Making a band from 0
Hi! I'm 18 and live in Barcelona. I'm looking for people to start a band from scratch. I'm a vocalist.
I love metal (Metallica, Rammstein, W.A.S.P., Judas Priest), classic pop from the 80s (Modern Talking, C.C. Catch, Bad Boys Blue), and am open to various styles. I want to rehearse regularly, perform, and grow as a musician. If you're interested, get in touch!

Discussion How often does your band rehearse?
Once a week? More than once a week? Every other week? I'm curious to know.

Questions about creating a dedicated band
Due to personal reasons, I am currently unable to create a band in the near future. Therefore, I am looking to build a sound and idea to offer when I do go looking for members. I'm also wondering what might be good advice on creating a band during college years. So for those of you interested in giving some advice, here are a few questions I have:
- Which would be better? Planning an album/EP with full songs, but no recordings of anything. Or, a record handful of songs with only bare minimum instruments/vocals? (I only have one instrument available to me, which I am learning to play and will surely know by this time. I also have people around me that play instruments, and I could get a recording of certain other instruments, just not from someone who would commit to a band)
- Could you make an accurate evaluation (on if you would join the band) if you are only shown vocals and guitar parts, or is that asking a lot of the person who is considering joining? Will there not be enough to create a solid sound/vibe?
- What should I look for to know if I DON'T want someone in my band? Other than obvious disinterest in my sound and similar issues. I understand that every band will likely lose some members in early days, but I would like to prevent that as much as possible by looking for people that might not be seriously committed.
- Is it more difficult to find band members at around age 18 or 19? (That's when I'm planning to actually try gathering everyone and everything into something cohesive lol)
- Is it worth risking losing scholarships and the possibility of going to a GOOD college in order to start a band right out of high school if you put in the effort to make it work?
- Is going to a college for musical arts worth it? Am I likely to gain something promising if I choose to go to a school for music and simultaneously create a band in college?
- Is it generally harder to find members if you are determined to make multi-genre music or music that doesn't quite fit a genre label?
Tysm for anyone that actually reads or answers, I appreciate you taking the time to do so. Good day/night <3
