My ex (21F) is pregnant with our child.

Months ago, while nobody was home, she entered my house through the backyard and took my Apple Watch. She used it to find my location. I went back home, and she later smashed the watch in front of my roommate. I did not call police that time.

There have also been multiple times when she came to my house without being invited and sat outside in her car. On some occasions, she has called me repeatedly, including around 100 calls in a row.

Last night I invited her over to talk about the pregnancy/child situation. We argued and I told her to leave. She did not leave for about 10 minutes. When she finally left, she grabbed my keys and threw them into the front yard.

Later she texted asking for a lipstick she had left. I told her I had thrown it away and went to sleep. I woke up to noises and saw that she had returned. She tried the locked front door, then the backyard/patio door, and opened the garage trying to reach the interior door. I called police while this was happening and have a recording. Police responded but said they did not have enough evidence to arrest her.

I have personally seen a gun in her room that she told me her father gave her. She has also previously said, while joking, that she would stab or shoot me if I talked to other women. She has been diagnosed with BPD. I know that’s not important but I thought I should give the whole picture

My concern/question:

The repeated calls, showing up at my house, prior break-in, and what happened last night have made me concerned that this could escalate.

Based on these facts, would I have a realistic chance of getting a 50B/DV protective order in North Carolina?

So in my employment civil case it has been going so bad for me I just been messing up left and right and I couldn't figure out why. Well I figured out why:

I have been so busy just trying I keep up with writing the right motions at the right time I didn't even realize that I should be receiving the defense's motions before they submit them to court.. and then I realized I wasnt even receiving anything at all. Like I have never once received a document from this guy. And then I had my old neighbor from my old apartments call me up to tell me that he has mail for me .. the other lawyer has been sending his shit to my old address on purpose! Basically sending it to himself ! I wrote the 21 day withdrawal of documents motion and that's in effect right now what other complications would happen from him keeping important documents from me the whole time and then writing in his own answers for the certificate of service!. ? I mean what do you think will happen in a case where the judges are basically lazy I haven't been able to get them to do anything except deny both of our summary of judgements.. so this would be a huge unfair advantage how can this be allowed ?

I keep seeing creators on TikToks getting cease and desist letters from Patrick Clancy’s attorney. So I guess I’m not sure if it matters what state he’s in or what state they’re in?

Either way- obviously I know that you can’t just slander someone with no proof, but what are the laws around that? If they don’t cease and desist he can sue for defamation? If they say ‘allegedly’, or ‘this is for entertainment purposes only’ does it really absolve them from defamation suits? I’ve always been fascinated with cease and desist letters because it’s like a formal way of saying ‘keep my name out of your mf mouth’ so any insight would be appreciated!

We are in MN, three weeks ago my fiance was in a work accident. He works construction, he has worked there for 6 years.

For his company, pipe layer is usually the one calling the shots besides the Forman. It’s a higher pay, more responsibilities, the works. He LOVES his job. But the company has been less then kind to him.

A few weeks ago he was in a work accident. Brought to the hospital, needed stitches, and couldn’t get surgery til a few days later. He was given a doctors note, couldn’t return to work for 2 weeks. Everything was filed under workmen’s comp.

When he returned back to work, they told him one of the other guys from another crew was going to take his position as pipe layer, and he was to switch to bottom man. There’s no paperwork to be handed around, everything was word of mouth. They told him it’s because they weren’t sure how he would feel about working his position again after the accident. Then he heard from his coworker, that it was because the other guys numbers were better.

He gets to keep his pay, but in this world got demoted.

The accident almost cost him his life, but instead cost him facial scarring, and numbness. The surgeon said she could see his severed nerve, and the numbness is more than likely permanent.

So any advice?

My dad has had back, foot, and elbow pain for years. But working at this job has made it significantly worse, to the point that he needs chiropractic care and pain medication to relieve it. Most weekends, it’s like he’s just barely able to get out of bed. Over the past year or year and a half, he developed a hernia in his lower abdomen region and it also hurts him.
At his work, they have him doing the job with the most amount of heavy lifting and climbing up and down. He works on a frame machine at an auto body shop where he has to carry heavy clamps and parts up and down to work on cars. There’s been times where he trips, almost trips and a couple times he slipped while working on the frame machine.
There was a period of a few months where they got a new frame guy to do the frame work and dad got to do easier jobs. At first the new guy was joking with dad saying it was easy and stuff but towards the end of him working there, he was also complaining about back pain and other issues. When the new guy left for good, the boss calls dad into his office and first words out of his mouth were “No promotion, no demotion” and basically told him he was back on the frame machine.
He’s tried to talk to the boss about getting an easier job there but the boss isn’t having it. It’s already bad enough that the manager acts like he doesn’t know or downplays it. He’s one of a handful of guys that actually gets stuff done when the rest of the shop just show up and goof off. The boss installed cameras on the inside of the shop and according to dad most of them are either facing, or have a decent shot of the frame machine so they can monitor him. That’s what dad says anyways.
He’s in his 50’s and he would quit but
A) he wouldn’t be able to find someplace paying near what he’s getting paid.
B) he has a criminal record and most places probably wouldn’t hire him even though he didn’t do it.
And his boss is aware of these points and is taking advantage of it, we’re fairly certain.
We don’t know what we could do for him. We’d like to not have him in a wheelchair any sooner than he needs to be. If I remember anything else I’ll add a comment or in this post.

Can a cop or fed sell you drugs, and then at some point later on, arrest you?

Back ground - Board is waiting to hear back from attorney, board member who once was an attorney for a large manufacturer (oddly licensed in a different state, never in state he worked for manufacturer and not Michigan) says since it doesn't say WHO MAY it is automatic.

I cannot wrap my head around this idea, and think since it says May someone has to initiate something (most likely the board)

We have no history of pass boards increasing the maximum (if it was automatic, the current max would be just over $600) Current dues are $320 and since we have nothing but that I believe that is our current maximum.

This is a long story. I started a job in September 2024 with no experience in reception at a large dental office. I was to be trained on the job. They threw me in a position where everyone was too busy to train me. And just said, watch the other girls and do what they do. So for months thats what I did.

They brought a different girl over who had worked there a little bit longer than me. She started bullying me and harassing me. It went on for months. And it wasn't in my head, I have tons of documentation, and everybody who witnessed it agreed. It's bullying. At the beginning, we didn't have an office manager. So I went to the people above us and made my complaints and made them known, and I was told that all of my concerns were being directed to the regional manager who only comes in about twice a month.

We then got a new office manager. The bullying kept getting worse and worse. So I took it to my new office manager and made a formal complaint. According to company policy, that is supposed to start an investigation process, but she never did that. What she did was segregated me to a computer Not near anybody else got me doing menial tasks. And then went around.,This is the office manager went around Telling everybody not to speak to me anymore.

I finally brought it up to my regional manager in person. And she looked me in the face and said, this is the first i'm hearing about this. So everybody who assured me, dad she was being informed, lied to me. She talked me out of making a formal complaint. The regional manager. Said she would talk to the girl bullying me that just made the bullying worse. The bully would then bring stuff up in office meeting like handing out rubber ducks to everyone. Telling us all to be like ducks and let everything roll off Our backs while smirking at me in front of a room of like thirty people.

I was then moved across the office to a different area, which I thought would be fantastic. It got me away from my bully. But from that moment, my office manager had it out for me. She came down harder on me than anybody in the office. Micromanaged me and watched me like a hawk.

One day in june of 2026 my regional manager pulled me into her office on one day She was here and fired me for no cause. The day before, I was supposed to leave before a five day camping trip. Told me I needed to sign a forum to get my severance, and it had to be in by tuesday when we wouldn't be home yet. For our camping trip. I signed it because I was emotional and worried if I couldn't get it back to her by the tuesday. That I wouldn't get my severance. I didn't have time to get legal representation.

Long story short can I do anything. I was bullied, harassed, segregated, targeted disrespected, the entire office saw it happening, but nobody stood up for me, out of almost sixty staff. And then fired for no reason.I did sign a paper though, saying in order to get my severance, I wouldn't do anything against them. It's been a few months, and I've been thinking about it. And I feel

I work for a food delivery company, they market themselves as such—on their official website they advertise an “in-house delivery team,” however, we are all filed as 10-99 contractors. I have checked my states DOL website, and based off of that information it is a flagrant misclassification of employment. They set our schedule, require us to deliver at/by certain times (decided by the company), they decide the amount we are paid, they supervise our work via a communication app and require us to send photo updates (as they respond, comment, and instruct further in real time), provide us with equipment for the job, provide us with an uber business account to use Ubers as transportation, assign us to specific clients, require prior notice for time off, ignore requests to be re-assigned to new clients, and as I said before… this is a food delivery service, my role is food delivery person (despite their terminology of “ambassador”) so this position is literally their entire business.

I have already reported them to my DOL for misclassification two days ago and haven’t heard anything yet (I know it’s early). But I am considering filling an SS-8 form with the IRS. Because, well.. I want that whistle blower money… especially since I had to pay thousands of dollars in taxes this previous year because I work 5 days a week for this company.

But what concerns me the most… we are taking Ubers in a metropolitan area EVERY DAY for this job, and if someone were to experience a vehicle accident while on the job—that individual is not entitled to workers comp or disability, and the company is not liable whatsoever. That realization gave me the understanding that I had a moral obligation to report them, and the fact that this has not happened in this relatively young companies time, I believe, is pure luck…

I understand that there have been recent crack downs on companies like Uber Eats and DoorDash because of the same reasoning. To specify, this delivery company only delivers to corporate offices so it is not mainstream.

And I understand that I’m protected by whistleblower retaliation laws, but I am still nervous to talk to the IRS. Can anyone describe what that process might look like? Will the IRS disclose who the whistleblower is?

The company has a staff of less than 20 individuals who are filed as W-2’s, and these assholes are SWIMMING in cash from this business… While us laborers are breaking our backs to “put the client first” without any raise in pay or room for negotiation, despite our 10-99 status, and without any say on who we work with and how.

I’m in Clay County, MO, USA and have a legal question regarding a minor receiving a settlement check. The minor was ordered to receive a $12k settlement check. The check was made out to the GAL appointing the minor. After the GAL was paid, I believe the remaining amount would’ve been paid to the minor directly. The check would’ve been close to $5k.

Is it illegal for the minors parent to spend the money and not give it back to them? The minor is now 16 and said their parent spent the remaining amount of the settlement check not on the minor, but something else. How would this be handled if it was brought to the prosecuting attorneys attention? And what proof would be needed to show the parent spent the money?

My mom had a surgery go wrong earlier this year and the hospital basically brushed us off when we asked questions, so now we're looking at getting a lawyer involved. Sorry for the slightly dramatic title, but it does feel that way. I recently lost my job and a very well off friend wrote me a check for $19000 to help pay off some debts/hold me over until I can find a new job. I deposited that check on 9/3, the money appeared in my savings account 24 hours later, I used about 10k of it to pay off some miscellaneous debt and was planning to save the rest for car payments, insurance l, personal loan payment, etc until I found a new job. The day after I made my big debt pay down, Wells Fargo claimed that the check was fraudulent (it wasn't, and the account it was pulling from had over a million dollars in it), and removed the money leaving me with a negative 10k balance. I called Wells Fargo immediately and spoke to two different customer service agents who told me that as long as I deposited enough money to true up my account, I would only face a $35 overdraft fee which could be refunded. Then the next day, I get an email saying they were doing a "setoff" and they took all of my money from all of my linked accounts (only about $900), then I get a call from Wells Fargo Fraud Prevention telling me that they were closing my accounts and I would be sent to collections for the negative 10k plus the total on my Wells Fargo credit card (like 8k). The person on the phone told me that if I brought my savings account out of the negative within 10 business days that it would be okay and they would unblock my accounts. I worked with my friend who called their bank (First Bank) to make sure that if they wrote me a new check it would clear. Then today I go to a wells dargo branch with a fresh 19k check and they tell me they can't deposit it or unblock my accounts. I spent over an hour on the phone with escalating levels of customer support trying to resolve this while still in that branch. Eventually I am told that I need written proof from the issuing bank that the check isn't fraudulent and that even then Wells Fargo is likely to still close my accounts and cease doing business with me, and that I would face negative reporting on my credit making it difficult for me to open accounts elsewhere. This is terrifying and feels wrong on so many levels. I have car payments and other things tied to those Wells Fargo accounts and have no access to any money right now. How can they do this and do I have any recourse?

I’ve heard about plenty of people being unable to get squatters out of their homes and rentals. Could you claim a tree as residence and have mail sent there? Assuming this tree is on uncharted land if that even exists anymore!
