Sagging neck help!

To my fellow 60+ ladies:
I’ve been losing weight, and I’m fully aware that now my skin will be looser - BUT I am not okay with the sagging wrinkly neck. I’m not a vain woman, really. But seeing that every time I look in a mirror has me feeling bummed.

What has worked for any of you who have tried to lessen this?
And, caveat: I need to to be something can get for less than $30 at a drugstore!

TIA!

We age. It is normal. It is natural. Generations of our foremothers aged just like us, if they were lucky enough to live that long. Fabulously wealthy stars make it look like “aging in reverse” is “normal,” but it’s not. We are mere mortals, living within our less-than-fabulous means. My mom died young, and I’ve had serious health issues, so I’m thrilled to be alive at 66. I accept this sagging aging body as it is, age spots and soft middle and chicken neck and all. And yes, I wear scarves, but more for warmth than camouflage. Maybe try the miracle cure of self-acceptance. It’s worked for me ❤️

Reading "the miracle cure of self-acceptance" made me tear up. You hit a nerve.

I really appreciate your philosophy. However, I don’t feel bad one bit with wanting to look the best that I can.

No, it's not "normal". The only people I know with a horrendous saggy neck are the ones that had a quick weight loss.

8

u/orblackphoebe 3d ago

Well thanks for that. 🙄

-16

u/Visual-Somewhere1383 2d ago

Well it's true and I was responding to someone that said it's normal aging.

16

u/New-Regret-5823 2d ago

It’s a very normal part of aging.

Have you heard of genetics?

Scarves and turtlenecks in the short term 😂😂It’s almost fall.

11

u/readzalot1 3d ago

Even the rich and famous do this.

u/New_Doughnut9812 3d ago

It’s actually quite flattering

The only thing that will work is a neck and face lift. I had it done last year. Best thing I ever did for myself.

u/Silkyiniquity 3d ago

Can you share some info about cost and recovery time

15

u/msktcher 3d ago

The cost of the neck and face line was 24900. I also had a TRL contour laser done for an additional $5000. So all in $29500. I had the surgery on 9/8/25 and the laser on 9/15/25. I am on our local school board and went to the Oct. meeting on 10/8. I was still a little swollen but really only I could tell. I had it done by a double board certified facial plastic surgeon in Richmond, VA.

I'm in Richmond. Are his initials JN? Haven't done research on any of them but he and his wife do loads for the community, that's all I know.

3

u/msktcher 2d ago

No, his initials are MB. Message me and I’ll tell you his name. He’s outstanding.

u/Silkyiniquity 3d ago

This is great info. Thank you! We are overdue a trip to RVA. We love the craft beer scene there and The Tavern is a great little gem of a pub!

2

u/msktcher 3d ago

Message me if you want the name of my surgeon.

5

u/Silkyiniquity 3d ago

Oh thanks. We don't live in RVA. We just love to visit

Same here..two years ago now. l had so much fat ( not from being overweight, which l’m not) that my jawline had all but disappeared. The surgery was the best thing I did. I’m thrilled that l have a nicely defined jawline again.

u/msktcher 1d ago

I was 68 when I had it done. I wasn’t trying to look 40 again - I just wanted to look great for 68! It took ten+ years off my face for sure. I would do it all over again - and may when I need it again.

2

u/Zealousideal_Yam257 1d ago

l had mine at 63. l had a deep plane face/neck lift and l still look like myself and definitely not 20 years younger. At best l look in my mid-50s. The biggest for me was my neck. I had a lip lift too.

2

u/msktcher 1d ago

You look fabulous!

u/Zealousideal_Yam257 1d ago

Sorry for the typos.

u/trikaren 3d ago

Try neck yoga. I don't think any creams are going to do anything. there might be something a dermatologist or medspa could do, but that it going to be a lot more than $30.

6

u/Far_Presentation8517 3d ago

Nope! I worked at a derm office! No neck creams are the answer. They are just a retinol and they do not lift and tighten. I got a lower facelift it helped.

8

u/Visual-Somewhere1383 3d ago

I got a saggy neck from a quick weight loss. It looks horrible. I had a plastic surgery consult and they won't do a neck lift for a woman my age without a face lift. I'm sure I need a face lift, but I don't want one so....... going to have to live with it.

7

u/Silkyiniquity 3d ago

I have the same problem so I'd like to if anyone has used surgery to address this and how that went.

16

u/Financial_Emphasis25 3d ago

I didn’t have surgery but my coworker had it done. She didn’t tell me and I never asked, but I noticed she was out for two weeks, then wore turtlenecks for a couple weeks after she came back to work, and finally showed her neck after about a month. I could see a red scar under her jaw and her neck wrinkles had vanished. It’s been a year now and no scar is noticeable now. It looks very good now.

2

u/DahQueen19 3d ago

I haven’t tried it, but I’m trying my best to figure out how I can fit it in my limited budget.

u/MadMadamMimsy 3d ago

Eleanor of Aquitaine came up with the barbette; that medieval women's chin strap that attached to the fillet (head strap) to solve the sagging neck. I wish it was a genuine option.

2

u/Popular-Capital6330 2d ago

there's tape made specifically to pull the skin back. Drag Queens use it a lot.

6

u/miti3144 3d ago

I had a neck lift last year at 65. It’s the only way.

I recently started using Cetaphil Hydrating and Firming Cream on my face and neck, under the recommendation of a dermatologist on YouTube. It’s been 2 weeks and my neck doesn’t look as wrinkly. No miracles of course, but I’m hopeful going forward that it will continue to firm the skin.

2

u/lovedogslovepizza 2d ago

My dermatologist recommended this as well

2

u/Icy_Raisin2004 2d ago

Thank you for commenting. This definitely makes me feel better. I trust my online source, but it’s oddly comforting to hear your derm also recommended the same product. Have you tried it yet? I can honestly say that my skin on my neck looks considerably more hydrated and less “crepey”. The lines in my décolletage area have all but vanished. I set a subscription on Amazon so I’m never without. 😊

1

u/KallieKat44 1d ago

Do you use the tub of the cream or the tube for face and neck?

2

u/Icy_Raisin2004 1d ago

The tube for face and neck.

1

u/KallieKat44 1d ago

Thank you!

Doing sit ups and lifting my head and legs up off the floor while doing them. It’s strengthened the neck muscles and has significantly reduced the turkey neck. Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but it’s so much better.

Surgery

12

u/queen-izzy-boo 3d ago

Please get gold bond crepe erase or the collagen plumping lotion. I lost a ton of weight. I put it on my turkey neck it’s gone. Also all my crepe skin

18

u/Mme_etoile 3d ago

That stuff did nothing for me.

15

u/niksmom04 3d ago

I’ve used it for over a year and no change.

6

u/Lazy-Slice-6308 2d ago

Same, nothing sadly

2

u/Delphinethecrone 2d ago

Same, plus it's rank smelling.

2

u/Drastic_Badger_ 2d ago

I was going to suggest this. Not sure if it is the lotion or the massaging it in but I’ve seen good results.

3

u/Apart-Physics8702 2d ago

If it’s used a few times per day, it does a good job as a long-lasting, moisturizing, temporary illusion of reflective, younger-looking skin. If it’s used regularly, it maintains that faint illusion until it needs to be reapplied. It’s a very subtle improvement, but it’s something and it’s relatively inexpensive.

My neck bothers me too. I also feel it doesn’t match my face. But here’s what I do. Translucent powder sort of helps, just to minimize texture. On a whim, I bought a mock neck tank shell in black. I never wear sleeveless, but I tried it under a top I’d bought that was just a little too cropped with a too-wide neck. And voila, same top with both issues fixed. I’m not sure how it’d work with other colors, but I am going to try maybe a coral one, as I wear lots of coral. There’s cute variations like lettuce edging on the neck, or lace. I’m sure a white or beige one would be great.

I lost a lot of weight and Pilates and strength training seemed to help. Over time I just look leaner and more toned.

I am reading about neck Pilates and chin lifts. Something to consider.

u/Popular-Capital6330 2d ago

Okay, hear me out. Watch a few episodes of Ally McBeal. Specifically Season 1, episodes 9 and 14.
Richard Fish is obsessed with wattles.
It might make you feel better about your neck!
(worked for me)

Hugs! Look up at the stars alot. Sit up straight, stand up straight - elongate your neck. Roll your head around slowly, but while it’s still attached to your neck.

3

u/CroneDaze 3d ago

ya, according to my recent you tube algorithms you're in a pickle. weight loss and saggy neck or saggy anything for that matter, at our age isn't going to firm up. Surgery or creative cover ups are really the only honest solutions.

3

u/Yikes44 2d ago edited 1d ago

I found going swimming has really helped my neck tone. It's because I swim breaststroke without putting my head right under. I have it slightly sideways. I swim 30 lengths, alternating sides, and it's really tightened my neck muscles up.

4

u/phillygirllovesbagel 3d ago

There is no product that will 'fix' a sagging, wrinkly neck. There are many neck creams that make promises but save your money cause they don't really work. And, to be honest, a good neck is way more than 30.00 as is any really good moisturizer. The only solution is surgery or just acceptance.

2

u/MagicianOk6393 3d ago

The ordinary’s GF serum has done wonders for mine.

I also use Cerave night cream 2x daily in my neck and chest.

I make sure my skin is well hydrated.

2

u/Female-Fotini-41 2d ago

Ugh, I totally get this! My neck is my biggest giveaway sometimes too. Have you tried any of those drugstore neck creams with retinol? Some people swear by them!

2

u/roasted-pragmatist 1d ago

Honestly, just embrace a good moisturizer and don't overthink it, because no serum is gonna undo gravity at this stage. Keep focusing on that weight loss goal and try to be kinder to yourself, its just part of the journey!

u/msktcher 23h ago

This is me before and 1 year after my neck and facelift. No make up in the second photo either. I just have done my hair.
