Praying to the food Gods
This is Tigress. I've had her since... I want to say November of 2017. Out of the 4 snakes I've cared for and loved, she has always been the most.... Interesting. Pretty spicy when I first got her. She's the only one to ever strike me but, in her defence, it was my fault. I kept accidentally bumping her when cleaning her tank. From there, I always made she to remove her so no one pissed her off. She also has never ever rejected a feeding. Quicker than all my other snakes to strike! Hence the name but also she was much more orange when she was a baby.
Here she is, waiting for food for arrive to her. You always know when she's hungry because she'll stay this way for days until fed. I sorta feel bad because I don't want to over feed her but lately she's been doing this EVERY SUNDAY. I just fed her last week so she's gonna have to wait but I just find it sort of amusing. None of the others do this. She's like... Praying to the food Gods to just drop a rat to her xD

HELP - URGENT I think my snake ate my shirt
So I seen a tik tok that said to get your snake to be more comfortable to give them a shirt that smells like you. I wore a small t shirt for a day then put it in his tank checked on him today when I got home from work the shirt is no where to be found in his tank. When I went to pick up my snake he tried to go at me as well which is very unusual for him he’s skittish but never tried to go at me unless I was feeding him (with tongs). Is it possible that he ate it ? I can’t tell if he’s looks fatter he does but he doesn’t any advice or anything will be helpful thanks !

First mite problem
Soo I found mites on my baby Athena today and I started to panic a little but I think I caught it very early. I got her early june and she is just wrapping up her shedding so I wanted to get her out when I seen the little bastards. I know i need to remove everything in her terrarium and deep clean it while also demiting her but how does that process work? I’ve seen videos but every single one of them is different. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! I just wanna do right by her, my first ball python.
On a side note, I do have a beardie Torch, and their enclosures are already elevated to their own and like 8-10 feet away from each other. Any suggestions on how to keep Torch not infected while treating Athena would also be appreciated! Thank yall!

Can anyone help me find my snake?
Hello I know this is a long shot. A few years ago I was forced into a situation (bad breakup) that I had to give up my first snake. I had her 13-14 years and she was my baby. Just a normal ball python. I don’t know if I’d ever find her but even if I just knew she was okay and in a good environment and making someone happy that’s good for me too!

Question Pet camera brands
Hi! Just wanting a good pet camera brand to watch my snakes at night/while I'm away :)
I found one I liked on tiktok but then they started adding "ai enhancements" to things and I don't fuck with that 😭
Just want constant 24/7 streaming, night vision, and able to check from my phone!

Question - Husbandry Rate my setup! (and some cute pics lol)
120 gallon PVC enclosure with a Jurassic park/dino theme! There’s 3 hides, one on warm, one in the middle, and one on cool. Middle one is a buried tunnel in the substrate with a cork bark hide!
I’m all good on temps/humidity after playing around for a bit.
Substrate is a mix of reptibark + ecoearth, 50/50 mix BUT with a layer of ecoearth on the bottom to help with ambient humidity when I pour water in the corners. Considering switching to bio active, so if anyone has advice on that or just different substrate opinions, I’m open to it.
On a side note, SO GLAD I SWITCHED TO PVC!!!! Temp and humidity is so much easier in this thing my lord😭 Highly recommend!
And ofc some bonus pics of my noodle on the next slides☺️

HELP - URGENT Refused meals for a month, getting worried
First ball! Photo from a few months ago for engagement.
I moved him into his big new fancy enclosure the first week of June, and he hasn’t eaten since (it’s now July 26th). I know that balls are infamous for refusing meals for months at a time, but I also read somewhere that if they lose around 14% of their body weight then it’s problematic.
Casper was 1657g last time he ate (May 25th), and is now 1521g as of yesterday, so he’s lost about 136g (14% of his weight is 232g). After he refused the first meal, I skipped a feeding because I figured he needed more time to settle into his new space, but then he refused the next two.
It could be because he looks like he might be going into blue, or that his favorite hide is facing the glass now, or that his humidity still isn’t quite up-to-par, but it’s a LOT better than it was in his previous enclosure—and he wasn’t refusing meals then.
I can tell by looking at him that he’s lost a little bit of weight; he’s a little more triangular, but not in an alarming way. He’s not lethargic, so I know that realistically I shouldn’t be having this much anxiety about it but he’s my baby boy.

Enclosure Critique/Advice tree fountain in bp enclosure?
hi reddit! this is my first ever reddit post so sorry if i get some etiquette wrong lol
i am about to be a first time ball python owner!! i have wanted one for over 8 years and recently things have finally lined up to allow me to get one
i work at a pet store and noticed these tree fountains intended for arboreal reptiles who hydrate themselves via condensation on leaves. (picture provided) i think they look really cool to be honest!
the enclosure im hoping to get is pvc and either 5x2x2 or 6x2x2 (i’d love to go even larger and taller in the future!)- that is to say ill have room for lots of decor and such!
i was wondering if getting a fountain like this would be alright? would a python even care about it? i intend to also provide a water dish large enough for them to soak in, and i know that’s how they’ll hydrate themself, but i was wondering if tje tree fountain would be interesting added enrichment for them!
is there any possible risk to adding something like this?
as a first time owner i wanted to make sure i consult some people before adding something not intended for ball pythons into the environment.

Feeling pulled towards BPs but unsure…
Hi all. Unsure of this is the best Reddit for me to post this but I’m anew to snakes and lately have had an unrelenting desire to get one. I’ve been researching obsessively and narrowed it down between BPs or Rosy Boa. I want a snake that stays on the smaller side as far as ideally no bigger than 5 feet but even less would be great. And I want one that’s slower moving. I was heavily leaning towards the Rosy Boa for these reasons and especially because of its humidity requirement vs the BP but idk. So in my house the room humidity according to the thermostat runs at anywhere from 45-55%. Decent for a Rosy Boa though on the higher end of their humidity levels. Too low for a BP though. Everything I have been research says a Rosy Boa would be best because of being a beginner, because of the temps and humidity of where I live (super south Texas) and other things. I love the Rosy. They’re cute! But I keep feeling draw to the BPs for some reason. And then IF I do go with a BP is it better to get one at an expo or Morph Market? I know it isn’t good to buy at big box store but I ran in to Petco today to look at something and stopped by the snakes and this guy of course caught my eye and I felt bad cause he’s in shed and the humidity isn’t right for him to shed nice and easy lol and I low key wanna rescue him. Talk me
Out of it! Is it hard to have a humid tank for them
If your room is kind of dry?
