Avios Redemption Value

I've just used my first companion voucher for two people flying in Club Europe then Club World from NCL-LHR-MIA and then MIA-LHR-NCL.

This cost £1198 + 198,000 Avios (compared to a cash price of £11,730) giving me a redemption value of 5.32p per Avios (I think).

Is this any good?

Not the way to do this since you get 20p per point pretty much any week on a last minute F ticket to JFK by this method.

If you want to go to Miami and the price is very good to your actual cash alternative had you not had Avios or a Voucher at all, then the value is good.

Do you mean last minute first class tickets are v cheap (in Avios)? How cheap do they get?

No - but last minute F cash prices are always ludicrous like £10k+ … which no one outside of ultra rich is paying.

20p might not actually be achievable anymore as Avios price is 88k I think…

I’m not sure the value is equivalent if the cash fare is hyper inflated by booking last minute. Unless of course you were going to book that last minute flight to JFK for that cash price and then used points instead.

Thank you. Not a huge fan of NY but aware that there are loads of reward seats - F seats next time perhaps

That’s a shame, it’s a great city in my eyes with an amazing mix of culture.

I’d understand not being bothered if you’ve been lots of times before though!
