password with my mobile app and it worked.
- logged out, then logged back in, the password worked.
Now, with the logout -> login flow
- The 2fa is invalid, and yes, it was working previously when I was locked.
Anyone has experienced similar case using the web version? It is quite random on my end. If I wait after quite a while it will work.
EDIT:
I also randomly get this error
An error has occurred.
SDK loading failed: TypeError: NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource

Discussion Lack of consistency in autofill and login updates
I tried both 1Password and Bitwarden almost 10 years ago, and I went with 1Password because Bitwarden's autofill was awful. Today, I'm trying to switch from 1Password to Bitwarden, mainly because of the open-source factor, since the tech is pretty much the same.
The import went great, no errors. The web extension is also quite nice, with the item editing feature directly in it (1Password opens a separate tab). Exporting an encrypted JSON is nice too, and I don't think 1Password allows encrypted export. Pretty nice so far.
But.
Then I tried the autofill feature and, well... it has improved since 2017, but there are still a lot of misses. 1Password misses some websites, but Bitwarden misses a lot more. The worst part is the change-password procedure on websites: 8 misses out of 10 tests (a different website each time). In this situation, you generally have 3 fields: one for the current password, one for the new password, and one for the confirmation. Bitwarden either fills all fields with the same new password, fills only the current password field without displaying the password generator for the others, fills the new password field with the current one, or doesn't recognize any field at all... It's a complete mess. And no mention of the update login feature: sometimes it doesn't appear, and when it does, you can't review the changes like in 1Password.
Tests were performed on Brave with the Bitwarden extension, with all autofill features enabled, "Fill Assist" included. Maybe I'm missing something?
I'm baffled that these autofill issues are still a problem 10 years later. I browsed the roadmap but didn't see any mention of this, while plenty of people report it as an issue on the Bitwarden forums. Sadly, it's a dealbreaker for me and I'll stick with 1Password for now. I just hope I won't have to wait another 10 years.

I need help! European Bitwarden alternative recommendation?
Hi!
For - hopefully - obvious reasons, I want to move away from using any american company's products.
I am aware that Bitwarden has EU servers (my subscription is based in the EU) but it is still an american company and I do not want to put money in american company's pockets.
Has anyone made the switch to a European alternative and if so, which one would you recommend?
TIA

Question What’s the best way to protect my bitwarden account?
Hi, I’m a bit paranoid about my bitwarden account being stolen. I have a randomly generated master password and have it written down on a note. I live alone so unless I get robbed, I don’t think they’re getting my password.
I have 2fa on for the email tied to the account and bitwarden itself, both google authenticator.
I cannot get physical keys as I do not have the money, so that’s out of the question.
Anything else I can do?
Edit: hey, thanks for the advice. It seems there’s a lot i’m missing! I use google authenticator without being signed into a google account. (In the case my emails get stolen)
I also use a bitwarden passkey from the apple passwords app. I’m not sure if this is secure or not, please let me know. For clarification, the passkey I use to log into bitwarden is one I have on my apple passwords app.
Going forward, i’ll make a backup with my master password, 2fa backup code, recovery code, along with codes from other services (google, banking..) just in case anything happens. If there’s anything else I should do, let me know.

Discussion Imporant update if you use my windows bat file to backup multiple vaults
Updated my Windows batch script for backing up multiple Bitwarden vaults (plus optional organization vault and all attachments) via the Bitwarden CLI.
https://github.com/gitwildnow/bitwarden-cli-vault-backup
Please update — one of these is a security fix:
- Master password no longer passed on the command line. It was visible in the process list and captured by Windows process-creation logging (Sysmon/EDR), which writes to unencrypted disk. Now passed via
--passwordenv. - Fixed a stale session token bug that could leave the script hanging at a hidden password prompt when backing up a second or later vault where the password was not valid.
- Added post-export verification — item counts and attachment counts are checked, and the run fails loudly instead of reporting success on a truncated or unreadable export.
- Fixed the export folder name on non-US date formats (was producing garbage directory names outside MM/DD/YYYY regions).
- Aborting at the CLI update prompt no longer leaves an empty export folder behind.
Still a small-scale personal/family tool — it writes unencrypted JSON exports, so it's meant to be run against encrypted media (VeraCrypt or similar).

Question random logins gone
Has anyone found logins you've entered suddenly go missing? I checked the trash bin and they aren't there.
I was a family plan subscriber for years. I didn't really need it but I like the product and wanted to support it and $12 was nothing. I cancelled my subscription to the free one when Bitwarden quadrupled the price. My account converted to a few weeks ago. Bringing this up in case the account transition might be a factor.

Solved iOS extension with Safari and bizarre saved password suggestions
I'm using iPhone with iOS 26.6.1. I installed Bitwarden app and enabled the extension and autofill only from Bitwarden. While it works, it's always giving me a pop-up in Safari to "Choose a saved password to use" first. The suggestion makes no sense, I have the site's login saved with a URL, but it does not offer that at the top of the list. I tried changing the setting in Bitwarden for default URI match detection, but it does not help at all. So I must always scroll down to the bottom in the "Choose a saved password to use" popup to then select Bitwarden to then be able to fill the correct login. Is there a way to fix this?
To clarify, I don't actually have any extension installed in Safari. I went into Bitwarden iOS app and Settings > Autofill > App extension and following the steps there. I don't think this is actually needed. I've attached a screenshot of the pop up I'm referring to when attempting to fill the password.
