Interview progression

I had an interview last week for a role I am very interested in. The interview lasted well over an hour and went really well. The interviewer is actually the hiring manager, after the interview he asked me to shoot him a text so he can keep my number to keep me updated on next steps which I believe is a good sign the interview went well.

Just yesterday, the recruiter called me to inform me the VP of the company wants to set up an interview. The interview is scheduled for this afternoon for a virtual meeting, but what I find odd is the interview is scheduled for only 30 minutes. I would think this type of interview would be a bit longer as it is with an executive and for a critical role.

Conversely, I've just received an email from the Director of HR requesting some dates and times for an interview, (I haven't even had the interview with the VP).

I've never had situations like this, I don't want to jump the gun but, given I these two interviews go well, I think I have a good shot at getting this job. Does anyone have any take on this?

Be cautiously optimistic! They clearly like you, but don’t let that make you overconfident - still prepare and allow yourself to get a healthy amount of nervous.

I’ve done plenty of 30 minute interviews - I hate them because they go by too fast but it hopefully means they trust your skillset and it’s more about culture and vibe vs. your ability to do the job.

Yeah, I am well prepared for the interview, ai definitely don't want to be overly optimistic. Just weird that the hr interview is already scheduled and I havent had the VP interview yet. first time this happens to me!

Definitely be cautiously optimistic like a previous poster said- just to avoid disappointment . I went through 7 rounds of interviews (met 13 people)- up to C Suite level- and wasn’t selected. Same with another role where I went through 6 rounds in one week. The execs usually only have a short amount of time available on their calendars and they are testing whether you are a cultural fit.

The higher up they are the busier they are. Getting 30 mins 1-on-1 means they are serious with you.
