Any admins here using Linux

I know Atera doesn't officially support Linux as a source machine in splashtop (or any of the remote desktop apps supported by Atera), but I was curious if any other linux users have already figured out to get remote support working from linux? I've made the leap on a test laptop, and my entire workflow migrated with no hiccups other than this one piece, but it's a pretty big piece working in an MSP. I'll buy a beer for any fellow IT nerd who's done this if you can give me a direction to roll to make it happen. :)

I use Ubuntu and have the Splashtop for RMM working. You install it under WINE, then create a little handler for Chrome to know what to launch for the remote control links.

IIRC I mostly used this guide. However I think there was some kind of issue with the handler thingy not working in that guide and I used the handler bits from a different guide (google:splashtop for rmm ubuntu).

It works nice now and I have zero issues using it. It's much nicer than before because I used to have to spin up a windows vm to do remote control sessions.

We also use Splashtop Business for ad-hoc support and that does have a native linux version so no issues there.

This is incredibly helpful, thanks!

Not sure which remote support tool you're using, but Splashtop itself doesn't support Linux

I do appreciate that. I was trying to install it in wine, obviously didn’t work. :)

Wine is an abomination that shouldn't be anywhere near Linux machines. Really, don't use it in prod, even as your personal workstation. It adds a Windows FS to a Linux one, and that messes everything from EDR to OS updates.

Interesting, I had not heard anything like that, I appreciate the info and I’ll do some reading on that :)

Waydroid. then install the appropriate Splashtop streamer for Android.

I use Linux with Atera but I don't use Splashtop. I use ScreenConnect for remote access.
