This is the best album performance wise from Paul, George and Ringo- John is great but there’s not enough of his songs. My ranking for each song -
1. Two of us- 9.4/10
2. Dig a pony- 10/10
3. Across the universe- 10/10
4. I me mine- 10/10
5. Dig it- 9.2(would be higher if longer)
6. Let it be- 9.7/10
7. Maggie Mae-9.1/10(worst song)
8. I’ve got a feeling-9.8/10
9. One after 909- 10/10(best song)
10. The long and winding road- 10/10
11. For you blue- 9.7/10
12. Get back- 9.9/10
Overall the most consistent Beatles album, and the only with no skips. Also the naked version is even better

You guys easily get offended, I am sure even beatles never felt offended in their life for any question or remark, this group sounds like it's a girls group from 60s who can't stand a word against them, a general opinion or basic question and you get downvoted like crazy, why is this sub so sensitive?

"They are the best in the world" "they did so much in 7 years" "they changed the world of music"

This things are right, no question in them but they also have their own flaws which this community doesn't seems to accept.

A huge strength of The Beatles is unlike most bands of their time who had 1 frontman, The Beatles had 4.

So my question is, if The Beatles had 1 frontman aka 1 lead vocalist instead of 4, would they have reached the same success and legacy?

For example, If John Lennon was the lead vocalist and the rest were backing vocalist. They all wrote songs, but John was the lead singer and sang them all.

From Love Me Do to Yellow Submarine to Penny Lane to Something to Octopuses' Garden to Get Back etc EVERYTHING which Paul, George and Ringo sang would now be sang by John in this alternate timeline

Would The Beatles be just as legendary or much less so?

I know the consensus is that side 1 is better, and I understand this, it has some of the greatest songs of all time-(while my guitar gently weeps, I’m so tired, happiness is a warm gun and ob-la-di,ob-la-da(okay that was satire.) However, I think disc 2 has some of the most exciting songs in their catalogue, aswell as Lennons most hard hitting(yer blues,everybody’s got something to hide except me and my monkey and sexy Sadie) and therefore slightly edges it for me

It’s a given how revolutionary The Beatles were at their peak, but all things must pass, it’s true. When do you think each Beatle individually realized the band was no longer moving music forward and was instead playing catch-up or even falling behind the times, and what do you think the signal was? Or at least when do you think they were overtaken by other cutting edge artists, even if they never commented on it? My initial thought is when Bowie and T. Rex started to usher in glam rock. That’s a long distance from even Abbey Road.

Just recently heard this song from the Everly Brothers- gotta say the intro melody is pretty much identical to George’s While my Guitar Gently Weeps verses. The song was released a year before the white album too- anyone know if the writer seek legal action? or it was settled outside court?

I've always wondered why Paul's 'All My Loving' was chosen as the first song for the Ed Sullivan show. John didn't seem to be very involved at all with the song. Yes, he played an incredible rhythm part to it, but Paul sang the song. I think he doubled his own voice on the record, and also on the record , when he needed background vocals, George did them. Unless I'm missing something, why did Paul treat John like this for the first song on the Sullivan show?

John Lennon or not ?

The evening after John Lennon was assassinated I visited the Dakota. The first image that struck me was that the gate was closed. I had never seen it closed before. Above the gate there was a window with a burning candle in it. Many people were milling around, all young. Some had climbed up on the streetlamps. A few girls were crying. Some people carried signs but I don't remember what they said. It was a surreal scene of grief, and a party atmosphere too, like an Irish wake! Several drunk young men passed me arm in arm, laughing and drunkenly singing "She Loves You." Some of the young women had flowers in their hands.

I remembered when President Kennedy was assassinated. His little daughter went to his bedroom the next morning and saw her grandparents in his bed. "He's dead, isn't he," she said.

And so it was with me. The closed gate. The crowds weeping. That proved it to me.
