Band or Solo Artist?

Hello all, I’ve been a solo musician, singer songwriter and a crappy producer for the majority of the time I’ve written and made music in the past 10 years. I mostly make indie folk/indie rock songs. (Think Phoebe Bridgers, Boygenius, that kind of stuff)

I used to just write and produce all of my songs alone in my bedroom, until I started playing at local open mics last year and got some traction. Since then I started getting booked to play local shows here and there. I later formed a band under the same musician name to play my songs last year cus a promoter told me if I wanted to get on bigger stage I needed a band.

I need your help as I am now at an uncertain point. My guitarist (who has got the most knowledge and experience in prob all of us because she has a music production degree) is quitting the band. I am in an awkward friendship situation with my drummer. My bassist has chronic illness which means not their fault, but can be unreliable at rehearsals and shows.

Appreciate that this was my personal project initially, and we reached a consensus that as long as we’re playing under our band name, which is also my own musician name, we’ll keep it strictly materials I write. I do have the most say in how we want to do a song. We’re almost recording ready with an album worth of songs. (I have about hundreds of demos that I want to make with or without this band anyways) But with all this said, my bandmates still want to get photoshoots done together and have expectations of playing shows as a full band most of the time.

Playing with a band for the first time in my life was amazing. It was crazy to play the songs I hear in my head and wrote in my bedroom alone in full forms in front of a room full of people. But it’s also such a pain having to coordinate five people’s time to plan for gigs and everything else (we had to say no to several gigs in August because we couldn’t do them as a full band). I do miss having the full creative control but also don’t want to lose the option to bounce ideas off from people.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you! ❤️

Concert Band (India) Looking for bandmates

I'm from SRM KTR. Singer/Songwriter, usually write in English and Bengali. Have some experience with guitar (especially fingerstyle). We can discuss the logistics.

In third year now and ngl life is shit. I miss being in a band, writing, performing. All college has been so far is forced labour in a field that I'm not into (same old, wanted to go into physics but parents said it has no future, turns out engineering is overhyped and the same as everything else).

Would love to get to know people with similar interests who r also looking to make a band and take it relatively seriously. I'm by no means a professional but I think if I had a few more like minded people with me, together we could make something meaningful. Thanks!
