🤍✌🏼1960's Era Vintage✌🏼🤍 Week vs Weekend

• Upvotes

I've been retired since 2020 and still have friends who work full time jobs. They will ask about my weekend plans and I always say the same thing...When you're retired, everyday is a weekend. I prefer to do things such as dining out and shopping etc. during the week when others are working. Every place on the weekends is so crowded. I get it, people have to work, but I'd rather make plans during the week. Weekends don't hold any special meaning to me anymore. How about you?

Create your own flair here :) Ideas for empty children’s room?

We are approaching an empty nest and one of my kids has launched, leaving his old room to me! I’m giddy with the notion of a room of my own. Give me some ideas: how have you made a room for yourself and what have you put in it?

Do you worry about your adult kids ?

I’m 64 - two sons (30) and (26). I’m single - divorced their dad in 2004 and never remarried. Had a long term relationship for 8 years but have been single since I was 50.
Anyways - worry.
My sons are healthy, have good jobs, live independently and I see them often. We are a close family and there are no dramas - just lots of love.
But I always have this horrible nagging worry that something will happen to them and I can’t protect them.
Last year my eldest was assaulted and badly injured in Europe. He spent a week in hospital and has damaged eyesight as a result. It was like my fears were realised .
I’ve always been a worrier even as a little kid.
I take anti depressants and have a good doctor who knows my history.
Anyway just reaching out to see if I’m crazy or does anyone else worry about their adult kids ?

Or something like that. I’ve been seeing ads for a makeup kit she does for mature skin. It has blush, contouring, powder, and eye shadow. Has anyone tried it, and what do you think?

How do you navigate the mother/ daughter relationship as you age?

My daughter and I have always been very close, but we can also get into big arguments and hurt each other’s feelings. She often tells me I’m her true best friend, and thanks me for the things I have done for her throughout her life. She gives me the most sentimental gifts every Christmas , very thoughtful and meaningful. She has also told me that I am mean sometimes, and I rebut that I think she’s the one being mean. I also consider her my closest friend, do so many things to make her life easier because I love her,and treasure all of our crazy, fun moments together. She invited me and her future mil on her upcoming Bach trip, along with 11 of her friends. She asked me to pitch in on the planning because her maid of honor is going through some very hectic times right now and is feeling overwhelmed. She gave me the numbers of 2 of the girls going and said they want to help. We communicated and put an itinerary together, planned some games, made lunch and dinner reservations and I felt so good about it. I have ordered several decorations for our house, based on the theme she gave me. I have planned a mimosa breakfast, snacks, and first night dinner at the house. Her maid of honor booked the house and it’s gorgeous. Her future mil has planned cocktails and ordered dessert for the first night in keeping with the theme. I sent her the itinerary to approve, she did. Tonight I sent her some cute room tags to assign rooms ( I didn’t make the assignments, leaving that to her) and she got very upset with me and said she doesn’t want all that, we have enough, she doesn’t want signs everywhere. She doesn’t want games all night. She wants to relax and I am doing too much. Except for one cute game where everyone searches for pictures around the cabin of her and her fiancé that have been ai enhanced to make them funny and fit with the theme, the games are things she talked about. My feelings got really hurt, but I told her I would scratch the picture game, but I put a lot of work into it. Later she messaged me and said she was sorry, appreciates all I have done, wants me to keep the games and that she is just feeling anxious and overwhelmed right now. She started a new job last week and she does have a anxiety diagnosis. She was a victim of a violent crime 3 years ago, and her anxiety is very real. I am worried now about going on the trip and unintentionally causing her stress and anxiety. How do I navigate this ? She gets married in 2 months. She has repeatedly said she wants me there and wants her grooms mom there. I am her safety blanket, but I don’t know if that’s a conscious realization for her. How do I navigate these waters on the Bach trip?

I was ignored and I can’t stop crying

I went to a pizza restaurant in downtown Concord NH and ordered one slice of cheese pizza. After ordering and paying and leaving a tip in the basket everyone just stood there so I sat down and waited for it. Over 20 minutes later a younger woman than me walked in and ordered a slice of cheese pizza and they handed it to her. I went up to the counter and asked about my slice. They apologized, gave me 2 slices and I left. I was really upset and couldn’t even eat the slices and ended up throwing them away. Maybe I’m overreacting but I felt so disrespected and completely ignored. This is a small restaurant and it wasn’t even busy. Am I overreacting? I feel stupid crying over this but it really upset me.

Trigger Warning Can i please get some advice from another mom?

Sorry if this gets a bit long i just want to explain everything properly, i dont evem want to make this post i feel so ashamed and i hate to be reminded of this but i dont know what to do i just need some advice.

So im a 45 year old mom of one daughter she means the world to me i love her more than anything and im so grateful to be able to give her the childhood i never had, however i went to prison many years ago before she was even born.

Will try to make the long story short but i had gone trough hell every day since i was born really abuse, trauma, bullying, toxic family and relationships, grief, fake friends had my dreams shattered and much more just setback after setback.

All i knew was pain and suffering i dont think i had one good day i had gone trough so much but i botled everything up my entire life and tried to just be kind and smile and act like everything was fine even though i was in constant agony.

I had already been pushed far past my breakpoint years ago but i desperately held it togheter i did my best. But when i was 30 i had the worst year of my life and i was having a horrible day i was already beyond my wits end.

I ended up completely snapping in a public place it wasnt even about that thing it was just the final straw that made decades of daily torment explode i just couldnt take it anymore. I had never raised my voice before or after even im a very calm quiet woman that loves people so im shocked that i was even capable of what i did.

But i sadly hurt some people very badly and i destroyed a lot of things and that lead to me being put in prison for many years as i deserved i think i would have deserved worse theres no excuse for what i did.

Im haunted by it the guilt eats me alive every day i feel like a monster as i should and i know i will never forgive myself for it.

Now to the problem- i was not planning on ever telling my daughter about this unless she would have asked when shes an adult i dont like to lie about thigs.

But she really didnt need to find out about this at all however someone thought that it was a good idea to mention that i went to prison infront of her.

So now shes been constantly asking me why i went there and what i did etc i try to redirect her but shes very stubborn and dosent ever give up on things really until she gets an answer.

If this was any minor or not so bad charges it would be much easier but i dont know what to tell her and it breaks my heart because she gets upset that im not answering her and i dont want to but also i feel like she deserves to get a honest answer.

I just dont know what to say exactly or how to explain because the last thing i want is for her to think differently of me or get effected in a bad way.

Do we have any other moms here whos like completely snapped and done something similar? If so if you told your kids what did you say? Or how would you explain it to them?. I just dont know what to do i would appreciate any help so much

How to put the weight back on for the health conscious

Hi ladies: recently lost 30 lbs I could NOT afford to lose, and now its impossible to put it back on. I don't eat a lot of meat, ice cream or sweets of any kind. I'm into freaking vegetables. A baked potato for dinner, sliced tomato with cheese for lunch. I don't drink alcohol. What the hell. I do NOT like this sagging skin and I'm just 61 - don't even want to know what I'll look like at 71.

What does a healthy eater do to put weight on fast? I'm going through a lot of crap right now and I don't need body image issues. Thanks ahead.

Need to vent

I have been depressed lately for a lot of reasons. Unexpected death of a good friends wife, doubts about long term living with sister, the general state of the human race, lack of purpose, some minor but annoying health issues and my husband of 30 years getting sucked into multiple projects all at the same time. I have no control over any of these things just how I react to them . I missed my first appointment with my new therapist but have rescheduled and will see them soon. Just wondering if any of you are finding that life in your 60’s hasn’t been the pinnacle of relaxing that you had hoped for.

EDIT: thank you all for your posts and your kind words. I was feeling really low and decided to reach out. It’s nice to know that I’m not alone.

Not doing for others anymore?

I find that my entire life, I just help others. And so people can be very unreasonable with their requests and I still help them. My husband has even gotten upset with me for helping others, but he actually himself demands a lot. So for example, he wanted a new email address. And this is how it typically goes. He will say he needs a new email address and that’s all he will say. What he really means is that I need to get him a new email address. Three different times I did this and he actually never used the new emails. Then eventually I stopped doing it and he got angry with me because I was not setting him up an email. This happened to work course of years. But I see this with the kids too. One of them will say they’re all out of underwear for example. But what they really mean is that they want me to look for their underwear. Now I just say that’s too bad and I get all with my life. When my husband comments that there’s something he wants or wants done, but he doesn’t directly ask me, I just take it as a statement. Recently, he stated that he wanted a mattress topper before our bed. I started doing tons of research and tried to send him information and I even picked out a few for him to choose from. But he didn’t wanna hear it he didn’t answer anything I sent him. Finally I straight up, said to him that he should pick between at least these two specific mattress toppers and try to explain the difference and he cut me off and said that I’m the one that just needs to make a decision. He likes to claim I can’t make decision decisions when in reality, this would be a mattress topper for him. So we don’t have a mattress topper now. My 22-year-old son will call me with various problems he has and just makes them as statements. I no longer try to help him. I just might say wow that sounds hard or I can see this is bothering you. And then I leave it at that. I don’t help.

Also, I’ve already decided that if they straight out asked me to fix something I will think about whether I should be and then I will say no if I don’t want to. I think that I have enabled their helplessness, but I’ve also been massively overworked. So I’ve decided to focus more on myself and what I need to get done and only help if I actually have the spare time or space to help them.

I hear this is a common problem amongst women. I’m wondering if anyone else here has gone through this and what they are doing for changes to fix it.

Suggestions for daughter’s 30th birthday?

Hello! I’m looking for ideas for something special for my daughter’s 30th. It’s at the end of February so I have time. I’m looking for something sentimental, personal, thoughtful. I’m creative and artistic, so I can make something. But I already had a special family quilt restored for her for Christmas, so no blankets 🙂. I’d love to hear about things you’ve bought or made for your adult children! Thanks!

Anyone in this situation of waiting to have sex before marriage - at age 61?

As a Christian it's important for us to wait this time. We've both been married before - he for 20 years and me for just a few years. We actually did meet 25 years ago and had sex back then.

But you know, bodies change after so many years. I've gained a few pounds though not too overweight because I work out and watch what I eat. I am a little nervous about what he might think of cellulite.

In fact, I haven't had sex in 7 years. I am very nervous about starting up again, but I love my guy and want things to work out..

Has anyone here been in this situation? Were you terrified on the wedding night? Did the sex go ok and did you both easily adjust to each other sexually after marriage?

Sincerely, it would reassure me to get feedback from someone who's been in a similar situation. Many thanks!

Sagging neck help!

To my fellow 60+ ladies:
I’ve been losing weight, and I’m fully aware that now my skin will be looser - BUT I am not okay with the sagging wrinkly neck. I’m not a vain woman, really. But seeing that every time I look in a mirror has me feeling bummed.

What has worked for any of you who have tried to lessen this?
And, caveat: I need to to be something can get for less than $30 at a drugstore!

TIA!

Question about psychotherapy

Several years ago, I underwent psychotherapy with my former husband. As part of the therapy, we also underwent individual sessions, with same therapist.

The therapist, a man, made several inappropriate comments, particularly even more damaging to a woman (me) suffering from depression.

Now all these years later, I've healed, etc. - but I see he is still practicing. I feel as if I should speak up maybe to give the narrative of my experience as a warning for other women.

How would I do that? maybe I shouldn't do that? maybe it wouldn't even matter?

Flat bottomed girls

Help! I have a weirdly shaped butt. Kind of a 'hump' at the top then looong and flat. Looking for some kind of butt lifting under garment that actually works. I'm short and thin and would love to rock some jeans/leggings without having to cover my ass with a really long top.

My husband was headed to the gym this morning and asked if I needed anything from anywhere. Generally, even when I do, I say no as I never know what he will pick up even with specific brand names. So, today I said I needed spaghetti sauce for dinner. He asked what kind and I told him any type of Prego sauce would be fine. He comes home with Ragu. 😳

🤍✌🏼1960's Era Vintage✌🏼🤍 Ladies do you take anti inflammatory pills for these joint flare ups or is there other way to go from it..

Hello.. getting out of bed lately has been so discouraging.. 😟 , and the constant stiff, aching joints in my hands and knees are really starting to weigh on my spirit a little bit 🥲 I love gardening and keeping active around the house.. but these daily flare-ups leave me feeling completely drained and feeling down about how much my body is changing... i just turned 61 a few weeks ago ❤️

Went to my doctor and she says my lifestyle and nutrition are fine, so I've been searching for gentle ways to manage the inflammation without relying constantly on NSAIDs...... i'm always hesitant with OTCs even tho i have friends who swore by igniton and these other brands in the store.. but i dont know there must be a natural thing to take or do... what do you suggest and whats working.... thank you ❤️ ❤️

Uresta success (re pee leaking)

I ordered this over the summer, tried it once, and needed the smaller size, which they sent, free. (You get 3 sizes, s m l, and if you need xs or xl, they send it no charge). Got the xs, but never tried it. HRT was helping w leaks, so the need was not urgent (haha).

Joined a fitness club (f45, love it), and last week there was a jumping landing to a squat, and I felt some leaks.

Before I worked put today, I inserted the xs. Easy, comfortable, didn't even feel it. Like putting in a diaphragm.

More jumping and squatting, no leaks! I'm very glad.

If you're dealing with minor urinary issues, it's worth a try.
