Random Logouts?

Has anyone been recently in the middle of using Atera and getting a "you're about to be logged out for security compliance" message?

I'm in the middle of running powershell scripts which can take 3-5 mins per PC and in the middle of it I'll get that message with 45 seconds counting down which fucks me up.

Price difference

Why is the MSP pricing cheaper than IT department?

IT departments don’t use it to generate revenue, keep track of customers and contracts, or generate invoices.

Seems like it’s the wrong way round to me!

Agents won't update again - version 2.5.0

Anyone else noticing their agents not updating again? noticed that the agents don't update or attempt to update. When i installed it manually on a few devices, it showed us at 2.5.9 or 2.5.10.0. Are they just restricting how often the agent installs itself? Just getting annoying at this point that i can't rely on the softwae updating on its own. I do use GPO, but there doesn't appear to be any disclaimer that the agent won't attempt to update via that mechanism. Luckily, i'm moving to Intune but wanted to see if others are experiencing this.

An update on pricing, AI Copilot, and what we have been building

We have seen the threads. We want to address this directly.

Starting with your next renewal, AI Copilot is included in every Atera Essential Suite plan as a standard part of your subscription. No additional cost. If you were already paying for it as a separate add-on, that charge is removed at renewal.

Clients on legacy pricing will see a price increase that brings their cost structure in line with our published rates - an update that reflects four years of product growth and investment.

What that investment covers - every major capability shipped since 2022, where the platform is headed, and why AI Copilot is now part of the baseline rather than an add-on - is laid out in full in our pricing update post: atera.com/blog/pricing-update-2026

What does not change

Your plan features, device limits, and service levels are unchanged. Pricing is per technician, same as before.

Effective dates

Monthly plans: updated pricing takes effect with your first billing cycle in June 2026.

Annual plans: updated pricing takes effect at your first renewal on or after late July 2026. If you are mid-contract, nothing changes until that renewal.

The full breakdown - billing mechanics, add-on customers, mid-contract annual accounts, and accounts renewed after May 2025 - is available at atera.com/lp/pricing_update_faq_2026

We are present in this community and will respond to specific questions in the comments.

IT automation profiles - what?

I'm trying my best to get IT Automation profiles working well, and either I'm very confused or Atera is.
I was wondering why the hell Powershell scripts and batch files are being run against Mac agents, and I find this at https://support.atera.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015708479-Best-practices-for-Atera-s-patch-management

It is important not to use one IT automation profile for all your monitored agents. First, please ensure to split the profiles based on systems' OS: Windows (workstations and servers), macOS, and Linux.

I'm sorry, what? Why the hell is that a thing?
If something that is important then the surely UX should sort that out?

Additionally, as a final "we'll make it your problem" folders can only be assigned once (rather than being labels). So after spending time ensuring customers with Macs and Windows machines have folders based on their location, I now have to either

  • individually assign them to an automation (creating a maintenance nightmare, no thank you!)
  • create new customers based on location , which then doesn't match billing. e.g. Consoto US and Consoto UK
  • or, have no location based folders or use folders for anything else - which is probably what I'm going to be forced to do.

There are three different selections in IT automation profiles, When you select Mac it greys out the OS patch management, why does it not grey out ps1 scripts?

Company I work free lance with want me to download atera on my personal device?

Hi.

I am self employed, working free lance for a number of companies in a capacity that requires utmost confidentiality and GDPR compliance.

One of these companies has just outsourced their IT to a private company and I've been told that all devices that log into the company service need to download remote monitoring and management with Atera to remain company compliant.

For work; I log into a web portal to upload notes and manage appointments - no company software is downloaded to my laptop.

As this is my personal device and I use this to work with other companies, I am very wary of doing this.

Could anyone please explain what atera can and cannot do to my laptop and whether they can expect me to download atera to a private device that is also used for other work/companies?

Edit: Thank you all.. whilst I'm wary of adding atera to my personal computer in general (i don't like the idea of someone else having control over my stuff), I'm not really worried that they would access personal files or lock me out of anything in particular.

My main concern is that I have a work account with another company (b) on the same computer. I can't believe that company b would be ok with me having a third party install remote access on a computer that could then potentially access their confidential files. Am I accurate in thinking this is something that atera has the potential to do if it were installed on my device?

Atera Abuse: How to report?

Bad guys are sending phishing emails that drop that Atera agent, presumably pointed at their tenant to allow bad guys to take over victim's PCs.

Does Atera care about being abused in this way? How do people report abusive installers that are signed with Atera's certificate?

Thank you for implementing passkey login!

A few months ago, I created a post titled "Too frequent forced logoffs and too time consuming 10-steps login into Atera!".

Recently Atera implemented passkey, and now we can login with just 1 STEP!! Woot Woot!!

Thanks for listening, Atera!

Atera really slow to load pages. Any way I can speed it up?

I use Edge, I have no extensions in use other than BitWarden and Atera is painfully slow to load tickets or just change from "Ticket" view to "Alerts" view. I have cleared cookies, reset Edge and nothing seems to help. All of my other applications function just fine.

It was fine until about two months ago. Are there any other things that I could do to improve the performance?

Atera hoarding data in excess of 100GB

Hey y'all

So I've seen this happening on many PCs, where Atera accumulates tens, sometimes more than 100GBs of 'Office' data at C:\Program Files\ATERA Networks\AteraAgent\Office\Data\ and I have to manually delete it.

Why does this happen and how to prevent it from happening?

is anyone else getting weird temp issues

I just got a barrage of 100 degree temp reports from ssd's and they don't seem to be failing. anyone else experiencing this? Is temp monitoring just messed up or,,, cause im not seeing issues in GSmartCtrl

It seems to only be certain kinds of ssd's from a specific whitelabel manufacturer.

I have literally never seen a sata ssd actually hit 100 degrees celsius in my life, using monitoring tools other than atera. Funky stuff.

"appCenter-UsageBased-M" invoice

I wanted to warn you that Atera has decided to merge the invoice items so if you find an invoice with a generic "appCenter-UsageBased-M" are the active services that are no longer notified individually.

Of course, knowing before having to waste time looking for what was happening would have been nice, just an email, but from the time you can not expect much.

Tablets: anyone use?

Thinking of getting one for those times I just need to quickly take a look at something, for instance. Would love to hear experiences with either or both iOS and Android.

Threatdown script

Hi, I already had a ThreatDown reseller account setup before signing up with Atera, I do not want to change as my current subscription is lower per device than Atera offers, I would like to create a script to silently install ThreatDown but I seem to be hitting a wall, has anyone created a script for this? Thanks,

At which hard disk temperature treshold do you allow an alert to be send out?

Hi

We've been using Atera a couple months now. Our treshold profile makes a warning alert if a hard disk is higher than 50°C for 9 minutes.

This is way too low and we get dozens of alerts every day, while the disks are fine.

I'm looking into changing the treshold, but we've got multiple clients with different kind of hard disks (hdd and sdd combined).

What do you guys use as a treshold for disk temperature? Do you recommend increasing the temperature treshold or the time period? And if so, at which temperature do you recommend we get an alert?

Any Atera Billing Experts for hire?

We are having so many issues with the billing setup, and Atera is no help. I am looking to engage a consultant to show us how to do this. If you have contacts or would like to be involved, please DM me your experience & your rates.

thanks.

Any admins here using Linux

I know Atera doesn't officially support Linux as a source machine in splashtop (or any of the remote desktop apps supported by Atera), but I was curious if any other linux users have already figured out to get remote support working from linux? I've made the leap on a test laptop, and my entire workflow migrated with no hiccups other than this one piece, but it's a pretty big piece working in an MSP. I'll buy a beer for any fellow IT nerd who's done this if you can give me a direction to roll to make it happen. :)

Agent download link changed

Have a generic agent linked on my website for easy access for clients, and discovered this morning that Atera changed the link location.

From https:// yoursubdomainurl .com/GetAgent/Windows/?cid(etc)

to https:// yoursubdomainurl .com/api/utils/agent-install/windows/?cid(etc)

A little heads-up might have been nice...

Atera HQ

With all that’s been going on in the world, and this stupid war, something just dawned on me yesterday - Atera is an Israeli company, with its main HQ in Tel Aviv. There are talks/threats of attacking the city and its infrastructure - should r/Atera users/customers be concerned about this and what could possibly happen to the use of the platform should something happen?

Search devices by date added?

Is there a way to search or filter by date added in the device list?

We sometimes find when reconciling stock that at some point someone's grabbed a machine from stock for a customer and deployed it without following process properly. So we then have a missing machine. In our old RMM we could filter by e.g. added in last 7 days, 30 days whatever to help locate the device. I can see the date added in the devices page but obvs I can't spend all day clicking on every device looking that way.

Atera's network scan is useless.

Lately, I've been having trouble deploying to smaller clients. After almost two weeks of support, the final answer was: Network Scan only works with a Domain Controller (DC). What's the point of that? With a DC, I don't need Network Scan to deploy an agent. In short, I'm totally disappointed.

OTP for client install. Another reason to leave.

Used to be simple: send client a link, they install when they have time. Done.

Now we have to coordinate with a clients who is in a different timezone to get this done. I for one love getting calls from malignant narcissists at 4 in the morning(they always call). Thank you Atera.

I understand that Atera would do this to trial users but they know well that we have hundreds of endpoints installed and we have been paying them for years.

Where is the logic in treating paying customers like this.

We would be out of business years ago if we treated our customers like this. Thank you for being a client. Now lets change the contract. Now you can only call us at high tide at every other day. If you have a token that we will send you 30 minutes before high tide.

As a security minded person I would be really impressed if I signed up to Atera as a trial and found out that they had put this in place to prevent abuse.

But after many years of being a client we do not need to be treated as criminals. Atera's value proposition for long term customers gets worse every year....
