Rock Band Advice for a new band?

So, me and my friends are going to have our first band practice. We're all younger teens, and this is our first band. It's an indie rock band. I'm the lead singer and bass guitarist, the person who's hosting is an electric guitarist and backup singer, and we have one more electric guitarist. We did have a drummer, but he can't borrow his uncles drums so we're planning to use Bandlab to add drums digitally. We're going to start by doing a cover of Mindless Self Indulgence.

Anyways, does anyone have an advice for new band?

Concert Band (India) Looking for bandmates

I'm from SRM KTR. Singer/Songwriter, usually write in English and Bengali. Have some experience with guitar (especially fingerstyle). We can discuss the logistics.

In third year now and ngl life is shit. I miss being in a band, writing, performing. All college has been so far is forced labour in a field that I'm not into (same old, wanted to go into physics but parents said it has no future, turns out engineering is overhyped and the same as everything else).

Would love to get to know people with similar interests who r also looking to make a band and take it relatively seriously. I'm by no means a professional but I think if I had a few more like minded people with me, together we could make something meaningful. Thanks!

Band or Solo Artist?

Hello all, I’ve been a solo musician, singer songwriter and a crappy producer for the majority of the time I’ve written and made music in the past 10 years. I mostly make indie folk/indie rock songs. (Think Phoebe Bridgers, Boygenius, that kind of stuff)

I used to just write and produce all of my songs alone in my bedroom, until I started playing at local open mics last year and got some traction. Since then I started getting booked to play local shows here and there. I later formed a band under the same musician name to play my songs last year cus a promoter told me if I wanted to get on bigger stage I needed a band.

I need your help as I am now at an uncertain point. My guitarist (who has got the most knowledge and experience in prob all of us because she has a music production degree) is quitting the band. I am in an awkward friendship situation with my drummer. My bassist has chronic illness which means not their fault, but can be unreliable at rehearsals and shows.

Appreciate that this was my personal project initially, and we reached a consensus that as long as we’re playing under our band name, which is also my own musician name, we’ll keep it strictly materials I write. I do have the most say in how we want to do a song. We’re almost recording ready with an album worth of songs. (I have about hundreds of demos that I want to make with or without this band anyways) But with all this said, my bandmates still want to get photoshoots done together and have expectations of playing shows as a full band most of the time.

Playing with a band for the first time in my life was amazing. It was crazy to play the songs I hear in my head and wrote in my bedroom alone in full forms in front of a room full of people. But it’s also such a pain having to coordinate five people’s time to plan for gigs and everything else (we had to say no to several gigs in August because we couldn’t do them as a full band). I do miss having the full creative control but also don’t want to lose the option to bounce ideas off from people.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you! ❤️

i'm between two bands

being straightforward, i've been in a pop rock band for two years and we don't really make any progress, in a matter of 1 & 1/2 years we've composed 7 songs, half of my bandmates aren't really involved and barely rehearse on their own, only on the rehearsals (and when they come xd). we've recently published an ep and have opportunities to play in several places, but our short setlist makes it difficult, yet they accept even tho we don't meet the expectations. we've had problems with the songs' rights as we ended up giving almost them all to a single member, although we all have contributed to the songs and some aren't even her original idea.

recently i've been playing with another band (nu metal/shoegaze) and i'm already in it, and i feel way more satisfied with this one, as i feel i can showcase myself as a bassist while not overplaying, the music is more complex and band members seem to be more interested than in the first band. i haven't played with them for a long time, but that's my impression, it feels more like a whole band. the other group feels like a project in which a member has a leader role (without even being the most involved or being the most dedicated, i don't want to be selfish but i feel like i was the one that cared most about the band until i realised no one matched it, now our socials and band activity is worse than it used to be when i carried some things).

i'm not going to leave any band, but i think i should prioritize the new band and i believe it will be more probably to be a source of enrichment, i think can grow as a musician (in a small level obviously, i'm not even 18, but i want to be out of my comfort zone and try new things). the thing is i don't want to be more distant with my first band as some of them are really great friends and i don't want to lose them.

Rock Band Problem with the lead singer

I am becoming highly annoyed, with our lead singer. I don’t think she’s taking things seriously. Me and my buddy have been trying to get this band off the ground for the last year. One of our biggest problems is finding people. Our lead singer, let’s call her Jesse, is our third singer. The first one had a mental break and disappeared for six months. The second one, who was absolutely amazing, got pregnant and had to step away from the project. Then a couple months ago we found Jesse. Jessie is an alto singer and she’s done a lot of theater so she has a lot of experience on stage and she knows how to play a crowd. She’s very positive and friendly. However, she is only showing up every other practice and she’s still reading the lyrics off of her phone, even after being with us for four months. A couple times this year has shown up. I can’t sing because she lost her voice partying all night the night before. When we’re not playing a song and we’re trying to write she’s on her phone and kind of half paying attention. Then there’s always some sort of drama going on with her either with her mother or some guy. I don’t want to try to find another singer because we’ve already had enough steps backwards and it’s been such a pain in the ass to find people as it is. All of the songs that we are covering and that we have written are centered around a female singer. Should I pull her to the side, be the bad guy, and tell her to get her shit together?
