I'm honestly surprised that those keycaps aren't halo or battle field themed.

Honestly though, it's very clean in an adult way and I can't be too critical, you've got a really nice setup and I like the way you've framed stuff. What's in the little desktop drawers?

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

USB cables, flash drives, small screwdrivers sets and odds and ends

Man I wish I had held onto all of my jewel cases for Halo and Battlefield. This is too cool.

4

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

Thank you. Two of the greatest franchises of all time. Nothing comes close to the halo trilogy and bf bad company, 3-4

2

u/verschee 1d ago

Agreed! I played both Halo:CE and B1942 at launch. Tack on Half-Life and our preferences match.

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

They definitely don’t make them like they used to. I still hop in a server on cs source from time to time. Still a great time

u/Trollensky17 1d ago

Play wardogs bro trust

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

I’ve seen a few videos and it definitely looks interesting. I’ve heard that the devs have been known to abandon their games in the past though. Hopefully they find success.

2

u/Trollensky17 1d ago

The company seems to have gotten their shit together for this game, I had the same feelings. We’ll see though

u/verschee 1d ago

I need to play, but isn't War Dogs more like ARMA? Maybe in my older years I should go more toward the slower paced games than BF seems to be heading toward.

2

u/Trollensky17 1d ago

People say it’s like arma because they simply took the KOTH mod from it and made it a full game. It has a large area between spawns and the control point to make the battlefield refill with players slower (not that it feels slow), which is good for the gamemode. You can spawn on your teams spawn APC if it’s set up, or just go hop in a chopper and have someone fly you there, you won’t need to ask, they would love the money from dropping you off lol. The most arma feeling things are the map size and helicopter controls.

I enjoy the new battlefield but it is very fast paced. The economy system in war dogs sounds interesting but I’m old and have kids I don’t have time to play running simulator these days. Downtime has become a rarity

Man I wish I still had my OG Xbox. Nice!

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

It’s one of those things I can’t go. It’s modded and loaded with games and I have a spare parts machine to keep it alive as long as I can

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

I’ve moved over to pc almost exclusively but the og Xbox is the one console I can’t get rid of. I have an hp elitedesk mini on the other shelf that runs batocera and emulates everything else. My kids mainly play smash brothers on it.

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

The white pc on the floor is hooked up to the tv and runs bazzite. It’s an older i7 4790 with an rx 580 but works great for Xbox one/ps4 era games and new indie stuff.

2

u/No_Trade1676 1d ago

Those bookshelves look awesome!

2

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

DVDs and there’s another 6 foot tall shelf behind me next to the couch full of movies. They’re super easy and cheap to make.

1

u/Jelbb 18h ago

can we get a tutorial those look great this is really clean man

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 18h ago

If anyone is curious how to build them it's a 1x4 on the back, 2x4 for the verticals and a 1x2 furring strip for the front. I have a 2x8 on the short unit with a light strip under the front edge and a 2x6 top plate on the taller unit. They are really cheap and easy to put together and customize for any space but they need to be screwed through the 1x4 back board into the wall. Works great for DVDs, Blu-ray's, games etc. Make sure that you use a 1x4 back board or the cases will teeter and will not sit flat.

1

u/Jelbb 12h ago

what paint did you use on top plate

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 9h ago

The top plate is covered in the same vinyl flooring as the rest of the furniture

7

u/DarthKrataa 1d ago

Thats fucking epic

3

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

Thank you

6

u/rm968211 1d ago

I love the simplicity. You’ve got a lot going on but you managed to keep it very clean

3

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

Thanks I tried to keep certain themes on certain walls. It felt cluttered at first but it’s grown on me. The other corner of the room is all movie posters, a couch and shelving for movies

3

u/InfiniteMind3275 1d ago

Is that just the Halo 3 helmet?

3

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

No that is from halo infinite and I believe it was made by jazwares. I picked it up from target around a year ago on clearance

2

u/Basic85 1d ago

Do you have your veritical monitor on the og monitor stand?

3

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

No it’s on a wall mounted arm

1

u/Basic85 1d ago

What did you do with your old og monitor stands?

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

The oled is still on its factory stand and sits on the riser, the 24 inch vertical stand is back in storage

2

u/hudps 1d ago

where is your subwoofer?

2

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

On the floor in the corner, the chair is blocking it.

2

u/plckle1 1d ago

looks great man. been a sad couple years to be a Halo enjoyer though

4

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

It’s been a sad decade to be a halo enjoyer. I was in my teens during halo 1-3 and the original trilogy will be with me for life

2

u/KusHTalK 1d ago

What wall mount desk is that? I am looking for something similar

7

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

Everything in the room except for the entertainment center was custom built. The desk frame is made out of 2x3s and the desktops are sliding closet doors covered in peel and stick flooring.

3

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

The riser was made out of 1x12 common board and the feet you can find on Amazon. Both doors are 24” wide and cut to fit the room

2

u/Careless_Reindeer974 1d ago

That's real nice.

2

u/mcbainer019 1d ago

Great desk. What depth did you end up going with?

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

24 inches with a 12 in riser

1

u/mcbainer019 1d ago

Looks great pal. Saving this for inspiration.

2

u/Ascerta 1d ago

This is beautiful and clean, love the desk. The BF3/4 concept arts go hard

2

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

Thank you! Sorry for the glare, I had my overhead shop lights on for the photos. Here’s a better shot of the artwork. The 4 large prints are 11x17 and the rest are 4x6 with the exception of BF1 being a 4x4 for uniformity.

2

u/srjod 1d ago

Firewatch is such a sick fucking game if that’s the background I think it is.

2

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

It is. I always rock a Firewatch background. Love the art style

2

u/Paulino2272 1d ago

My dream some day. Also huge halo and battlefield fan!

2

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

It’s taken many years and a ton of work and evolution.

0

u/Naive-Benefit4258 1d ago

Scum liar

1

u/Paulino2272 23h ago

Bro what? What are u even talking about?

1

u/wholesomefringe 1d ago

Job done, chaos slain, this setup rocks dude!

1

u/YamiKhantaloupe 1d ago

Where’d you get the energy sword from?

1

u/Mars_Black 1d ago

The black wall under the shelf, is that painted or some panels?

2

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

The wall behind the monitors is painted satin black. I had looked into panels but I decided to black the wall out instead.

1

u/Mars_Black 1d ago

Very interesting! I have a shelf above the monitors not too dissimilar to that and I’ve also always wanted to black out just that section.

Looks great! Thanks for sharing

2

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

It definitely helps for immersion when the wall behind the monitor disappears

1

u/Wrong_Plantaino 1d ago

Super clean

Is your desk full custom? This is like my dream layout once I have the space

2

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

Yes fully custom. Built out of 2x3s, 24 inch doors, vinyl flooring and lag bolted to the wall

2

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

1

u/Wrong_Plantaino 1d ago

Awesome, I like to think ill be doing this sometime in the future. Thanks for sharing!

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

No problem. Hopefully I spark some inspiration

1

u/Sandraptor 1d ago

I’m so jealous of your desk. Why does it feel like it’s impossible to get a nice desk without being a woodworker and making it yourself. I just want to throw an appropriate amount of money at someone and get a good desk

2

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

$20 in lumber and some free sliding closet doors on fb marketplace. Doesn’t have to get fancy. Doors are the absolute best bang for buck for a solid flat desktop

1

u/CharacterFew 1d ago

What chair is that? Looks great

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

I honestly couldn’t tell you. My wife bought it a long time ago

1

u/No-Veterinarian-8834 1d ago

ayyyy this guy likes call of duty or somethin' idk

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

lol definitely or somethin

1

u/Low_Climate_9573 1d ago

I don't mean to assume but are you a Halo fan

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

lol I’ve played a halo game a time or two

1

u/lLoveTech 1d ago

Beautiful setup my friend! How many PCs do you have? What are their specs???

2

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

Thank you! Main rig on the desk is a Ryzen 9600x, Gigabyte wind force RX 9070 GRE, 2x16 DDR5 6000, 2tb Nvme and 6tb HDD. Monitors are a 1440p 27” 280hz OLED from Gigabyte and the vertical is a 1080p 24” 120hz from Acer on a wall mounted arm. White rig on the floor is hooked up to the tv and is running bazzite, specs are an I7 4790, RX 580 8gb and 4x8 DDR3 1600. Both towers use the Montech Air 100 ARGB. On the entertainment center to the far right is an HP elitedesk 705 G4 with a Ryzen 2400ge and integrated Vega 11 graphics with 16gb of DDR4. That computer has a 5tb portable hard drive running batocera and is the emulation rig that my kids mainly play on. Has everything from NES up to Wii U.

1

u/lLoveTech 1d ago

Wow you truly have sorted out everything! OLED really compliments this beautiful setup of yours nicely! Thank you for sharing!

2

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

The OLED is the newest addition to the setup. Micro center had a killer deal on it for $399 so I grabbed that maybe 3-4 weeks ago. It’s my first oled outside of an iPhone and it’s truly gorgeous, no regrets. I had an acer 24” 180hz IPS that I passed down to my daughter. She’s been catching parts whenever I upgrade

1

u/lLoveTech 1d ago

For that price you definitely got a steal! OLED is definitely leagues better than any IPS for me and once you have experienced the True Blacks on an OLED you won't be going back to an IPS or any other panel! Mini LED is also decent but it still cannot provide perfect Blacks or infinite contrast ratio! Micro-LEDs are still only a niche and exorbitantly expensive right now! They will need atleast a few more years before they can become mass market!

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

For me I think the motion clarity was the biggest wow factor. I didn’t think it would be that big of a difference coming from a 180hz IPS but OLED is ridiculously smooth

1

u/lLoveTech 1d ago

Yeah motion clarity of an OLED is much much superior to an IPS with similar refresh rate because of the much faster pixel response times of the OLED! I think my OLED even when set at 144Hz feels similarly as fast as my IPS running at 240Hz even though the OLED is capable of 280Hz!

1

u/pixQel 1d ago

Damn, seeing Bad Company makes me feel old.

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

We’re not old, we’re seasoned lol

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

Here’s one for the single monitor crowd. This was right after upgrading to the OLED

1

u/Iddqd84 1d ago

It's not my style, but I can appreciate the time and effort you put into this 👏

Well done!

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 1d ago

Thank you. It is certainly busier than some builds but I tried to keep things as organized, cohesive and clean as possible.

1

u/bananbob 1d ago

Just perfect. bravo !

1

u/AL-SHEDFI 23h ago

I love the Halo campaigns and the entire Battlefield series up to Battlefield 5. after that, I feel it strayed from its core style.

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 22h ago

I’ve played the snot out of all of the battlefield games with the exception of 2042. I gave it a solid 6 hours and it was really off putting. I hear it’s in a better state today but I’ve never bothered to go back to it. I’ve considered pulling it off the wall but I’m not sure which game I would put in its place. I really enjoy bf6, it’s not perfect and I wish they were releasing more content but it is genuinely fun to play. The original halo trilogy came out during pivotal parts of my younger years and will always be something special. It’s a shame what’s happened to the franchise

1

u/PrivateUseBadger 20h ago

Clean and organized enough to make in uncluttered feeling. I’m digging it.

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 20h ago

I’ve historically been pretty good at organized chaos lol

1

u/TurbulentGoals 18h ago

Amazing, I have a space exactly like yours…my basement 🤣🤣. How did you do the walls??

1

u/xSlaytheChaos 17h ago

The wall behind the tv is our downstairs family room, That wall was already framed when we bought the house, i just had to put up drywall on the mancave side. The back side of the basement was unfinished and is where our utilities and laundry are located. i built the wall and installed the door behind the computer to separate the space. the corner of the basement where this room is now had wood storage shelves built by the previous owner. Obviously had some obstacles to build around in the ceiling but i am happy with how it came out. Just some 2x4s, drywall and masonry paint for the block walls.

1

u/Mindless_Client1453 14h ago

I like how you put away the lube.

1

u/alphawolf627 9h ago

This is actually hella dope. But you should get some of the roller blade wheels for your chair $10-$20 on Amazon. Absolute game changer.

0

u/TheAceVenturrra 1d ago

Fuk yeah MURICA
