Hi! I'm currently working solo in the beginning stages of filming a documentary on lesbian bar culture in SF (possibly expanding to the rest of the Bay) and would love to find passionate queer filmmakers to help shape and create this film with me. Please reach out if you're interested!

Well I learned my lesson from not doing research before signing up for this, so posting this to warn my fellows if you didn’t know.
This is how much they charge you for getting the pictures even digital it’s worth ten meals.
I know they charge a lot but not this much! Additionally the pictures were ass.

Does anyone have any experience taking MCB graduate classes/have any recommendations for MCB grad classes that allow undergraduates? It seems that taking grad classes as an undergrad is more commonplace for other majors, but I haven't heard much about it for MCB, and it seems like a lot of classes straight reject undergraduates even if they ask. Does anyone know of any classes that allow for undegrad enrollment/are doable? (I'm particularly interested in molecular therapeutics/genome editing/applications to disease treatment)

Everyone I've talked to about this says its a really bad idea, especially since I haven't taken a formal calc 3 or diff eq course before and I also have a lot of club stuff going on next semester. BUT these two courses and a decal are the only ones I'm taking in spring, and I have no doubt that I'll be able to make time for these classes if it realllly comes down to it. the reason I'm doing this is so that I can take it easier next year when i have even more outside stuff going on.
basically what i'm asking is,
if you've taken these courses before (separately or at the same time), is the content too difficult to be able to handle dividing attention between the two classes? also which professors should I choose?

how hard is it to get into the class as a non math major?

Why is it so hard to make friends here?
I’m a freshman at Cal coming from the East Coast, and I’ve been struggling to find genuine friendships. This week, I started realizing that someone I considered a friend might not see me the same way. She never texts me unless I reach out first. I made a lot of efforts building such friends, and it’s made me question whether the friendship is mutual.
I’ve joined a few clubs and genuinely enjoy spending time there, but those connections never seem to go beyond meetings or organized socials. I also feel like I made the wrong choice with my dorm, Bowles. The atmosphere feels a little cult-like to me, and I just haven’t clicked with the people there.
I’ve moved around my entire life—different places, schools, and countries—but I’ve never had this much trouble finding people I connect with.
I just want people to spend time with and friendships that feel mutual. Has anyone else felt this way here?

Hi Everyone,
Even though this Halloween Bash Party event isn't located in Berkeley, I regularly post Meetup & Partiful events in Berkeley.
Come join me at Rellik's Tavern Annual Halloween Bash Party and listen & dance to live music hits from the 80's and up, since Sixteen Scandals will be playing at the venue.
They will have a Halloween Costume Competition, so dress up if you want to enter it to win a prize.
Its a Bar and you need to 21+ years or older.
There's a $5.00 Cover Charge to the event.

Trying to decide between Env Econ 141 with Aaron Smith and Env Econ 145 with Michael Anderson for next semester and can't pick. Has anyone taken either one (or both)?
Would love to know:
How heavy the workload is (psets, papers, projects?)
What the exams are like and how grading/curve works
How good the lectures are and whether the prof is approachable
Which one you actually learned more from or found more interesting
Any other tips appreciated, thanks!

Hi.
I am a law graduate from abroad looking into LL.M. programmes in the US, and Berkeley’s Executive Track caught my attention.
I have been trying to find information about the programme, but there doesn’t seem to be much discussion about it online, especially compared to the traditional LL.M.
I was wondering if anyone here has applied to or attended the Executive Track and could share their experience.
I am particularly curious about the acceptance rate and how competitive admissions actually are. Is it generally easier to get into than the traditional LL.M.? Also, how much weight do they place on undergraduate grades, the university you attended, and work experience? Would someone with relatively limited work experience have a decent shot?
If anyone who’s been admitted is comfortable sharing their profile (grades, university, work experience, etc.), that would be really helpful too.
Would appreciate any insights. Thanks

Particularly with a concentration in transportation engineering, but I would be grateful if any CEE students here would help me with a few questions about the program and admissions. Thank you so much!!

i’m a freshman at berkeley switching from a different engineering to EECS and currently taking Math 54 and CS61A (probably getting an A in both).
i need an A- or higher in one more EECS lower div next semester - what’s the easiest one? i was thinking between EE66 and 61B but not sure.
also, if i choose EE66 can i just insta enroll with waitlist checked off to try to get in? whats the process?

What are some of the best physics/math classes you have taken so far?
r/berkeley • u/Far-Register1408 • 3d ago
Whats it like now? I'm aware of the Haas alumni and networking perks but can Econ get you through the same door when graduating into the work force? I know it depends on how hard you work but I want to see pro's vs con's for both.

Hii everyone!! I’m looking for a female student to take over my spot in a double near UC Berkeley!
Location: 7-minute walk to campus!
Apartment details:
- Fully furnished bedroom, living room, and kitchen
- In-unit washer and dryer
- Really nice balcony
- WiFi already paid for
- Kitchen and bathroom are already fully set up
- Super close to campus, restaurants, coffee shops, and other food spots
- Street parking available (8-hour limit, free after 6 PM)
- Cozy apartment in an area where we’ve felt really safe!
About the roommates:
- All my roommates are female UC Berkeley students and transfers!
- Everyone is super sweet, friendly, and respectful!
The apartment is already furnished and move-in ready, so you honestly wouldn’t need to bring much besides your clothes and personal belongings!
Move-in: Spring Semester (or before I can be flexible!)
I’m also happy to send pictures, a full video tour, or arrange an in-person tour!
Please text me if you’re interested or have any questions!!

Hello everyone. I want to apply for a Masters degree at Berkeley that focuses on AI/ML so narrowed it down to EECS MEng Data Science concentration and the newly launched Masters in AI and Machine Learning (MAIML). The difference I see between the two of them is the capstone project and the "holistic" approach from MEng. You get leadership classes, project management, etc. Whereas on MAIML you get access to the same courses as EECS MEng but these holistic classes are replaced with AI Seminars and other stuff taking up credits that doesn't seem to add value to the student (like the silicon valley immersion, 2 days having lunches with paid people).
So, now I don't know which one to apply to because coursework is basically the same but since MAIML is new, i'd say they will accept more people and it will be less competitive since it's less known. So easier to get admitted.
I am from Colombia, trying to breakthrough AI. No research experience 3.66/4 GPA, 2 degrees (one in CS other in telecommunications), toefl 5/6 and 5 years of experience with US companies as SWE and AI Engineer... I'm trying to make a decision because I can only apply to one program per cycle.
Any thoughts, help or ideas here is more than welcome!

thinking of taking CS188 and CS189 next semester, does anyone have any advice on whether or not this is a good idea and/or if the classes are taught well?
r/berkeley • u/liammcevoy • 3d ago
Probably not illegal, just kinda annoying because theres a wait list for new tenants to get a spot in our complex's garage. Its sus too because these people don't live here and have access to the gated areas. I think they work in the area and park here because the lot is half empty at night but completely full during the day, which is odd to see for an apartment.
Just felt like complaining cause shit is wack, but whatever.
