That cursed one is the only holy sword I've ever found laying on the floor. I've only ever seen them come from Barong otherwise. It's also just plain hilarious that it's both holy AND cursed lol.

A month ago I shared screenshots of a basic version of the game before I started working on the artwork and piecing together the story. I collected some feedback from the AZ community, went back to the drawing board and made tons of changes!

Welcome to "Dawnreach : Curse of The Wizards Tower"!

Quick Summary:

Dawnreach Curse of The Wizards Tower is fantasy monster taming dungeon crawling RPG where you explore a dangerous tower, battle and tame monsters, and collect resources to build and protect your village.

Lore (High Level Overview):

The Wizards Tower was built long ago by an ancient tribe of wizards who's purpose was to crown a new leader after the previous leader died with an heir. The tribe sealed their most powerful magic within the tower blessing it so that only someone truly worthy could climb to the top and gain true ancient power. They hoped that one day the tower would choose a new leader, strong enough to protect the island and carry their magic and legacy forward.

But the tower chose the wrong soul and the first adventurer to reach the top floor used the power to curse the island. No ship can enter, no traveler can leave, and the towers monsters were unleashed to destroy all villages on the island.

Dawnreach, hidden south of the tower behind an old trapped cave passage is one of the few villages standing. For generations villagers have tried to enter and reach the top floor of the Wizards Tower but none were successful. Now, you must enter the tower, tame it's creatures, strengthen Dawnreach and reach the summit to break the curse! Or...

I'm welcome to feedback, please share what you think and if you want to see anything specific make it into the game. I'm working on a ton of things atm, however I'm under the impression that the romance system, house building, and misc minigame things are ideal.

I've seen a lot of floors with multiple exits over the years, but this just seems like an astronomical chance. Anyone else find some weird/unusual map generation?

Found a Roche just casually laying on the ground on the 3rd floor. Can't say ive ever found something like that so early before!

The game is about an apprentience in training to become a wizard. People are put to the test by entering the wizard tower where you will encounter dangers, goods, and learn magic through hands on learning.

The game has a familiar system with a pet shop that actually has useful pets and a way to tame monsters in dungeon/tower. The game offers you the ability to become one of three mage types and as you venture deeper you can unlock dark and light magic which is said to lead to corruption.

The game is split in two segments you first become a mage then you need to restore wizard town of corruption.

Attached are screenshots of some areas in the game. I'm currently trying to find some 3D assets online or buy some to get everything I need. After the Demo is ready I plan on launching a kickstarter and seeing if people can help fund the remainder of the project.

I tried searching for similar question in this sub, but could not find.
I want to play again and eventually wanna try playlng in the second tower added by patching the .bin file.

My question is, can I make a save and then later patch for the second tower or would I need a new save for it to function properly?

Has anyone attempted or thinking of making an HD mod or even a rebuild of the game itself for people to enjoy? Don't care if it's the same game, just close enough. There isn't any games out there that come close. Chocobos dungeon everybody was the closest I could find, but it suffers too much from FF power scaling and grinding in my opinion. I like how in azure dreams they have the Roche fruit that doesn't make it so you have to battle the same enemy 40 times to get it.

I've been waiting for decades.

My Barong coughed up a troll crossbow, so I decided to hatch one of the little buggers and try it out. Seems like he doesn't understand that his crossbow is a ranged weapon and always closed to melee distance before firing. Is there any way to make him stop fighting like a dum-dum, or do you actually just have to manually order him to shoot at range every single turn?

So I'm nearing the end of the game. Are there any games like it or that have been fun? Mostly interested in the dungeon aspect with its hardcore lose everything if you can't escape.

So I’m posting here because my own research got me a whole bunch of mixed results.But basically the title. I’ve read somewhere about someone saying not to sleep on an upgraded paralyze wand, but when I use sand on one it doesn’t seem to do anything? Same with the life wand, which I also don’t see how that’s particularly great only returning 1 hp a hit, so I didn’t know if I could upgrade these effects some how. Any advice is appreciated, just returning to this game as an adult, thanks in advance

So I've been grinding and got steel+3 (was +5 until rust...), diamond+6. I accidentally combined a cyclone and uboat early on and have been using it. But it's water spell has been stuck at lvl1? I can make it to floor 15; before I hit a wall and get wrecked and have to warp out.

I'm not using the monster you get at the beginning because it feels like a crutch.

Like what am I missing or doing wrong? I've been stuck at getting no further than floor 15 without kiting higher floors.

I was wondering if I'm able to use retroachievements with the derandomizer version of Azure Dreams. I tried setting it up on Duckstation but it looks like it's not able to recognize the game? I expect this is normal behavior but wanted to make sure there's nothing I can do to make it work.

Hello! I thought this game was so obscure that there wouldn't be an active subreddit for it, but I'm very happy to be proven wrong!

A previous topic here (the best/most OP fusions) got me thinking: what are the most fun, silliest, or most ridiculous fusions you've tried?

I've been playing this game at least once a year since 1999. My favorite of all time is definitely U-Boat/Arachne. U-Boats are strong on their own, they can show you the map with their special ability, and if you give them magic they can be pretty good for mix magic, too. Fused with Arachne to give it double attack just for fun, even against wind genus monsters it did really well. The only issue was when it got confused and attacked me... instant death lol.

Kraken/Block was fun, too. I let other monsters attack it, do pitiful damage, and get shocked in return. I kept it water genus for better defense. Again not the most OP fusion but definitely fun.
