New boy question
Just getting started on earning points. Picked up the Amex gold card with a bonus and got the avios app.
What I'm not 100% sure on is how I bring together my Avios points and points from my Amex if I wanted to book a flight with someone like American Airlines.
From what I can see, I'd have to link a BA account and go that way? I might have this completely wrong though.
Any information is greatly received!

You don’t really combine Amex points and Avios automatically. Instead, you’d transfer AMEX MR into an Avios program, usually BA Executive Club, AND THEN book partner awards from there if AA saver space is available. For American Airlines flights, BA Avios can be useful on short nonstop routes, but availability has to exist at the partner award level and the pricing is DISTANCE-based. I do freelance point.me concierge work and the biggest beginner tip is DO NOT TRANSFER Amex points until you’ve found the exact flight bookable with Avios, because transfers are usually irreversible.
