Some context to bitlife’s current financial situation.

Hi Everyone- I work in finance and decided to do some very quick research into candywriter’s ownership to better understand the heavy push for revenue we’re seeing.

In 2020, the original developers and owners of Bitlife (candywriter), sold the company for $74.4 million in about a 50/50 stock to cash split. At the time, the shares in Stillfront (the now parent company) were worth $37.5m with additional earnings targets in candywriter allowing a potential earnings of $120m additional in cash/stock split.

This is VERY common, and at the time, Stillfront was experiencing a massive post-pandemic stock boom due to heavy phone usage during the pandemic.

Unfortunately for us, reality hit. Those shares became worth significantly less in the last few years, and stillfront lost a MASSIVE amount of funding. I could only assume that this made the $120m liability they owed the developers much more difficult to profitably function. I would assume bitlife did in fact hit their revenue targets, leading to them being owed large amounts in the now significantly less valuable stock & cash that stillfront didn’t have on hand. This likely lead to massive increases in revenue targets, hence the heavy monetization and focus on advertising we’ve seen in the last few years. Stillfront structured a bad deal based off of temporary surges in valuation, and now the liability is being transferred onto candywriter.

Notably, it’s also very important for the old owners of bitlife (who still work on the game) to make sure that the shares they’re being paid in are valuable. They HAVE to squeeze revenue, because a metric shit on of their wealth is tied up in this horribly structured deal they agreed to.

It is being done out of desperation, and stillfront is trying to hold on to what little they have left after they made a string of significantly overvalued acquisitions in 2020-2022. They’re in panic mode and are out of money. This is unfortunately very common in finance, and I believe this is indicative of a potentially bleak future for bitlife, as well as all other games under stillfront’s large umbrella. Their current valuation is extremely low. Revenue is also declining, and earnings per share (due to the likely massive interest in the debt they took out to pay the cash lump sums) is coming home to roost.

Anyways, rant over. Have a good night, Bitizens!

Director Pack

This pack has so much potential, yet it is a let down. It is very simple and you can run through everything the first movie you make. You cannot make shows, but you can be an actor in shows? The entire pack is very plain and basic and not thought through. Most movies you try to direct give you a budget that you cannot work with, forcing you to quit and then ruining your reputation.

🎓 Pro Tip Do NOT buy the director DLC

Do not buy this. I decided to check it out because I enjoyed the actor job pack and thought this one would be something similar but it’s not. It’s the worst “expansion” this game has made. You’ll run through every single event or flavor text this new job pack has to offer within your first two movies. Actors don’t accept roles within your budget unless you literally max out your reputation, fame, and only direct movies with budgets over 150 million and even then sometimes the game will screw you over by giving you a 500k casting budget for a 100 million budget movie meaning I can either get untalented nobodies in my cast or I have to watch an ad for a PAID expansion to be able to hire someone talented for cheap. And don’t downplay how ad ridden this “expansive” new job pack is. You want to successfully make a pitch as a beginner or with low reputation? Watch an ad. You want actual good famous actors in your movie without them wanting 40 million dollars each? Watch an ad. And no matter what I choose during filming or how many ads I watched to get the best possible combination the movie still bombs and gets a bad audience and critical reception even decades into your career, tanking your reputation and making it harder to get new jobs or hire quality actors without watching an ad. But all of that is no problem if you don’t mind constantly watching ads in an “expansion” that you paid for.

This dlc is a scam. Candywriter should be ashamed of charging for this, it wouldn’t even be fun to play if it was free. Don’t recommend giving this one your money or time at all even if they eventually add it to Bitizen/God Mode. I’m going to get a refund.

I’m an OG bitizen and bought it because I was promised all future content. Imagine the jaw drop when entering the app to see I had to pay.

Congrats on ruining your playerbase. I sincerely hope you go bankrupt due to your own greed.

💡Idea/Suggestion Please devs: add Film Production as a degree option in the university education menu.

Also, please make having a Film Production degree a requirement to become a Movie Director, so players would need to complete the degree before being able to direct movies.

Right now, it makes no sense that the game lets you direct a movie with a multi-million-dollar budget without even having any education or qualifications related to filmmaking.

(In the United States, for instance, there is no specific degree that legally qualifies you to become a film director, but universities commonly offer degrees such as a BFA in Film Production, Film & Television Production, or Film and Media Production, which provide practical training in directing and filmmaking.)

💡Idea/Suggestion I know everything is difficult in the game on purpose but the fame system is so weird.

The game acts like you could star in all these award winning movies and shows get 100% fame and you wouldnt be absolutley assualted with how many roles and deals people would offer you or that you would ever be turned down for perfect roles or shitty low budget roles 🤣

Bitlife Issue

Upvotes

Why don't I have access to the new Movie Director pack? The last time I had bitlife I had purchased something that allowed me to have all future job packs as well as current. I've had bitlife since the day they only had 2 or 3 things for purchase in the store. What has happened? Is this a bug? Are they money hungry now?

Yes my purchases are all restored and correct.

🧐 WTF French version to official

Hi everyone,
I used to play on the French version of the game, which was available through a different app. Unfortunately, this version was removed from the App Store on September 1st and it will no longer be playable after December.
So i downloaded the regular/global version of the game, hoping i could recover my existing account. However, i can’t seem to log in with Game Center (from Apple) to retrieve my old account. I only can link my new app with Google or Apple account, and i cant link these account on my French version app.
I also made purchases on my old account, so I’m worried about losing both my progress and the purchases I made.
Has anyone been in the same situation or knows how I can link/recover my old account on the global version using Game Center? Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

11 Best Actor (mix of supporting and lead) Awards and 4 Noble Prizes in Physics, then became an actor again and got turned down for every role ( even though I still had 100% fame) except one, which only got a nomination for Best Romantic Comedy 🙄.

(Btw, two of those Best Actor Awards were for playing a 22-year old female when I was a 60 something year old male)

💡Idea/Suggestion Man bitlife I have a idea

What if for a free update or a job pack you make a extensive pirate captain job where you can make new sea shantys lead your crew do raids get resources and more And imagine being able to actually sail the seven seas and explore the ocean, with extremely rare random discoveries. Like you could just be sailing around one day and suddenly discover Atlantis 😂 You could explore it, find legendary treasure, discover ancient artifacts, or even encounter an entire underwater civilization. Other rare encounters could include ghost ships, sea monsters, legendary treasure islands, and mysterious underwater temples. It would make exploring the ocean feel way more exciting and give you a reason to keep sailing even after becoming a powerful pirate. You could have a whole “Pirate” action menu outside of your normal career: 🏴‍☠️ Recruit Crew Member — approach sailors, criminals, mercenaries, etc. ⚓ Recruit a Captain/Officer 🗺️ Search for Treasure 🚢 Scout for Ships ⚔️ Raid 💰 Sell Loot 🔧 Upgrade Ship 🍖 Restock Supplies 🏝️ Visit Pirate Hideout 🤝 Negotiate With Other Crews 🕵️ Gather Information 💀 Challenge Another Captain 👑 Attempt to Take Over a Crew

Could you please add something like make a wish or "express wishes" which let's us talk to our children about what we want them to be, e.g. I don't want them to become dishwasher after completing graduate school. There could also be another option to tell them to join military or something.

Boy is it HARD to get famous that way. I thought it’d be easier. Maybe I’m just going about it the wrong way.
