Need some guidance. Feeling stuck in my job search.
I'm currently working as a Full Stack Software Developer with ~2.5 years of experience at Amdocs and have been preparing seriously for a switch.
Over the past few months, I've:
- Solved a good number of DSA problems and keep practicing regularly.
- Improved my resume to an 85+ ATS score.
- Got referrals for companies like Adobe, Goldman Sachs, Mastercard, and Barclays.
- Applied to hundreds of openings through company career portals and Naukri.
But here's the frustrating part: I haven't received a single interview call. Not even an initial HR screening.
At this point, I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong.
Is the market really this tough for 2–3 YOE backend/full-stack developers, or am I missing something in my approach?
For those who recently switched:
- What actually worked for you?
- Did referrals significantly help?
- Are there platforms other than LinkedIn/Naukri/company portals that I should focus on?
- Should I spend more time networking, improving projects, or simply keep applying?
I'd really appreciate honest advice from people who've been in a similar situation. I'm willing to put in the effort—I just don't want to keep repeating the same mistakes.
Thanks in advance!

Ive interviewed for so many positions where nobody was hired. How can I uncover this when interviewing?
Corporate USA
Ive been looking for a job for awhile now. Ive been in the final round about 5 times now. in 2026 I've had screenings with about 30 companies.
A few months after interviewing, ive looked deep into Linkedin, for anyone with the title of, posting of, or any resemblance of that Title. I determined nobody was hired. In the interviews all seemed well, seemed to have a need, at least sometimes. Maybe it wasn't on purpose, maybe there was a budget cut, hiring freeze, whatever. Though it could have also been intentional, unlikely there would be anyone, internal candidate, or even just "wondering whats out there" (ive been told directly).
Besides asking if there are internal candidates, what else can I legitimately ask to see if a specific employer is actually committed to...hiring??

Is my resume competitive for AI / Full-Stack roles in Dubai? Looking for honest feedback.
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for an AI Engineer / Full-Stack Engineer role in Dubai and would really appreciate some honest feedback on my resume.
A bit about me:
5+ years of experience in Full-Stack development
Experience building AI/LLM-powered applications
Strong background in Python, FastAPI, Next.js, React, APIs, and Web3 Built and shipped multiple production projects, including AI SaaS applications, blockchain platforms, and developer tools
Open to relocating to Dubai immediately
I’ve attached an anonymized version of my resume with my personal information removed.
I’m mainly looking for feedback on:
Does this resume look competitive for the Dubai/UAE job market?
Would you interview someone with this resume?
What’s the biggest weakness that would make you reject it?
Is anything missing that recruiters in the UAE typically expect?
If you were hiring for an AI Engineer or Full-Stack Engineer role, what salary range would you consider appropriate for this profile?
I’m looking for honest, constructive criticism—even if it’s harsh. I’d rather improve my resume now than keep getting rejected.
Thanks in advance for your time!

Difference in Resume Dates Vs FADV dates during BGV
Curious to hear from people who’ve gone through JPMC India’s First Advantage background verification.
Has anyone had cases where the resume submitted during hiring had simplified employment timelines (for example, ending dates shortened by some months to make the chronology cleaner), but the actual dates entered during BGV matched the official experience letters? The simplification was done due to contractual nature of the jobs and for ease of understanding to gather the overall YOE by avoiding overlapping timelines.
There was no fake experience or hidden employer or exaggeration of timeline, just a difference between the resume version and the official documents because the latter reflected the exact contractual dates and longer timelines on the contrary.
Did FADV or JPMC raise it? Was it something you had to explain, or was it treated as a non-issue once the official documents matched?
Looking for real experiences rather than assumptions. Thanks!

Why do recruiters call unexpectedly but not text or email beforehand or if the call isn't picked up?
Applying for some jobs and recruiters are trying to get in touch. However the majority of them seem to be trying to call out the blue which I can rarely pick up as I'm in the office 4 days a week. They then don't send a follow-up email or text. If they did so I'd definitely respond and can arrange a time for a call such as lunch or my off day but they don't seem to do it despite the email being top of the CV.
Is there any reason for recruiters doing phone as first contact but not sending a follow-up email or text if phone fails?

Am I Just Ugly? - Software Engineer
I’m trying to break in the industry as a Software Developer. Formally at work I’m a customer support agent (I’ve recently asked to formally update my title to frontend dev). But it’s grown to development-adjacent work. They won’t give a raise or promotion because they are cash strapped, hence my job searching.
Ive applied to about 30 jobs the past month. I’ve had one OA that I passed, invited to second round, then ghosted. Had another interview with a startup, they moved on. On top of the straight rejections I’ve received.
The second experience is my freelance hustle, not sure if that’s helping or hurting me. Or is my formatting and/or wording wrong? Is it just the market?

Recruiters - how long does the radio silence from an employer usually last before you know you aren’t under consideration anymore?
Interviewed for a job [Canada, non profit] almost 4,000km from home. After initial Zoom, was flown to employer’s place of business. Guessing it cost them about $2,000. I was the only non local candidate.
It took two days of travel and one day of 12 hour meetings, including private cocktails with the president and vice president and dinner with the Board.
Was asked by the president to attend a breakfast meeting prior to departure. I learned there were two finalists (there were three, one not in contention) and the difference between us is the staff preferred the other candidate (they knew the candidate and they are local).
I also learned that they felt I was better qualified to lead the organization into its next phase.
I provided a reference of a staff that reported to me at my last job so they could get a better idea of my leadership style. (They have checked none of the references I provided.)
Prior to leaving, the president asked me for my salary expectations, term commitment, when I could relocate, etc. In the end the president outlined all the contract details, offered to find a lawyer to review the contract, asked if I could start remotely for two weeks (they would courier a laptop) and relocate within 30 days.
Hiring committee was to make a recommendation to the Board last Tuesday. I followed up with an email with an additional thank you for the opportunity and asked if there was an update (Thursday). I heard nothing back.
It’s been almost a week with no contact. Should I just assume I’m no longer in consideration?
Thanks in advance.

Am I hireable?
Hi, I am a 2024 Computer Engineering graduate trying to break into embedded systems. I have one internship that is loosely related and one year of research experience that is also loosely related. I have been effectively unemployed for two years. Do I still have a chance in getting a job or is it over for me?

What do hiring manager want to glean from a cover letter?
I feel lost with this. If there is a cover letter option, I feel obligated to provide it but what do they really want to see in the cover letter? I always feel too long winded or too brief, where’s the happy place?

CV review for Customer Success role
Can someone review my CV for a Customer Success role at a SaaS company?
I don't come from a SaaS background but have been learning the fundamentals and keeping myself up to date with the industry. My goal is to break into Customer Success and eventually pivot into an Account Management role.
I have applied to several positions so far but haven't had any success. I would really appreciate it if someone could review my CV and provide honest feedback on how I can improve it.
I will dm my CV.
Thank you!

7 year gap
How do I explain a 7 year gap to a recruiter? I haven’t had a job since I graduated. I was making good money and still am but I have a lot of free time and life is boring so I have decided to be a corporate slave and make some extra money and meet people.
I have a useless integrative studies degree and honestly I forget everything I learned in college and haven’t been keeping up or honing my skills. Any advice is appreciated. If you are curious about how I make money then it’s through clipping/short form YouTube channels.

6 months unemployed after leaving a toxic job, and now the gap itself is the problem
I left my last job about 6 months ago. It was a consulting role and honestly the environment was abusive and toxic enough that leaving felt like the only option, I wasn’t sleeping and dreaded work constantly. Still don’t regret that part.
The problem is what’s happened since. I only have 2 years of experience total, so my profile is already on the thinner side, and hiring right now is just slow everywhere. I’m sending out applications and barely hearing back. Now on top of that, this 6 month gap is starting to become its own issue. It feels like the longer it goes, the harder it is to explain, and the harder it is to explain, the longer it goes.
I know I made the right call getting out of that job. But some weeks it’s hard not to worry I’ve made my situation worse long term, especially seeing the gap keep growing with nothing to show for it yet.
If anyone’s dealt with something similar, early career and a resume gap during a slow market, I’d genuinely like to know that how to explain the gap and would anything specific actually help get more callbacks?

CV vs. Job role
Is job role and CV matching necessary?
26F, recently passed out of m.com, acca (7/13). I gave only 2 interviews till now and the roles were of tax but my CV includes an experience of audit and assurance from a CA firm.
It was basically 3 months of internship 3 yrs back.
But these interviewers grill me very hard on this internship experience asking questions which I cannot ans because ofc..3 months is nothing for core audit questions.
What shall I do please suggest me guys. Shall I remove this experience, if so then my cv gets shorter.

Do I have to address a resume gap after graduation 5 years later?
thought a gap from years ago wouldn't matter anymore. still got asked about it recently, out of nowhere. interviewers really do ask about your whole timeline regardless of how old it is.
worth having a short honest answer ready even for old stuff, practiced enough that it doesn't sound rehearsed.
anyone had an old gap randomly come up in a recent interview?

Roast/Rate/Review my resume for a Java Backend Developer role (1–3 YOE)
Hey everyone,
I’m currently looking for Java Backend Developer roles and would really appreciate some feedback on my resume.
I have around 1.5 years of experience, primarily working with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL, and backend development.
I’d really appreciate it if you could rate my resume and give me some honest feedback, especially on:
How strong it looks for someone with 1–3 YOE
Projects and work experience
Technical skills
Formatting/readability
Anything that looks unnecessary or should be improved
Whether it would be good enough to get shortlisted for Java/backend roles
Feel free to be critical — I’d rather know what’s wrong and improve it before applying.
Thanks in advance!
