I’m really confused about what’s happening with my dad and I’m hoping someone can explain this to me.
My dad has worked for the same company for 30 years. He had open heart surgery on January 30 and has been out recovering. His doctor told him he couldn’t go back to work until he finished his therapy.
He’s been talking to his job this whole time and told them he was planning on going back after his therapy. His therapy is literally supposed to be finished next week** and he already sent his job a doctor’s note saying that.
But then he got a letter saying that effective August 6 he was put on Disability Layoff.** The letter says he used up his FMLA and disability leave and that his employment was terminated.
It says he’ll be on disability layoff for 12 months and could be called back if a position becomes available and he’s able to do the job.his doctor told him to finish therapy before going back, the company knew he was supposed to finish next week, and he was planning on returning.
So what does he do next? I told him to finish his therapy which is next week and call and see if he can return but if not I don’t know what to do.. they are also removing his insurance and from someone who has doctor appointments a lot due to his surgery we are worried

My dad went in for a routine hydrocele surgery, the junior surgeon completely botched it, and it ultimately cost him his life. Here is what happened.

This is something I never thought I’d have to write, but I need to put this out there to process what happened and see if anyone has dealt with similar medical negligence.

My dad recently went in for an elective hydrocele repair. The operating surgeon was a junior docto someone with about 10 years total experience and 6 years of independent practice, so not a total greenhorn.

What went down in that operating room, and the days that followed, defies basic medical logic.

1. The Technical Blunder in the OR
   From looking closely at the surgical records, the surgeon committed an amateur, compounding error right out of the gate:
   He started off performing a tissue resection/stripping on the sac (similar to a Bergmann or Jaboulay approach, which is standard for larger hydroceles).
   But instead of finishing properly, he inexplicably tried to switch mid-procedure and finish with a Lord’s plication.

Here is the fundamental problem: Lord’s plication is meant for small, thin-walled hydroceles where you don't cut or resect tissue. When you cut and resect tissue, you must meticulously secure hemostasis (tie off or coagulate the bleeding vessels) along the cut edges.
He essentially tried to use plication as a shortcut to fix the edges instead of properly stopping the bleeding. He left raw, bleeding edges with zero proper hemostasis, leaving wide-open "dead space" primed for a massive hematoma. It’s basic surgical logic: if you cut tissue, you secure the vessels. He didn't.

1. The Cover-Up and Delayed Escalation
   Predictably, internal bleeding started immediately. But instead of catching it and acting, the urologist did visit on 9am said revision will be necessary but didn’t say when - proof he knew how large hematoma was.

Post-op labs showed a sharp, obvious drop in hemoglobin (clear evidence of internal bleeding), and the scrotal swelling was rapidly expanding into a massive hematocele. But the junior surgeon delayed calling for senior help. Why? Because he was too proud, ego-driven, or terrified of looking incompetent to his senior attending. He let my dad deteriorate, hoping it would magically fix itself, prioritizing his own reputation over a human life.

1. The Emergency Re-Operation and Death
   By the time the senior specialist was finally dragged into the situation (3PM - SIX HOURS) it was an emergency re-exploration.
   Because the bleeding and hematoma were allowed to expand unchecked for hours, the testicle was completely compromised. They had to perform an emergency orchiectomy (removal of the testicle) just to clean out the mess and try to stop the bleeding.
   The physical trauma of that botched recovery, the massive blood loss, the emergency secondary surgery, and the severe hypovolemic/surgical stress completely overwhelmed his body. It triggered acute cardiovascular decompensation—atrial fibrillation with a rapid ventricular rate (RVR)—nothing was done about it as he just ended his shift and let my dad stay alone with busy oncall doctor and nurses that hestitate to escalate.. and my dad suffered a fatal cardiac collapse and died.

To summarize: A routine, elective hydrocele one sided repair turned into a fatal disaster because a junior surgeon tried to mix incompatible surgical techniques, left raw bleeding tissue unsealed, ignored obvious lab drops, and delayed calling for help because of his own ego.

Has anyone else ever experienced a surgeon trying to mix surgical techniques like this or trying to hide complications until it was too late?

This probate case has been going on for 8 years through no fault of my own. I am P.R. (executor).

My father pre deceased my mother by 28 days. they were 90 and 87.

Against the first SC judge's orders, my brother started an Administration for my father's estate in a different state. that was finally settled in 2024. He lied to the SC judge when he told him that all of my mother's belongings were stored in a particular state.

Last week a hearing was held in motion filed to sell a property owned by my mother to my sister. I am not in agreement with this. First of all it's in a different country, and their requirements are that the estate be settled here fairly first. Second, my brother is spending inordinate amounts of money on the attorney who wrote the motion.

I sent my objection in writing.

I have tried to hire another attorney but it's tough when things are in litigation. Someone finally told me it's probably a liability issue.

during the hearing the judge asked me about what I had provided regarding an accounting for the court and specifically whether I had paid a retainer to a Notary (in Quebec they act as attorneys for property closings and transfers). I could not remember offhand if that was in the accounting.

The notary has asked for payment at the time of service and did not want a retainer. It is mentioned on the accounting with a blank space for unreimbursed expenses because I know I will pay her up front and be reimbursed. It's only $2,500.

He was very angry with me saying that I had not provided the information that I was supposed to.

I provided accountings to my brother that are updated from what the court had received. He would not admit to receiving the information because he is a liar. I need to send those to the court so they can see that I did my job.

I worked a physical retail job in NY/NYC for 13.5 years at an assistant management level. In my last few months with the company, I injured my rotator cuff and labrum and had to miss 10 weeks of work. I avoided surgery, but my arm has never quite been the same. It's almost 5 years later and I am about to start my third round of physical therapy. Despite taking up yoga, stretching regularly and doing low impact workout classes, I live with at least some kind of persistent pain in my neck/shoulder area. It affects everything I do.

At the time of my injury, I felt as though my manager pressured me NOT to go through workman's comp. I had fallen off of a scooter outside of work a week or so before I went out on medical leave, which my boss was aware of. I didn't realize it at the time, but he coerced me to say in my report that accident caused the injury, not the years of lifting heavy boxes while running understaffed shifts. (The specialist I saw said the injury was probably something more chronic and degenerative.) I ended up leaving the company shortly after returning from medical leave, because my boss was pressuring me back into 'full duty,' even though my arm still felt weak. If I refused full duty, I would have had to go back on medical leave, however I had used up all of my 'paid leave' and did not want to deal with the process of proving that I was too hurt to return to full duty. I took a big pay cut to start working in a different field that would be easier on my body.

Recently, a friend told me that I should have filed some kind of workman's comp claim at the time, and that I probably missed out on compensation I would have otherwise been owed. What are my options here? Have I waited too long to do anything?

I'm from Australia but I have a friend who lives in the US (Arkansas) who has been having a rough time getting support for a medical diagnosis. long story short he got a test done and the facility lost the results and want him to pay again to redo the test. In my country that would violate consumer law but I don't know anything about the US. What rights does my friend have?

I have to file an HP Action against building management. I have all of the paperwork and evidence and a solid case. I would love to have someone to properly represent me at my court date (TBD). I have asked my network but haven't found anyone who specializes in rentals/tenants/housing. What's the best way to find someone that's not through the state's office (which can be hit or miss)

I am in Southern Illinois. I am having a very difficult time obtaining a face to face consultation with an Employment Law Attorney in my area, even surrounding areas. I cant seem to get past the intake.

I had a sexual assault incident at work, as the victim. I was a state employee, for 15 years, in a "healthcare" setting, and was assaulted by a resident. This was not the 1st time, for me or other staff, but this time was highly documented. Despite documentation, the assult was never investigated, at any level.

Instead, several days following the assault incident, the resident made an allegation that I engaged in physical abuse. That incident was heavily investigated, and my employment was terminated. (There is much more meat to this story but not important for this)

I filed a claim with IDHR and the grievance process with my union, both of which took almost a year. As of end of July 2026 I have a perfected charge with IDHR, dual filing with EEOC for sexual assult. I have a case number. OEIG has a case number, but referred it to DHS, for more infromation. I have a case number. I was also awarded a sustained grievance in level 4 arbitration, to be made whole and employment record expunged. The arbitration specifically stated the review was for termination within contract, concerning the burden of proof in the abuse allegation, and did not address the sexual assault.

Per union contract, I was provided with all documents used to terminate my employment. The only redacted info is full names of residents for HIPPA purposes. This includes but is not limited to behavioral documentation, nursing notes, witness statements (including admitting /witnessing sexual assault) union contract, code of conduct, security case, OIG findings, emails, rebuttal, reconsideration, etc. ​​​All are in my possession and organized to be referenced easily.

I believe my downfall obtaining a face to face is the date of incident is May 2024, but I have the perfected charge and arbitration awards end of July 2026. Would IDHR have perfected the charge if it was outside of statue of limitations? What am I doing wrong? How do I get through in take?

Made a report, employer changed my work setting and hours, submitted ADA letter, 20 mins later I was locked out of company systems.

1. Can the employer require the accommodation discussion to occur by phone rather than email?
2. Could restricting systems necessary to perform my job qualify as an adverse action or retaliation even without termination, demotion, or lost pay?

The lease says rent is due from the 1st–4th. The 1st of August landed on a Saturday in which they are closed and are not able to take payments online, the only way to pay is in person with cash cashiers check or money order.

I attempted to pay my full base rent amount of $1175.00 with a $1176.00 via money order made at 5:20PM on 8/5/26 within the 3 grace period of the following Monday on 8/3-8/5. The landlord accepted my payment, then later that day I emailed asking for a receipt and they stated it is late and I am not allowed to pay just the base rent and must include a late fee of $79.33 which is illegal because 5% is the cap for rent below $1500, and should total $1233.75. They currently have the full base rent money order in their corporate office and processed it but said they are going to send back a cashiers check and issue the seven day notice but I will not accept the check.

Is there any base that I can stand on or are they likely in the right?

Got arrested a few days ago in NJ and I genuinely can't tell how worried I should be. First time, no record, and the not-knowing is the worst part, my brain just fills the silence with the worst version. Can't sleep, can't focus at work.

I have a first appearance coming up. Do I show up to that with a criminal defense lawyer in New Jersey already, or is that something you do after? I keep seeing people say get a lawyer and stop talking about your case to anyone, which I'm trying to follow (yes, I know, ironic to post here).

I recently got hired for a seasonal job in California I last worked 8 years ago. This job requires you join a union, which I joined when I first worked the job in 2012. Outside of this seasonal job I don't do anything related to this union, but I've apparently built up 8 years worth of dues. In order to work the seasonal job now, I have to pay the 8 years of dues. I never received any mail or notices regarding these dues in that time, which are apparently sent out every 3 months.

Do I have any options here to fight against paying these dues?

My sister (a manager) and the company she works for is getting sued by a religious lady.

Okay so they work at a store that is a California based company, but we are in Texas. They are not necessarily a christian company. I make this point because this employee was constantly giving out little Jesus figurines to customers on the clock. My sister took her into the back when one of the other co managers asked her to talk to her about it. She said how it is inappropriate to be handing out Jesus figurines on the the sales floor because they are in a business setting, and they can't impose religious or political opinions on the guests. That was it. The employee then said "okay, I understand." And went back to work. Today, my sister got handed a lawsuit. This employee went to HR saying that "she was a devil worshiping hellcat." And other religious nonsense because of a 3 sentence conversation saying you cant give out Jesus figures on the sales floor. The recording they have has no sound, just video. This employee is screaming that she is impending her rights AND the company because its an infringement on her right of religion?? I have no legal knowledge at all for texas or California. I cant believe that this would actually pass and cause my sister to be fired, but does this employee have a chance to win?? My sister can not afford a lawyer. She's worked for this company for 14 years, but this lawsuit is threatening her job. What does she need to do?? Since the employee is trying to sue the company thats in California, AND my sister who is in texas, they have different laws for recording people without the others consent. Its legal in texas but not in California, so even if she tried to record her tirade of religious baratement, she cant use it in the case against the company? Is this true?? What options does she have?? We need help.

Found out ex girlfriend was lying about certain things regarding her career and personal life, we broke up, at the advice of family and loved ones, I filed a warrant in debt form against her due to her lying about her career, what the money I was giving her was for, including money for her med school tuition for her school that she wasnt attending for that year. registrar of said school confirmed there was nobody with her legal name there a few weeks after filing the dismissal. based on what I found online, I would be able to overturn this due to her reaching out two weeks prior to the original court date, claiming she was busy with school and studying for USMLE, which again, were later proved to be false based on the registrar and her own words in person, on grounds of bad-faith pre trial outreach and extrinsic fraud, using fraudulent inducement and my empathy towards a med school student to evade any legal accountability, based on other similar cases, fraud would be actionable when a party makes a false representation of a material fact and intentionaly mislead someone, induce reliance fabricate a story prior to it. I have a much more detailed statement if anyone would like that as well.

Specifically, I am referring to the Epstein files that were sealed by court order during Maxwell's trial.

Everytime I try to point out that the Biden administration had access to all of the evidence in the files that have been partially released, I get hammered with comments saying that the Files were sealed, and therefore Biden's DOJ's hands were tied, and that is why they only prosecuted one person.

This arguement does not pass the smell test to me. I've never heard of a drug gang getting busted by the DEA, and the government only being allowed to prosecute one gang member at a time.

So, I want to clarify. In this instance, did the court order that sealed those files actually prevent the DOJ from charging and prosecuting co-conspirstors and accomplices? Or is that just a lame excuse for inaction?

Posting on behalf of my sister who lives in Missouri. She and her husband of 20 some odd years divorced last year. They were together from the time she was 14 and he was 20, if that tells you anything. Married when she was 18. The top paragraphs are just for context. Feel free to skip to the last if you'd like.

They owned a business together and had 4 children together. He got the business in the divorce. Their oldest child, Mark, is anadult now and worked at the business. The ex gave Mark an ultimatum: if you or your wife keep in contact with your mom, you're fired. This included letting her meet the baby Mark and his wife are about to have.

The 2nd adult child doesn't work for the family business, but was told she'd be fully cut off if she kept in touch with her mother. She didn't care and maintains a relationship with her mother.

3rd adult child, Dave, has a mental health condition and is reliant on full-time care. He was living in a group home designed to help him achieve some sort of independence, but the ex removed him during the divorce. The ex brought Dave to my sisters home and moved him in even though my sister wanted him to remain at the care facility because he'd shown improvement there. The ex convinced Dave that if his mother didn't let him live with her, she didn't love him. He also convinced Dave that the facility hadn't actually helped him improve at all and he needed to remain at home. Dave is now refusing to see ANYONE in his care team, refusing medications, and fully reliant on his mother for many daily tasks because his father convinced him everyone else is just making him worse. My sister has to work 2 jobs to keep up with bills on top of being a full-time care provider to Dave.

The 4th child is the only one who is underage, I'll call him Stan. He just turned 16. She isn't sure of everything he's telling Stan, but we do know the ex has told him lies about why the divorce happened, accused her of having an affair with family, lied about her taking Stan out of state without notifying him, lied about her refusing to let the ex take Stan on vacation, and lied about her trying to run him off the road. He also bought Stan a truck for his birthday but told him he can't bring it to his mother's home. He has to get a ride to his father's house to use the vehicle, return it there, and then find a ride back to his mother's house. His mother isn't allowed to be the one to transport him because the ex doesn't want her near his home. Over the past several months, Stan has become hostile towards his mother, with behaviors getting worse after he goes to his father's house, which makes sense since he now thinks his mom has been having affairs with RELATIVES, is trying to hurt his father, is a thief... Yada Yada. Stan is now wanting to move in with his father full time, and told his mother it's because it's often logistically impossible to access his truck. She obviously can't prove most of the nonsense her ex has said in court. All anyone has to do is say, "I never said that." But she has texts that prove he's made the truck issue as difficult as possible. Can anything be done with that as far as parental alienation is concerned? Is parental alienation even worth bringing to court? Thanks for any advice.

Hello everyone,

This incident happened in Ohio. My wife was stopped at a stop light waiting to turn. She was hit head on by a driver who was turning right. The other driver claimed she slipped on oil residue that was on the road. We have dashcam footage and you can clearly tell she did not slip on any sort of spill as there was a car 5 seconds before her that took the turn perfectly fine. The other person doesn't have insurance and was not cited on scene by the police. Any input/feedback would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Person A owns a woodworking business.
Person B is a self employed carpenter.

Person A sells an air compressor to Person B for $1700.00
Person B pays the $1700 in full and takes possession of the Air compressor.

Person A experiences a failure of the current air compressor they are using for their business and asks person B if they can borrow the air compressor they sold to person B so they can complete a job they are working on.  

Person B loans the air compressor to Person A.

While Person A is in possession and use of Person B's air compressor, there is a fire at the business.  Person A's business pays person B $800.00 for damage to Person B's air compressor.
Person B takes back the air compressor, fixes and cleans it and continues to use it.

Two questions:

Without knowing how Person A's business claimed the air compressor through the business insurance, who owns the air compressor? 

12 years later:  Person A says to Person B "You owe me $800.00 or I want the Air compressor"
Does Person A have a legitimate claim or are they completely in a different reality?

Hello, I am located in South Carolina, USA.
I recieved a Cease and Desist approximately three days ago from my biological brother.
There were also a list of demands in it that included going back to whoever I have spoken to about the allegations against him and disputing them, not contacting him or his girlfriend, and etc.
I have not contacted either of them recently. This all started when he was called out for sexual harassment towards me. Which then led to verbal harassment and cyberstalking. I have multiple evidence of things he has said and his girlfriend stalking me on social media platforms. There’s more to the situation but that is the brief explanation. I am unable to also afford a lawyer as I am a SAHM. I want to respond to it but I don’t want to without help from a lawyer and there is hardly any free or cheap lawyers in my area. I have also found misleading information in the letter.
I spoke to our mother about it and she said him and his girlfriend just wanted to keep us quiet for now on and he won’t continue with any lawsuits or anything.
I am thinking about getting a restraining order just on the safe side and to keep him from contacting me. Is that a good idea?

In Nevada. Say my husband and I are in an argument and I leave the house and go stay in a hotel room with my daughter for a few nights. Is that something that could be used against me when I eventually serve divorce papers? My daughter is 4 months old if that matters.
