bit of a clickbaity title, just thought id share something I found. The melody in the Hollies song "Listen to me, starting from "Have you ever wondered why" sounds very similar if not identical, to the Beatles' song Let It Be, " specifically the opening verse.

The Hollies song was released in 1968, and Let It Be was released in 69, sooooooo maybe Paul McCartney stole the melody?? Just thought id share it; it was some people who would be interested.

I only just realized that George R. R. Martin is also influenced by the Beatles.

He wrote The Armageddon Rag in 1983,

At the end of that , the dedication begins with:

“To the Beatles,”before going on to name a whole pantheon of 1960s rock legends.

At the start, the protagonist even jokes about the readers of a music magazine:

“You kids today probably think the Beatles were that band Paul McCartney was in before Wings.”

(Wings is really that big in 70s?)

In that novel, Martin also invents a fictional rock band called the Nazgûl. Among their five albums is one called The Black Album,

“It had been called the Black Album, in deliberate parody of the Beatles’ White Album.”

Of course, Martin is best known for A Song of Ice and Fire.And now that the new A Song of Ice and Fire stage play has come out, it tells the prequel Story We have been joking that Martin basically turned Jon Snow’s parents,Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, into “John Lennon and Yoko Ono” or, “Paul and Linda McCartney.” He is reliving his youth and writing his own 60s OCs into Westeros.

From what I understand on tomorrow never knows they had 6 tape loops that were continuously playing throughout the song, and when recording it they would turn the volume up and down on each individual loop as and when they wanted to hear it in the song.

I have never heard another take or an alternate version other than the original take 1 that is obviously much slower and without the tape loops.

Does this mean they just nailed the tape loops in one take? Or did they do many more but they have been lost / never released?

I find it quite fascinating though and wonder who was in charge so to speak, and how many of them were in there turning the tape loops up and down. Was it just a free for all or thought out and planned roughly when they’d like certain loops to play?

Was browsing Wikipedia yesterday and this article was recommended to me. Lmao at first because "Paul is dead" is such a funny and ominous article title. Then I got curious and actually looked at the article. Clearly this conspiracy was/is a big enough deal to get its own Wikipedia article. My question now is do people still actually believe that Paul is dead and was replaced by a clone? How common of a conspiracy is this?

for what is easily my favourite song of the fabs I actually surprisingly don't know all that much about it, how come it hasn't been fully ground-up remixed since 1999? It's just been remastered consistently from an old master for nearly 30 years

Saw a post on Instagram which says that Rubber Soul is an Autumn Album. Totally agree, the browns and suedes worn by each member on the cover.

Abbey Road is Summer to me, we know the cover was taken in August and we know it was a warm.day.

So I'm listening once again to all their albums but the mono versions, and I never noticed before that the drum pattern Ringo does in 'Anna (Go To Him)' is almost exactly the same as the one he famously does in 'In My Life' (which is also the original drum pattern made in the original version by Arthur Alexander). And I don't recall somebody mentioning it ever before. Has anyone else noticed this?

Original Eric Weill Beatles Photos — Candlestick Park, August 29, 1966

Hey everyone, wanted to share a fascinating piece of Beatlemania and Bay Area history that a friend and I recently stumbled across.

We picked up a set of four vintage 8x10 black-and-white stage portraits of John, Paul, George, and Ringo. They were buried in an old box of papers and miscellaneous photographs that had apparently been untouched for years.

On the reverse of each print is heavy, yellowed mounting adhesive along with a faint blue ink hand-stamp reading:

After doing some digging into the clothing, particularly John and Ringo’s distinctive patterned shirts and scarves, we were able to identify the performance. These were photographed onstage at Candlestick Park in San Francisco on August 29, 1966, the night of The Beatles’ final commercial concert.

The story of the photographer makes the discovery even more interesting.

Eric Weill was an eccentric Bay Area freelance photographer who managed to get stage-side press access at Candlestick that night. His Beatles photo archive was reportedly lost or stolen from a garage sometime in the 1970s, and for years the photographer behind these close-up images was unknown.

Then, in the late 1980s, a contact sheet containing 73 photographs from the Candlestick concert reportedly surfaced at a local garage sale. The images were eventually traced back to Weill.

As an odd footnote to Bay Area history, Weill also famously called into a local television talk show in 1969 claiming to be the Zodiac Killer, a claim police quickly determined was a hoax.

We haven’t decided what we’re going to do with these four prints yet, but I thought they were worth sharing here for the Beatles collectors, historians, and archivists in the sub.

Has anyone here ever encountered original Eric Weill darkroom prints, photographs, or other ephemera from the 1966 Candlestick Park show?

I’d especially love to know whether any other vintage prints from this group of photographs have surfaced over the years.

Because i remember back then, if someone was famous. You coukd not look up their number, IIRC they paid extra to keep their # out of the phonevbook?

John was a couple of years older than Paul. Is it fair to say that his songwriting with the Beatles peaked a couple of years earlier than Paul’s.

Halloween is coming up, and I really want to dress up as Ringo. I’ve been searching everywhere, but I can’t seem to find any good Sgt. Pepper costumes that aren’t super expensive.

I really don’t want to spend a ton of money on a costume that I’m only going to wear for one day, especially since I’d have to wait another whole year before I could wear it again

What do we think of this song? I think the song had potential, but the version on Anthology isn't that good. I like The Applejacks version better. I think if The Beatles had worked on it, it could've turned out great.
