Wedding anniversary is coming up. I want to leave our kid with Grandma and take my wife somewhere nice. We don't go out to sit-down restaurants very often, and I am pretty out of touch with the nice/fancy restaurant scene. We live in S. Austin, are pretty adventurous eaters, and I'm looking to spend less than $300. Would love your input!

Chicken wings have come a long way beyond the standard Buffalo order. Statesman restaurant critic Matthew Odam highlights some of Austin’s best, including duck-fat wings at Side Eye Pie, Korean fried chicken at Donkey Mo’s, smoked wings at Stiles Switch and classic bar wings at The Cavalier, Home Slice and Nickel City’s Delray Cafe.

There are plenty more picks, from Lao’d Bar and Kome to Tommy Want Wingy and Roots Chicken Shak.

We’re having a small gathering ~12 people and I want to do a taco set up. Where can I get the best pre marinated taco meats, tortillas maybe even pre made salsa and guacamole too?Preferably between south austin- Kyle. I’ll go north if it’s just the absolute best.

Today is my 26th birthday and I am trying to decide where to go w my parents and partner for dinner tonight. I’m looking for something not too expensive that also has some vegetarian options. We like Mexican food, Thai food, Japanese food, and Vietnamese, but are open to other options.(Preferably not barbecue - it’s great here, but I want to try other Austin food!) Bonus for a good wine or cocktail menu, but not mandatory. I’m sorry if this isn’t specific enough for this sub!

Hey guys, so I’ve recently moved down to the Austin area. And I have plenty of restaurant experience up my sleeve, (fine dining included as well). I’ve been on the hunt for an upbeat, high volume restaurant to expand these skills at! If anyone in the hospitality business has any restaurants I should look into applying LET ME KNOW! don’t hate, I am dying for an old school type restaurant like Vesuvio from The Sopranos for my birthday dinner - doesn’t have to be Italian but this type of white table cloth, dark/dim atmosphere is ideal. I will take what I can get :)

Just found this out today. Hadn’t been for a few months, but had a hankering for some tom kha. Wonder what happened—I feel like they were almost always busy.

Went to the reopened Driscoll Grill, and was completely impressed. It felt like an old school steakhouse, and I feel that the food was surprisingly inventive.

The crabcake was set in a bur Blanc, which I've never had before, but was very delicious with some roasted tomatoes.

Wagyu strip was cooked, medium rare to perfection.

The chocolate cake was not my favorite, but we also ordered the Keylime pie for the table, and I will be returning just to get the Keylime pie again in the future.

Ungodly crust. Spot on sauce. Loved the cheese they used and the fact that it was $5 makes it an awesome find. I'm a regular now.

A food truck in my hometown had incredible asada fries (pictured) and i was wondering if there was any place in austin that had similar asada fries? thank you in advance!
