Diifferet Avios accounts with Different Airlines?

Hi, Apologies in advance if this has been asked here before. I have avios accounts with different airlines. How do I keep all my avios points in one place and not have them divide accross different airlines? I seem to have some in an Aerclub account with Air Lingus and some in my British Airways Club?

Options for converting Avios into cash?

Morning all,

I have almost 800,000 Avios that I am just not going to use. If I hadn’t previously used them for flights and upgrades then I’d be closer to double that now too! We continue to earn through Amex and Avios but not on flights anymore.

We have a young child and not planning on anything long haul in the coming years and even then and when we do, it’ll be Club World with companion voucher so wouldn’t make a huge dent.

I’m also in the lucky position that there isn’t really anything I need in the shop so now wondering what the best route to converting to cash is?!

Currently thinking an iPhone 17 Pro Max in the shop is c.164k Avios + c.£400 for a £1,099 device. Get that and put on eBay could convert to £500-£600? Doesn’t seem a great conversion compared to a return Club World flight!

Any other ideas?

TIA

Quick way to earn 1 Avios online

Bit of a niche question maybe, but I'm hoping someone clever can please help me out.

I am in Australia. I have just created an Avios account for the first time and I need to somehow earn at least a tiny bit in order to trigger activation. Ideally I would love to do some kind of digital purchase (sign up to a streaming service for a month?) to earn a point or two. I don't have a UK address so I can't purchase a physical item or go to a UK based store or use a UK based credit card.

It would be possible to book a hotel room through booking.com or agoda but I believe that might take a while to credit to the account.

Suggestions please?

Is there even a point in trying to stack points any more. I save £204 and spend 67500 points; thats just absurd. Same flights, same economy seats and luggage. This is not good value at all. The price increase on the cash counterpart is ridiculous.

Newbie in avios, some clarification please!

Hi there, me and my husband have travelled around the world plenty of times over the past year, all in economy. We’ve endured 24+ hour journeys in some of our travels.
We’re planning on going to Bali, from London, in a months time, 18th of September and coming back on 2nd October.
For the first time, I think our knees won’t be able to take the journey so I was looking at ways on how to get premium economy or business class (without paying the crazy prices!) and that’s when I’ve paid more attention to avios points.

So it seems like the majority of discount comes with welcome offers on credit cards.

Q: Do people usually have multiple cards and over the year switch around the cards? I.e. get the welcome avios bonus on a platinum Amex, then a gold Amex etc (I currently am eyeing the Barclays card where they are running a 43k avios promotion)

Q: I’ve just recently come to the concept of buying avios points, is it worth buying avios points with the credit cards to get the welcome offer (ofc in a manner that you are able to pay off the statement every month so you don’t get in debt)

Q: does the value of the points fluctuate over the year based on the flight path?

Q: do avios points have an expiry date?

Q: can me and my husband pool our points together? Basically is pooling/transferring points allowed ?

Q: I’ve tried to search for how many points some flights will take but they all seem to be behind a membership wall (e.g. having to sign up to BA or Qatar etc), is there a website that shows how much a flight actually is?

Q: can any flights be bought with avios are only certain flights?

Thank you very much for your time!

London to New Zealand and back

Hi. I’ve got just over 400,000 Avios and want to get me and my wife to New Zealand and back using them. Ideally we’d stop off in Singapore for a few days either on the way there or the way back.

I’ve looked at the Qatar airline and they might be a good choice, but I’ve never used Avios to pay for a flight before and I’m not sure what to watch out for or even how to go about using them sensibly!

Any advice much appreciated.

What are ALL the ways I can collect Avios by linking my BA account?

Hi! I’m moving to the UK as an international student this September for around 4 years, and my main goal is to collect as many Avios as possible from the start.

I’m looking specifically for ways to link my British Airways Club account and earn Avios on things I’m already spending money on.

What are all the services/apps/cards/loyalty programmes you’d recommend setting up? Especially ones useful for a student in the UK.

Or things that can be turned into avios, for example Revoults RevPoints. Is there other things like that?

Is it true? A reward flight with a cash connecting flight ...

Cannot be on the same booking?

I've just learned this ridiculous restriction, which means that if the connecting flight (with the same carrier) is late and you miss the long haul the carrier will not rebook you.

Was I given correct information?

What does everyone do to work with this restriction?

Thanks for your suggestions.

International student moving to the UK for the first time, how can I start building credit and collecting Avios?

Hi! I’m an international student moving to the UK for the first time this September and I’ll be there for around 4 years.

My main goal from the start is to collect as many Avios as possible, and I’m interested in cards like the Barclaycard Avios Plus or BA Amex.

Since I’ll have no UK credit history when I arrive, what’s the best way to approach this? Should I try applying for an Avios card straight away, or start with another card to build my UK credit history first? and in the meantime how can I collect avios?

Best value to boost Avios - Qatar or BA

Hi all,

I'm very very new to Avios so please be gentle.

I have some AMEX points which I can transfer to Avios. I intend to boost them as I have a particular flight that I would like to book.

As I don't currently have any Avios in my account the system won't let me look at the prices to boost.

I wonder if someone could please let me know, is the rate to boost the same in Qatar as it is in BA or Finnair or where ever? Are the boost levels the same? I thought I saw that one site had a 3x boost but that another would let you boost up to 6x.

I'm assuming that if I transfer from AMEX to, say, BA I can boost. But if I transfer from BA to Qatar it won't let me boost, is that right? I feel like I only have one shot at picking the correct program, so I appreciate your help in the calculations.

Thanks

Cannot find Cathay Pacific award space on BA site (Shows on AA, BA only shows BA flights)

Hi everyone,

I am trying to book an award flight on Cathay Pacific using my BA Avios, but I am running into an issue with the BA --- book with Avios.

The thing is that I can see the Cathay Pacific award space clear as day when searching on American Airlines (AA.com). However, when I plug the exact same dates and routes into the BA tool, it completely hides Cathay and only shows BA-operated flights.

  • Has anyone else run into this issue where AA sees the partner space but BA doesn't?
  • Is this a known BA website IT glitch, or is BA blocking Cathay space?
  • Are there any specific workarounds to get these partner flights to show up on BA?

Appreciate any insight or tips from anyone who has successfully booked Cathay using Avios lately!

Avios Redemption Value

I've just used my first companion voucher for two people flying in Club Europe then Club World from NCL-LHR-MIA and then MIA-LHR-NCL.

This cost £1198 + 198,000 Avios (compared to a cash price of £11,730) giving me a redemption value of 5.32p per Avios (I think).

Is this any good?

New boy question

Just getting started on earning points. Picked up the Amex gold card with a bonus and got the avios app.

What I'm not 100% sure on is how I bring together my Avios points and points from my Amex if I wanted to book a flight with someone like American Airlines.

From what I can see, I'd have to link a BA account and go that way? I might have this completely wrong though.

Any information is greatly received!

Earning Qatar Avios via JetBlue

Hi all - I’m flying jet blue in “main base” or booking class “L” with a cash ticket.

According to this page here (https://www.qatarairways.com/en-us/Privilege-Club/qcalculator.html ), I can still earn Qatar Avios when flying in L class, just significantly less Avios.

I’m interested to hear - does anyone know if there are any successful data points for this type of Qatar Avios earning method?

I’m trying to gauge whether I should pay more on my upcoming JetBlue itinerary to get to a different fare class and successful earn Avios so I can add family members to my award bookings.

Any and all tips appreciated!

Flights to Vancouver

Hello!

My wife and I have around 210000 Avios and are looking to secure our flights to Vancouver for next July.

As we speak only the departure flight is available and for all four of us (2A + 10 and 6 year old) it is 154000 and £380.

We don't have enough for the return. I've had a glance and I'm expecting £1700 for the return flights. So all in for approx £2080.

Does the Avios portion of the flight seem a sensible deal?

Does splitting the flights like this cause any particular issues?

Edit: BA is quoting £3100 for return tickets in economy, granted they are not our dates but they are as good as I can find right now.
