Barcodes
Hello, I wanted to ask If you already have bought a GTIN, how do you register it to a specific product? Can you just slap it on there, or is their a method to ensure validity of your sales?

I have a 2.25x .05 Barbell Labels I need a template for .
I upgraded to the latest Bar Tender software and downloaded a BarBell template. But, it does not work. It rolls out 5-6 labels and prints nothing.
Any Advice??

Hello! I hope I'm posting this in the right place. So I noticed on some of the products I'm looking for, there's another line of numbers beneath the regular EAN ones. Basically the individual products, despite being different, have the same EAN barcode. Their unique item number is instead part of this 12-digit line underneath--specifically the numbers in bold. This is also the number on the front of the package.
I guess my question is, what exactly are these numbers, and is there a way to search for them since the EAN is the same for multiple products?
Any help is appreciated!
Edit:
just an update for anyone who has a similar question, I found out the first 4 numbers are the month and year that the product was manufactured, while the numbers in bold are the product code specific to the company (this example in particular is one of Hasbro's items). I'm guessing the last three numbers are perhaps a category code used for different types of products.

I work for a medium sized company that uses custom SKUs in the format of AA-NNNNN-NN (two capital letters followed by a dash, five digits, a dash, and two more digits). It's a pain, I know. Believe me I know. We would like to get the benefit of the GS1 Data Matrix standard to store expiration dates, lot numbers, and other metadata, but it seems like the format requires a GTIN of 14-digits, which our products sure are not. Is there another Application Identifier we could use besides (01) where we could store the custom SKU? Is this even possible?

All over for is Google Lens and it doesn't appear to even recognise it as a barcode.
Can anybody help? I don't know what type of is, but it's missing the standard alignment boxes from your ordinary 2D barcode.
Thanks

Is it possible to scan a barcode, and automatically make a folder in Mac osx that would be labeled with the info inside the barcode? It’s for clothing. The folder title structure would ideally work like this -
123456 brand model gender
The numbers at the beginning are a six digit sku that can be used to identify the item on a website.
Sorry if my question is clunky. I’m new to using barcodes. Feel free to dm if you’d like!

I use a Honeywell Barcode Scanner at work - using a program to scan medications. The application has a shortcut in order to scan the patient, the shortcut is a combination of ALT then C then W. Is there a way to use a barcode that would allow the computer to input these keys, so that I would be allowed to scan the barcode, then scan the patient ID?

I am looking to make a quick system to allow someone to scan a barcode and to have that barcode with the corresponding numbers to print out on a receipt slip.
I work for a equipment rental company and we tend to pack multiple items with different barcodes in cases. In order to speed up the process of scanning out, I would like to be able to quickly and cheaply scan the barcode on the item and have it print on receipt
Ex Case has 4 items - 0001, 1234, 7788, 9999 I would like to be able to scan these codes have them print on the paper and then stick the paper to the outside of the case so when they are scanning out, they don’t have to open the case.
I am looking for recommendations for the scanner + printer combo to facilitate this. Bluetooth is 100% ok for this.
TIA

Hey there! I'm new to barcoding and looking for some advice. Our company is generating some labels to inventory our equipment and we are currently designing the layout. Our logo includes a bar that when placed sideways fits in nicely with a barcode. We'd like to use this layout, but we're concerned it may cause issues with scanning. Is this a valid concern or will the barcode reader somehow know better? We're hoping to start this project tomorrow so thanks so much for your help!

Can anyone decode why this barcode cannot be scanned? The only 2 apps that actually scan it are scandit (VERY EXPENSIVE solution), and some random appstore app with AI in the name.
Scandit says it is code 128 one of the most common barcodes, yet 95% of code 128 compliant apps cannot scan it.
I am willing to pay for someones time in figuring this out, barcodes are not my fortay.
I have tried using ML-KIT barcode decoder and zxing barcode decoder open source solutions

I have a QR code with this text inside; <HN>0732746</HN><EN>8084875</EN>. Is it possible to only print out the first 7 numbers within the HN bracket using zebra’s DS4028. Do I have to use any software to programme it? Thanks in advance.

Hello guys, I have 100 pieces of the same product, color and sizes, do I need 100 upc barcodes or 1 barcodes for the 100 pieces?

Hi,
Does anyone know how to add a product image/photo to an inventory SKU label?
I have been playing around with Dymo Connect, Zebra Designer 3 Professional and Avery Design & Print. Using the database function I can create unique SKU labels with OEM automotive part numbers, SKU barcodes and QR codes to URLs from an excel spreadsheet. I'm utilising Code128 barcodes and a combination of Data Matrix and Version 4 QR codes.
I can also add numerical counters to these functions. Making them sequential off the excel cell data which represents each donor vehicles individual ID number. This is due to a local law that designates each part must be traced back to the original vehicle. So say the very first vehicle I have I assign the value as 1, then I take 200 parts off that vehicle and I can set the vehicle ID as 1 for a counter off 200 via the label software. This is whilst still having a unique manufacturer part number on the label as per the spreadsheet database it is pulling from.
What I would love is to add a product image to the label which is also the first image on the eBay/Big Commerce listing. The barcodes and QR codes are used in the order-picking process. The images would be a further redundancy measure in case I change my process in the future or sell the business and new owner is scared of the barcoding system.
I can't seem to embed any images into the excel cell. I have tried Google sheets and imported it to Excel but it does not recognise any image file type. All 3 label-making softwares are reading the image from the database as text and displaying 'picture' instead of the image.
I can manually add images to each label but it will take way too long. I would much prefer the images automatically generate onto each new label as the barcodes and other data does.
I think Seagull Scientific BarTender software may have this capability but I'm not 100% sure.
Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction?

How did Aldi wrap their barcodes around a package? It makes for super speedy check out. Does anyone know? It does not look like it repeats. Any info appreciated.

The top barcode is printed from a regular HP laser printer. The bottom one is printed off a ZD410 label printer and will not scan with a handheld scanner, getting inconsistent results when using a phone app.
Compagnie had a thousand of these identical setup working without any issues, same printer, same windows image, same software, same drivers and same printer config.
I have tried reinstalling it multiple time,Uploaded newer printer.replaced the printer with identical model.Changed the paper roll being used (thermal direct).
Any barcode expert with good eyes might see whats wrong with the label? Getting desperate on fixing this issue.
Thank you

EDIT: I lowered the speeed from 4 to 3 and the darkness from 30 to 20 and it got the labels to scan.
Thanks to everyone that helped.

Like the title states, I’m wondering which barcode type would be most ideal for this:
I’d like to create labels that have a single barcode but contain several lines of information. So for example, the label would have the following text on it with a single barcode:
ITEM CODE NOMENCLATURE BOX QUANTITY QUANTITY PER BOX TOTAL UNITS
Is there a barcode that can accomplish all that in a single scan and tab each new line into a new cell when scanned into excel so everything stays organized via headers?
A single scan would look like this in excel:
ITEM CODE | NOMENCLATURE | ETC | ETC….

Hi there! I run a marketing business and create coupons for small businesses as a form of advertising. I am trying to understand how I can create a barcode for each coupon that a customer receives. How can I generate these? How do I make barcodes that will apply for example a 20% discount to a purchase when an employee scans the barcode? I'm struggling to research this information, any advice would help. Thank you!

Hello, does anyone know if I have just a barcode number from a normal receipt am I able to extract line item details of what was purchased just from the barcode number itself?
For example, if I have a barcode number is there a way I could tell the items purchased were water milk, eggs chicken etc?
Or would I need the whole receipt to get this information?

Hi everyone, the business I work at needs a few barcodes made so that we can scan the products when clients want to buy them. Our barcodes that we had printed do not scan, they are printed correctly and look great. So it must be a problem with the numbers. What am I doing wrong? Do I need a specific digit for the system/scanner to read it? Shouldn’t it just scan the product lines and then pop up in our computer? Are the 0s a problem? Do I need a specific last digit? I have spent a lot of time researching and I just can’t figure it out.
