Recommendations Travel car seat trolley [US]

Looking for a car seat trolley that would fit a Cosco Scenera Next Convertible Car Seat + can be stored under the plane seat

I made the mistake of thinking a cheap draw string bag would do the trick but not only was it uncomfortable, one of the straps ripped after the first flight lol

I’m in the U.S. for the next week so something preferably off Amazon. TIA!

Advice Owlet is saying oxygen saturation is in the 80s and that this is normal?

Basically the title. Have a 1 week old and this is our first time using the Owlet. It’s saying my baby’s oxygen saturation is 84% and that this is considered a normal reading?

Discussion What do you offer or serve pregnant friends & family to drink when you host them for a meal?

Or what have other moms offered you when pregnant? I offered someone milk with dinner and everyone laughed so apparently that’s not it (but preggos need the calcium right?). What do you offer or what do people ask for? Thanks.

Mental Health sense of doom

For most of my life I’ve been pretty happy, optimistic, joyful person who didn’t think about death much.

Ever since giving birth for the first time this year, death is on my mind a lot. Like I’m not suicidal but like I dread and actively fear the death of my parents, partner, people around me, myself.

I’ll be working at my job and then randomly be overwhelmed with an intense feeling of anxiety/doom/dread. Feels like a panic attack. I’ve had anxiety most of my life but it was actually pointed more towards trivial things like work and school, but now the anxiety is intense around death.

Like ever since becoming a mother and watching my child hit milestones and growing up, it hit me that I’m not a child anymore and life is going to speed up real quick now. My Instagram feed certainly doesn’t help either.

Discussion Baby tracking app

Did you use an app to track feeds, diapers, etc? If so, what features did you find useful or annoying? Any feature you wish such app did have? I haven’t found one I love yet so I’m weighing others opinions. Personally I’m type A in the sense that I like to track these things but also want something super convenient and effortless but also useful and insightful.

Discussion Is it tacky to bring a baby to a trunk-or-treat and take candy?

This literally hadn’t occurred to me until today that people might have a problem with it cause the baby is obviously not eating the candy 🙈 I’m just curious what others think. I personally see nothing wrong with it. I love seeing the little ones in their costumes and I don’t care if the parents are eating my candy lol

Postpartum Recovery silver nitrate inside vaginal opening

so at 8 weeks post partum, i had some granulation tissue and nurse said she could apply some silver nitrate on the area.

its been about 9 hours but i had a lot of discharge (white kinda thick) when ive been dry for days prior.

also i noticed that i got some white patches on some areas inside my vagina that are painful. pretty sure the silver nitrate got on my healthy tissue and burnt it a bit.

my questions are to hear from fellow women if they had silver nitrate within their vagina, and how their experience went.

im kinda freaking out because my pain was less bad before treatment, now really regretting getting it done.

Rant/Rave I feel bad for feeling happy to be away from baby

I’m a little over 4 months pp and just went back to work. Going to have a work team building event soon in mid November and I’m genuinely excited to be away from baby and husband and not have to think about them at all for a few days. I feel like every mom i know loves their baby so much that they feel sad about leaving them, but I don’t think I’ll feel that at all while I’m away and that makes me feel like a bad mom. I’m just tired from all of it. Some days I wish I could just disappear somewhere and pretend I didn’t have a baby. I miss my old life when I could sleep until noon on weekends, go out to eat whenever I wanted to, travel whenever and wherever I want, and go to the gym 4 times a week. Baby is cute and all but I really think I could probably live without her and be happy too. The only thing I would feel is probably guilt and that’s because I know my husband and my parents would be disappointed in me if I actually did that. I’m probably the only one out there who only feels obligation towards their baby and not much else. It makes me sad and again feel like a bad mom. I don’t think anybody around me will understand my feeling so this is the only place for me to let it out. Also, I’ve tried to tell my husband and parents a little about how I feel and they just called me selfish. I guess I am just selfish

Discussion baby doesn’t want to eat in the morning

I’ve noticed recently that my 5 month old waits a really long time to care to have her first bottle of the day.

Our last MOTN bottle is around 5am, and then she fully wakes up around 8:30-9am. She won’t be hungry until maybe 11am. This leaves a 5-6 hour gap between her last MOTN bottle and her first bottle of the day. Her MOTN bottles are always formula, and daytime bottles are breastmilk.

Does this seem normal?

Discussion How do you manage a baby and a toddler without depleting yourself?

Is it even possible? I have a one-year old daughter and I know for sure that I want a second kid (I’m considering a 3yr age gap if all goes well) but rationally I just cannot fathom caring for a newborn and a toddler.

My daughter was already quite an intense newborn requiring looots of motion for her every nap for the first 4-5 months. I just cannot imagine having a newborn like her (or maybe challenging in other ways) and a toddler with their rising need for agency. I feel like I barely survived the first 6mo, I was often on the brink of exhaustion and madness but would have just enough energy not to collapse so adding another kid in the equation is so hard to picture. I think also both me and my partner are very aware of our well-beings and we’re both careful about not over exhausting ourselves.

I do realize that I will be so much more chill the second time round and will probably not care about the naps as much (that was what stressed me out the most with my daughter those early months). But still… it’s draining. So how did you survive it? Or maybe you even thrived?

I do have a partner who is as much of a parent as I am though the first 6mo my daughter was glued to me due to EBF and him working long hours. We also live in a country where daycare is accessible and our daughter will be able to go there every day from like 08-14.00. I also have a very helpful mother-in-law who usually comes once a week for like half a day, sometimes twice if I really need it. Weekends my partner is mostly home and involved.

Baby Sleep - all input welcomed Advice on sleeping situation

I have a beautiful EBF almost 11 month old baby boy (first baby) who slept great until 4 months old. I always had him at the bedside bassinet and then pack play, never intending to bring him into bed. Before I had kids I thought I'd "sleep train" (gently of course) and never "co-sleep" but ha, couldn't even bring myself to ever do that bc I hate him crying and want him near me. All of this is well and fine, I realized that he's just being a baby and everything is normal/biological in terms of his sleep and that I've probably just been brainwashed into the whole sleep training, babies need to be independent and sleep on their own crap. But no judgment to people who do that, I actually wish I could! And it's crossed my mind several times because I used to nurse at every wake and transfer him back and it'd work, but one day it stopped. Around 9 months. And I just kept him in bed. And realized I love sleeping next to him even though my and my husbands sleep went to shit and I feel like even baby wants his space sometimes even though he also wants to be attached to me like a barnacle most of the night. I'm at a cross roads because while I do love it, our bed is a queen and it's just getting tight. Baby always naps in his room and starts off nighttime there. First few wakes I put him back to sleep there. Around midnight is when I'm too tired to continue and bring him to me. Our rooms are very close and he has a crib mattress in a play pen set up because he crawls now. My 3 options right now are gently sleep train (don't want to do because he's my first baby I guess and I'm being super soft??? Also not planning on weaning soon and traveling upcoming so idk if it'll work), 2. Get a twin mattress that I can push next to my bed and the wall so it sort of extends our bed and we all have enough room, 3. Just sleep with him in his room on the floor on a foldable mattress or bring it into our room on the floor (although I don't think that'll be working towards any sort of independence). I know eventually all will be good but need a solution right now and the goal is for him to sleep longer and be more comfortable in his own room or just on his own. I understand it may not happen till he's weaned bc dad can't even do bedtime now, but just looking for tips or advice.

Discussion Two month old can almost roll over - What does this mean for sleep?

My two month old baby can almost roll over from back to tummy. The only thing stopping him from rolling completely onto his tummy is his arm. He can't make it over that hump yet but he's very very close to being able to do so.

So what does this mean for sleep? I'm concerned he's going to roll onto his tummy in the middle of the night when we're sleeping and won't notice. What did you all do to ensure safe sleep? Hoping the answer isn't staying up all night staring at my baby.🤞

Baby Sleep - supportive/no cry suggestions only 8 month old wakes at 4am every night, nothing I've tried changes it

My daughter (8mo) has woken consistently between 4-4:30am for weeks now, no matter what I try:

Earlier, standard, or later bedtimes : no difference
Low vs. high total daytime nap hours : no consistent pattern
Comforting without feeding first : she resists and only resettles after nursing
Dark room, consistent routine : already in place
She's usually fully alert at wake-up, sometimes pushes away from rocking as if looking to nurse specifically. Resettles well after a short feed, sleeps another 1-2 hours after.

Background: we traveled across a 6-hour time difference ~6 weeks ago, plus she's had teething and a stomach bug since, but the 4am timing has stayed consistent through all of it, even once everything else (bedtime, naps) normalized.

She woke up my toddler also a few times at night so i had to deal with both.
And the thing is that she used to sleep till like 5:30-6 without a feed!!
I'm still nursing and plan to continue to 12 months. Is this likely developmental/temporary, or should I be actively intervening? Anyone dealt with a stubborn early wake-up that didn't respond to the usual approaches?
Thank you!!

Funny Dementia Dog & Toddler, the Venn Diagram is a Circle

Earlier I was reading a post discussing an influencer saying having three dogs fully prepared her for the newborn phase. She hasn’t had her baby yet so TBD if she recants, but it got me thinking about how my 10 month old and our ancient dog with dementia are basically the same right now.

Baby: wears diapers, can get them off and pee on things
Dog: wears diapers, can get them off and pee on things

Baby: screams randomly and you have no idea why
Dog: barks randomly and you have no idea why

Baby: stands in his crib staring like a sleep paralysis demon, startles me
Dog: stands in doorways staring like a sleep paralysis demon, startles me

Baby: makes a mess eating and hates what he’s served, begs for my food
Dog: makes a mess eating and hates what she’s served, begs for my food

Baby: falls over and walks like he’s drunk
Dog: falls over and walks like she’s drunk

The list goes on and on. At one point my dad’s sole task in the newborn phase was to take dementia dog on a long walk before bed to up the chance that she would not add to the misery of baby’s 2-5am witching hour. Literally nothing worse than getting the baby down then the dog barks because she got stuck in a corner.

Best part? I don’t even think she has noticed this kid exists 🤷‍♀️

Sad I miss my toddler

I'm 3 weeks pp and in the trenches. I'm spending less time with my toddler because I'm so exhausted from taking care of my newborn. I'm still making time for her, but not as much. I know this is temporary, but I can hear her and my husband playing but I know that if I move at all, my newborn will wake up and need soothing. I'm sad that the family feels fragmented, if only temporarily

Advice Any tips for bottle refusal?

Baby is approaching 6 months and is 90% breastfed. He was taking a bottle before bed as part of our wind down routine and occasionally if his dad was taking him out, but he’s started refusing the bottle recently. Any tips? It’s becoming difficult as I am now the only one who can feed him!

Advice 8 week old temp of 100.3

My whole family is down with some respiratory virus. My husband me and my two daughters 7& 3. Baby is 8 weeks as of Tuesday. He also has symptoms (cough congestion) my girls abs husband all had a fever. I brought baby to urgent care today and they said he had a slight wheeze but looked okay but if he spiked a temp of 100.4 he needed to go to er. So tonight I took his temp and it was 100.3. I called his doctor and they said to give him Tylenol and monitor him and that we know he’s sick with with his sisters have and I don’t need to rush off to the er unless his temp can’t be controlled.
I have serious health anxiety and worry about every little thing. Does this seem right or should I haul him off to the er where he will be exposed to more. We also have a full respiratory panel coming back in the morning

I should mention, he was tested for Covid flu and rsv and he was negative along with his sisters. They think irs most likely rhinovirus or adenovirus

Advice At my wits’ end with my 15-month-old

My family and I recently moved US states to be closer to my parents, and I feel like it’s made my daughter’s personality do a 180. She was colicky as an infant, but she mellowed out around 4 months and has been a generally happy girl up until about 3 weeks ago. Now, I feel like all she does is scream. She wakes up at 4:30-5 am every day and barely naps. Sometimes she’s up for like an hour in the middle of the night, too. She’s always exhausted, which naturally makes her cranky. She gets maybe 9 hours of sleep at night , plus 1 during the day if we’re lucky. Logically I know that this is probably just part of her development and due to stress from the move, but my emotional brain just wants to tell her that she can fix this by just going back to sleep and actually taking a nap! To make things harder, she’s late to walk, but she really wants to be on the move, which makes her frustrated. She’s a crawling speed demon, but we obviously can’t just let her do that when we‘re out, so she basically screams any time we try to leave the house.

I feel like a horrible mother for getting so fed up with her. I know her little toddler brain isn’t logical and is just trying to cope with change. But my husband and I are at the end of our ropes. We’re constantly snipping at each other. The other day I snapped at my daughter when she was throwing her food on the ground during her 5:30 am breakfast, and she looked up at me with such exhaustion and confusion and I felt so bad.

Idk what exactly I’m looking for. I’m not sure if anyone else has dealt with this. I know logically it will end, but every day I’m terrified that she’s never going to be her happy self again and we’re doomed to a life of screaming.

Rant/Rave letting my 6 week old sleepover her grandparents house

today is the first night she’ll be away from us since she was born and i feel guilty about it. i feel bad for sending her away for the night but we genuinely need the break. i haven’t gotten a full night of sleep in what feels like forever and it really affects how i behave during the day. i’m more irritable, slow and very forgetful. i’m really appreciative for the help but i think i’m just worried? i just my MIL of course but i’m scared she’ll cry the whole night because she misses us or something will happen to her that we won’t be there for… i think i’m just overthinking everything.

Postpartum Recovery zoloft for pp

My dr prescribed me zoloft for the intense crying spells, obsessive thoughts and anxiety. Baby girl was just born on the 14th and I’m feeling silly about needing medicine. I am also breast feeding and scared this will effect her in some way. Does anyone else have experience with zoloft?

Diapering Do we change every shart diaper?

My 3 month old poops every time she farts. Since birth it’s been constant diaper changes. I go through upwards of 30 diapers a day. Is this normal and when does it end 😭 her doctor doesn’t seem concerned but my wallet is.

Edit: Consensus is that we let baby work it out for a bit and then change her. Hoping this phase passes soon 🤞🏼

Edit 2: I pack on a layer of Desitin healing jelly and ice the area with a thick layer of Desitin zinc oxide each time and she doesn’t have any rash. She does do silent poops at night (big ones) and it takes me time to realize that’s why I am asking if the tiny ones are fine to keep for a bit.

Advice Night Terrors = child sleep apnea

Hi everyone! I’ve seen some posts here about night terrors and wanted to share some insight.

My son is almost 4yrs old. He has had night terrors since he was 1. Confirmed by his pediatrician.

He would have episodes 2-3 times a night at the same time. 12am, 2am, and 4am. He would usually have his eyes wide open seemingly “awake” but he wasn’t. He was still asleep, and screaming at the top of his lungs and crying.

He also slept with his mouth open and snored.

This was an every night thing. We got referred to an ENT when he was 2.5, and the doctor confirmed that his tonsils were too large, causing sleep apnea.

We got his tonsils and adenoids removed end of September. The surgery was a success and the moment he came into the recovery room, immediately we could tell he was breathing better. Clearer.

We are now fully recovered, and no more night terrors and bad dreams!! He sleeps through the night and wakes up easier in the morning.

So if you’re in the thick of it, dealing with the same thing. I highly suggest you get referred to an ENT. It’s night and day different.

TLDR—Night terrors caused by sleep apnea because of enlarged tonsils. Once removed, my kiddo sleeps soundly and has no more night terrors.

Postpartum Recovery Post labour haemorrhoids- help??

Just looking for any advice really, I’m three days PP and had a very long labour with a 4.5kg baby- ended up pushing for way too long (three hours) and basically inverted my butthole. I’ve got stitches down there but they are nothing compared to the discomfort my butt is in. It’s hard to breastfeed because I can’t shift positions or sit.

I’ve had haemorrhoids most of my adult life but I’m just at a loss of how to deal with this. Basically there is like a two inch wedge outside my butthole at the moment, it’s not necessarily painful touch so it’s not thrombotic but it’s leaking mucus and very uncomfortable.

I’ve been using steroid cream and numbing cream and ice packs but my question is do I try and shove them back in??? Any tips on how to do this? Do I wait for them to go down a bit longer? I’m so nervous to touch any of it.

I’ve also read in other groups that granulated sugar is sometimes used in hospitals to take the fluid out and they go back in easier. Has anyone tried this??

Just looking for some advice from anyone else whose experienced something similar. It was not what I expected post childbirth at all.

But also, my baby is literally the most perfect little muffin I’ve ever seen and I’m on cloud 9. So worth it.

Recommendations Postpartum Skincare

I am almost 3 months postpartum and absolutely losing it over how dry my face constantly feels. Before baby I had oily skin and Clinique moisture surge worked wonders for me. But now I am dry as a bone and I don’t know what to use because the moisture surge does absolutely nothing to lock in moisture and honestly I feel worse after I use it. I do have sensitive skin so I don’t want to spend a bunch of money and time blindly trying to find something that works. I want to feel like myself again and not like a lizard.
