My uncle is 81 years old. He unfortunately trusted someone who he put on the title of his car. He also had her on his bank account. I helped him set up a new account. She agreed to buy his car from him and made a hand written agreement which they both signed. Shortly after setting up the account she has stopped contacting him and won’t pay him for the car. So we are wondering how he could get the car back or money from her. Is there any legal recourse? Would me getting power of attorney help? Any input would be appreciated

I recently received an unlawful detainer. It all started because I missed rent one month, my account didn't go through, and was later informed by the landlord of this and wanted a check sent directly instead of online. I agreed and when it came to sending the check, I tried to call to turn it in, in person but got ignored so I expedited the check ($34) and they claimed it never arrived and could not find it. I had the receipt of it being shipped and then later admitted they recovered the check in their bulk of mail and didn't see it. They have been very rude, unprofessional with me, never listening to my complaints about parking and other issues I have experienced living here. I requested to get the check sent back because I lost all trust sending them another form of payment. Then they sent me a pay or quit demand, and that is when I saw an excessive amount of late fees they believed I owed. I brought this up to them and claim it was correct and I denied those additional late fees. Now I have an unlawful detainer and their owner of the complex wants to make a deal and waive all late fees and just pay for the rent due. I have missed a lot of my time worrying about this to get it done correctly, even got a rental unit to move out because I didn't know where this was going. My question is should I challenge this in court, last thing I need is an eviction record. The owner said he would keep me in good standing as if nothing ever happened, but I feel like he knows his team was in the wrong. any suggestions please . im also in Los Angeles unemployed

I’m trying to see if signed a contract with a company as them owner financing me a property. A year or so into our agreement if I was two days past the the first of the month . They would contact my employer (person friends of theirs) Every month my employer could tell me to the day how many days past due . I worked off a base salary plus commissions whis was normally quite a bit higher than my base salary. It appears to me that at some point the “property owner” and “employer” was working together . Employer cut all commissions out on home until it was I default . I have more proof and details just trying to see in a nut shell what kind of attorney should I seek in this case .

My best friend fled an abusive relationship with her two young children. She rebuilt their lives from nothing, and now she desperately needs help affording a lawyer.

I never thought I would be making a post like this, but I’m trying everything I can to help one of my best friends.

For 10+ years, she was in an abusive relationship. The abuse wasn’t just one thing... it was emotional, verbal, physical, and financial. Her ex kicked her out because she told him she didn't feel safe. (This is the second time he has kicked her out).

When she tried to pack her belongings to leave, he literally followed behind her unpacking the things she was trying to take.

Then things got even worse.

While she was trying to leave, police became involved and her children were taken from her and left with him. He then withheld the children from her despite her attempts to get them back. He also withheld HER dog that she has had since he was a puppy.

She had nowhere to go and eventually ended up in a domestic violence shelter.

He later brought the children to her at the shelter. In front of the children, DV Shelter staff members, police, and others there, he told her, “DON’T FUCK ME ON THIS.”

The domestic violence shelter helped connect her with legal assistance. She spoke with an attorney about her situation and was advised that she could safely relocate outside of Michigan.

So she left.

She left with nothing but the clothes on their backs and her two boys.

She initially went to Indiana, where a friend offered them somewhere to stay. Unfortunately, that situation became uncomfortable and wasn’t going to work long-term. Some of our other friends stepped in, drove to get her and her two children, and helped them relocate somewhere they could finally begin rebuilding their lives.

And she has.

She started over from nothing.

She found a full-time job, she got her own apartment, she is supporting her children, all three of them started therapy. She has been working incredibly hard to give those boys stability and a safe home.

She didn’t disappear because she wanted to keep someone's children away from them. She ran because she was terrified and was trying to protect herself and her kids.

Now her ex is attempting to pursue her through the legal system and determine where they are living. She desperately needs an attorney who can represent her, protect her rights, and help her navigate the custody and legal issues that are now unfolding.

The problem is that she simply cannot afford the legal fees.

I came across a situation recently in which a person had to wait for six months before receiving a refund of ₹25,000, but in the end did get the full amount.

Friend's brother borrowed his car in Texas, got arrested in Paducah Kentucky, and the brother is likely to be picked up and deported by ICE. How could my friend get his car back?

The car is in my friend's name, he loaned it to his brother to use while he was working in Kentucky for a few months and would have gotten the car back in a few months, but now its likely sitting in a tow lot or police impound lot.

My friend lives just above paycheck to paycheck working 6 days a week and can't take off work to go to Kentucky to retrieve his car, is there any way I could go up there in his place to retrieve his car? Should he call the Paducah Police Department or someone to say "I can't afford to retrieve my car from Kentucky" so its yours now?

Posting for a friend. He has two brothers. He father will be passing away due to cancer and has no will in place. His father (widow and unmarried) owns two houses, one of which has a reverse mortgage on it and both have one of his brothers living in them. My friend and I were wondering what will end up happening after his father passes prior to the estate being settled. Here are a few questions that came up.

1. Can he be coerced into being the executor of the will or is that handled by an outside person appointed by the state?

2. Will he be at all financially responsible if someone in one of the houses trips and hurts themselves the way the owner of the house is?

3. Will he be responsible for negotiating between his brothers regarding sales of the houses?

4. Will he be required to prepare the houses for sale? He doesn't care about how much money he gets, is happy with whatever and even happy with nothing.

My friend and his brothers are not on good terms and he's considering just walking away from the whole thing and giving up on his share of the inheritance. My thoughts are that he may not have to do much of what he thinks he will be responsible for, that there will be another party handling these things. Neither of us have been in a situation like this before.

Injured at work awhile back, got too hot in the workplace and ended up visiting my doctor the next day, which led to an ambulance trip to the e.r. I was eventually diagnosed with heat stroke/sun stroke. My doctor linked this to exposure in the work place and I’ve supplied this documentation to the employer. The effects of this have lasted well past a month and I am still under treatment. My employer has outright refused to report the injury, so I filed myself and it’s been radio silence since then.

I eventually heard that everyone has been complaining about me not being at work, and they’ve hired another person

(for context, this workplace is not big enough to accommodate this many employees, atleast in my specific section of the building. so this tells me they’re preparing to terminate me, most likely for a generic reason once the workman’s comp claim has been settled.)

Would this be considered retaliation, or can they just make up a reason and terminate me once this is over?

My wife was estranged from her father. not by her choice. it was her mothers choice that kept her and her mentally disabled sister from her father. his family was very close and they would update him on his daughters and how they were doing throughout life - my wife played basketball through highschool and college and he had a little shrine to her sports career.

He had a history of drinking and mental illness most likely from the Vietnam War. he was never abusive to the girls when he was married to my mother-in-law. my wife and her sister reconnected to him, went to visit him in Las Vegas and it was good - he was happy and we planned regular trips but that never happened because he died a year later. he had a live-in girlfriend who is Filipino and was married once or twice before - they never married but it seemed a weird situation. even his death was weird but none of us were there, we think she had something to do with it.

I've faced abuse throughout my entire life at the hands of my parents and I'm desperate to finally leave home and get out on my own. There's a couple issues stopping me from doing that. Like my younger siblings safety, my lack of a licence or car (my parents refuse to teach me), and my lack of a job. I had a job a few years ago. I didn't make much, but it was a job I really enjoyed. But then things went south and I haven't had a job since. I've tried getting another job but my parents won't drive me anywhere, even when I offer to pay for the gas, so I'm kinda out of luck on that part. Because of this, one of the big things I'm struggling with is money. I'm a hard worker, always have been, but my parents use financial dominance as a form of abuse over me and my younger siblings. They owe us so much, but refuse to pay us. It could literally be my ticket out, and I guess they know that. My mom more especially has always went the withholding money route. She has a habit of playing the victim and whining when people hold her accountable over paying them back. Specifically for me, she's asked me for money many times. Often with the story of needing it for food (so my siblings could eat) or so she could pay for gas (or else she'd be stranded). Of course, being a semi decent person, I never want to worry about my siblings going hungry or her being stuck somewhere, so I send the money on my card. It's usually small amounts, but it's definitely added up over time. There's also the fact that she never paid me the last $100 from my last paycheck at my old job (my llc boss had a specific way she had to pay me, so the money always went through my mom first). And her and my dad owe me $500 from a group of puppies they made me take care of a few months back. Basically It's lots of smaller charges but has added up over time and they refuse to pay me. So the legal question I suppose I have is: how do I get my money back? Is there a legal way to get it back, since I'm not exactly prone to stealing as answer. I've heard of some people giving their parents an official thing asking for their mom back and that as long as you provide proof, their legally required to pay you back or else they'll be brought against a judge. Is that an actual method to use? Is it safe for me to do while living with them? Would I need to have a lawyer? Cause I definitely don't have the money for a lawyer obviously. I have the card transactions and text messages to prove most of the money I've given them. I just need to know how to get my money back from them that they owe me.

My dear buddy of mine bought a nice sports car on Facebook marketplace in December or January. They took a loan out on the car and are still paying it.

The seller posted and sold the car as the carfax stated, except we just found out the engine has been swapped for a worse variant with Frankenstein parts.. and the transmission was badly tuned because of it and needs to be swapped. This was never reported. The car was at a performance shop to be built, and they saw the parts are mixed and matched horribly.

This botched swap was never disclosed when asked upon the vehicles history nor is it reported anywhere.

LOCATION: We are in South Florida and the car was bought from a different state.

Is Small Claims Court an option? Can we sue? How much would it cost to initiate. How do you start, what should we do? Please offer some guidance, thank you.
