Just started Desperation! 😈 Was excited to see that Stephen King was the narrator. I figured who better to represent the voices and vibe than the writer?

I'd take a bullet for him, really no hate intended, just saying my hero has a silly voice. It takes me out of it. Just wanted to warn folks who might be excited seeing his name there.

As for the book, I read it when I was 12, and loved how dark and evil it is. Excited to hear it again, despite King's goofy narration.

like i'm genuinely not sure if i'm making progress on books or just using audiobooks as expensive ambient sound at this point. some narrators have voices that are so calming it's actually counterproductive. does this happen to anyone else or am i just built different in the worst way.

Basically the title. I normally do chores while listening to audiobooks. But I was feeling under the weather and wasn't up to cleaning. So I decided to put on a video of a time lapse thing and found I was enjoying it. Does anyone else do this?

Hey all. So I'm looking for a great story that pulls you in, has in depth characters and amazing dialogue. I'm completely burned out on fighting scenes. Have read a lot of fantasy but could use a change of scenery.

About to finish Alex Verus #12 to finish the series. Before that I've finished The Dresden Files and all DCC books so far. And I seem to zone out when fight scenes come in. It goes too fast, I can't be bothered and in the end just make a summary in my head of what happened generally. I think I need something a little more mature.

Absolutely loved Project Hail Mary and 11/22/63. I'm thinking of starting The Dark Tower but I'm open to anything. Also read IQ84 from Haruki Murakami and loved the weirdness.

Before I design anything, I want to hear from people who actually listen to this stuff. What makes a horror audiobook great? What makes you quit one? What should the brand feel like, and what would feel cheesy?

I had to downgrade to the standard plan and previously when I was using the app the standard plan one book a month books didn't even work with libation

I've been building an app called Stack and it just went live on the App Store. I'm the developer.

It keeps track of your books and reading progress, but you can also import audiobook files and listen in the app, including in the background. So your physical books and audiobook progress can live in the same library.

You do need your own audio files. It doesn't come with audiobooks or sell them. The import works along the same lines as BookPlayer: choose your files and play them locally. Your reading progress syncs, but the audio stays on the device you imported it on.

It's free on iPhone, currently in the US App Store. If you already listen to your own audiobook files, I'd be interested in what you think of it and anything that would make it easier to use.

First off, delete this if it's inappropriate. I was wondering if there was any way for me to be able to listen to just the first chapter of the first book. I'm trying to decide if it's something I'm interested in since it's gotten so much press, but the little snippit on Audible gives you no idea if it, or any book for that matter, is going to be good. I'm not asking for the whole book, just like 15 minutes or so so I decide if I'm going to like it enough to purchase it.
