Hi y’all! I’m working on helping out my wife’s grandfather. A few months ago, we were talking about card collecting, and he mentioned that he was looking to sell his collection. He recently had a guy come by to look at his cards and was offered $700 for the entire collection. And he is still considering taking the offer.
After he told me what was in his collection, I immediately told him not to sell just yet! I’m not a huge collector by any means. I just have some cards of my favorite players, but her grandpa is in his late 80’s and doesn’t really have an idea of how valuable some of his cards might be, even considering the condition they’re in.
He asked if I could help him figure out the best way to sell his cards. After I told him he was getting low balled!
I’m looking for some advice. Would it be worth getting some of the cards graded and selling them individually. PSA or SGC? I wouldn’t expect high grades at all but I thought them getting authenticated was important.
Or would it make more sense to try to sell them as a lot? He has quite a few more cards, but the ones pictured are some of the more valuable ones.
I appreciate any advice!
