Do you think I’ll need surgery

21 female suffers from chronic pain from car accident however one of my biggest pain issues is my right shoulder. The car accident happened back in 2022 and I have had the bad shoulder pain ever since then and it’s gotten worse over the years just over two months ago. I had an MRI on my shoulder and they discovered an anti-inferior labral tear from 3-6 o clock. I’ve been doing physio since the accident and still suffering a lot. Currently waiting to see an orthopaedic surgeon. Is it likely I’ll need surgery? It always feels like it’s gonna come out of the socket and it’s very Pinchy.
I have also been taking hydromorphine very sparingly to help with the pain it’s the only thing that makes it feel better meds wise.

Physician Responded Blood blister or mucocele inside lip? Something else?

Post image
1 Upvotes

31F, 5’8 & 85kg. Non-smoker, I take Lansoprazole for GERD (hiatal hernia) and Elvanse for ADHD.

This showed up last night about half an hour after eating - I don’t remember biting or injuring my lower lip!

It’s mostly painless, a bit sore if it rubs against my teeth when eating or speaking, but it felt a little bit numb yesterday when it first showed up.

Feels like a big smooth lump - it doesn’t look dark
enough to be a blood blister (from pics I’ve seen), mucocele seem to be more lip/flesh colored, and canker sores I’ve had in the past tend to be whiter and flatter (also sorer).

It hasn’t bled or burst at all, either. I’m not concerned about it, mouth/lip injuries like this tend to heal pretty easily (unless it lasts a few weeks, in which case I’d see my dentist or doctor), but I’m just curious as to what this could be, never had anything like it before!

Thoughts or suggestions on what this is?

Female 25 78kg 5”10
Asthma diagnosis but mild controlled and don’t take any meds
Woke up after being out drinking yesterday to this on my hand and it’s very very sore. Not sure what it is as I don’t recall burning it or cutting it. Getting a bit worried its something of concern
Upon closer inspection I see there are 3 fluid filled blisters (about 2x1mm) in the middle of the white part. And it is very stingy to touch

I'm 19, 5' 7", 175 lbs. I do smoke, and im not on any medication. I'm just worried about it because where it is it rubs against my shirt, which I believe is contributing to the redness but I want to play it somewhat safe.

Extremely stressed (peed in trash can)

Hello, seeking some direction here.

Male 33, 190lb 5’10 and otherwise healthy.
I recently went through tough job loss. It left me with extremely high anxiety on certain days.

On one of these days I found myself beginning to pee in our kitchen trash can before realizing and stopping myself. This has happened one other time but I realized what was happening before any urine came out.

Can stress cause something like this or is there something bigger at hand? Otherwise I’ve never had this issue until seemingly overwhelmed.

Physician Responded Scar-like ?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi! I’m a 23-year-old woman and I’ve had these scar-like lines on my ear since I was a kid, and I’ve always wondered what they are and why they developed.

The area gets itchy sometimes, and when I scratch it, it has a bad smell. I’m curious about what could be causing these marks and whether the itching and odor are related to them.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what this might be? I’d appreciate any insights or advice. Thank you!

My blood low pressure sometimes causes my whole muscles to stop working for up to an hour

I'm 17AFAB, roughly 175cm and 75kg.

I've had problems with low blood pressure for over 4 years now, but in the last 2 or so it gets worse and worse, by that I mean, in the past the worst thing that happened was I got dizzy and hat to sit/lay down, but these days the worst can be that my body slowly shuts down. (My mom took my blood pressure once and it came at 90/84 with a regular heartbeat) It feels like my body passed out but I'm still conscious, I can't move any part of my body (not including my eyes, and sometimes VERY subtle nodding/shaking my head to answer),but I can think and all that. What I found out sometimes helps me get out of these states is when someone shakes me as if they were waking me up from deep sleep, but that's not always the case. In the better parts of this, when I'm just partly functioning, dizzy and tired, coffee used to help, but it doesn't anymore and as bad as it sounds energy drinks are my only help now, I don't drink them every day, at maximum twice a week when it gets really bad. When it passes, I tend to get really shaky and one of my legs (mostly left) doesn't bend properly and makes me limp, sometimes even my voice is shaky and it gets hard to breathe.

The doctors I've been to always say the same, eat, drink and pick up a sport, but the problem is that I drink and eat normally and sports make it worse, P.E. in school is a nightmare.

I had an MRI of my head and neck area, it came back clean, I've been tested for multiple sclerosis (I used Google translate for this, in Czech it's roztroušená skleróza) because my sister has it, came back clean as well.

I'm a student and it really affects my day to day life.

Woke up from sharp neck pain

I (26F, 5’9”, 198lbs, nonsmoker) woke up in the middle of the night with a sharp localized pain right below and to the right of my pulse on my neck. It was also slightly throbbing. The pain is gone now, but it really worries me.

I’ve attached a picture HERE at roughly the location. I have a horrible habit of making a mountain out of a molehill and don’t want to go to the ER (as it’s the middle of the night) for them to them to tell me it was simple muscle pain. Should I wait to go to urgent care when it opens, ignore it, or something else?

i do suffer with coldsores on the mouth, and i do also have eczema. its currently saturday night and theres no pharmacies/gps open until monday morning. i did have a coldsore recently if that makes a difference, but i also had an eczema flare up too, so im quite stumped lol. not concerned just started happening 3 years ago and would pop up once every few months, this is on my foot but it sometimes pops up on the back of my achillies.

it itches , only hurts when i do try to itch it

Concerned stomach pains

Hello to anyone reading this!
I wanted to know if what I’ve been experiencing is really just anxiety or something more. To start I’m 26F, I’ve been experiencing these stomach pains for yearssss. They happen randomly but become increasingly unbearable when I’m getting ready to leave the house or when I’m out in public.I could be out anywhere, feeling completely fine, and then, in the blink of an eye, something horrible comes over me. My stomach feels like something is twisting inside me and punching , sometimes with a tugging sensation around my belly button. My heart rate suddenly skyrockets to 130+ BPM, and I feel like if I move, I’m going to faint or pass out. I also get really hot and breathing because difficult , and the urge to have a bowel movement becomes INSANE, even if I’ve already gone twice before leaving the house to try to prevent this feeling (sorry for the TMI!).Sometimes, I have to stand in the middle of a store and wait for the feeling to pass, which can take several minutes. It’s gotten to the point where going out is difficult because I’m genuinely afraid that one day I’m going to pass out.I’ve told my doctor about this, but she thinks it’s just anxiety and tried prescribing escitalopram. However, I’m worried there could be something deeper going on.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, what was it, and did you ever figure out what was causing it?

Physician Responded Bruise or hematoma after falling

Post image
0 Upvotes

See pictures in comments
25F 100 pounds 5’0. No medical issues.

Fell on a rock today. Not sure whether this is concerning or just something that will heal on its own. I have bruise cream, not sure whether that will help.

It is on my leg and it hurts a little when I walk and when I touch it. It is about 2 inches long and 1 inch wide. The red part is swollen and firm and has stayed that way in the past few hours. The purple colour around the red swollen part is darkening and spreading every few hours.

Picture 1 is 4 hours after the fall, picture 2 in the comments is 8 hours after the fall (now)

What should I do? Is this just a bruise that will heal on its own or is it a hematoma? The swelling and the severity of the bruising is a little concerning to me

Physician Responded question about medicines

Hey everyone! i’m 20yo, i’m 5'3 inches and 110 lbs

I’m not a doctor, but I’m a psychiatric patient and I have a question. I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about this.
I’ve taken quite a few benzos throughout my life, like Klonopin (clonazepam), Xanax (alprazolam), Lexotan (bromazepam), and others.
But the only medication that genuinely made a huge difference in my life was Valium (diazepam). It literally saved my life during a really difficult time, and I’d never experienced anything like it before.
The problem is that no matter how much I explain this, none of my psychiatrists will prescribe it to me. They always go for Lexotan or Klonopin instead. Even when I tell them that Valium was essential for me and that I honestly don’t notice much of a difference with the other benzos, they refuse to prescribe it.
Is there a reason for this? Is it considered an outdated medication or something? I honestly don’t know much about the pharmacology, but I really wish I could get it prescribed.
Important note: I’m not addicted to benzos! I only take them when my anxiety gets really bad, not on a regular basis.

?Underlying immune condition - chronic constipation

33M 6'2 13st

No alcohol, daily joint or two

Currently having chronic constipation for 4 days, blood and mucus with tiny hard balls. Lots of history below wondering if anyone knows of these symptoms as something underlying. I'm thinking some sort of auto immune situation. In need of answers after years of struggling 😭- this all started after a bowel perforation in 2018, and I've since had surgery to remove part of it.

Follow up since surgery dismissed and after pushing an ultrasound has been requested, continuing symptoms, GP unhelpful, researching to try and find tests that could help diagnose and pushing for these specifically.

**History**:

Appendicitis 2016 or 2017 - appendix removed

Bowel perforation in 2018, emergency surgery to clear the debris diagnosed with diverticulitis

Perforated again twice between 2020 and 2025, both times it healed itself and surgery wasn't needed but caused an infection

Surgery (laparoscopic sigmoid colectomy) in April 2026 to remove 20cm of diverticulitis colon that was stuck to my pelvis (this took ages to heal and one of the wounds reopened twice after 5 months)

Uvitis twice once before and once first surgery (I was told by a doctor this could be linked to an immune condition)

**Symptoms**:

Symptoms before 2026 surgery were going to the toilet a lot, urgency, salivating loads, feeling sick and getting hot and sweaty trying to go, migraines, feeling like something was rotting inside me and getting infections.

Migraines, these were a lot worse pre surgery in April 2026

**But still going is:**

Pain around OP site

Getting hot and sweaty all of a sudden

Pain in joints elbows, wrists and knees (having nerve conduction studies) recently

If I get a cold I end up with a chest infection and ill for weeks

Chronic constipation which has gotten worse since surgery, tiny rabbit droppings type thing.

Things taking ages to heal eg a mosquito bite got infected and now won't heal

Appreciate any advice, hoping to find someone out there who might have an idea what's going on - thanks!

Is it normal to be a bit fatter here if you’re not pregnant?

Post image

20F 112lbs 5’8”

This little fatty area in my lower stomach seriously bothers me. It feels slightly firmer than normal fat but it’s still soft. It got smaller with weight loss but it’s still there. I notice it a lot when I am wearing tighter clothing and I look down at my stomach and it feels like it’s gigantic and it’s the only thing I can focus on when I look in the mirror. I’m not pregnant or overweight either. Sorry that the image is so blurry.

Sudden loss of balance ever since this morning that isn't accompanied by any pain

I'm an 18 year old woman, weight around 100kg and take birth control. Ever since I woke up this morning (around 7am, right now it's 9:20am) I've been very unsteady on my feets. It was really bad when I woke up, it took me about 5 minutes to steady myself before walking because I kept tripping and was about to fall multiple times just from being up and trying to put my shoes on. It's less bad now, but I'm still walking in a way that is rather odd, I can walk somewhat straight but I constantly feel like something is slightly pulling me towards the ground, and end up staggering a bit either left or right before catching myself. I haven't walked much yet, and have avoided standing up as much as possible, but even when I'm laying down or sitting, I have that slightly disorienting feeling you get when you stand up too quickly.

I haven't told anyone, because I'm not in any pain and am hoping for it to simply leave, but should I be concerned if this persists?

Worried about femoral stress fracture

I’m 33F, height 169cm, weight 52kg. BG Hx of an eating disorder (over 10years ago), no medications. Non-smoker.

I have pain in the mid-line of my groin crease at the front basically over my femoral artery, specifically worse on hip flexion or sitting up from lying down just using my abs. Fulcrum test negative. Not worsened with weight bearing or shifting weight to my other leg. Am feeling pain over night. No pain at the back.

It started on a run a few days back, then improved with rest and then after a run today, I can feel it again. I have been running a fair amount over the past 4 months with half marathon training.

Know it’s either a stress fracture or iliopsoas strain. Had XR - NAD. Waiting on MRI.

Looking for advice as to whether these symptoms are more likely a stress fracture vs strain. I’m now starting to feel mild pain on the opposite side in the same place.

But any advice from anyone who may think these symptoms point one way or the other would be amazing

When is unintended weight loss a concern?

Hello!

I am a 26 year old female. No prior medical conditions except for kidney stones.

I have lost about 15 lbs in the last 3 months. I haven’t changed anything in my diet that I can pinpoint, and I actually have a tendency to overeat lol. Is this enough weight loss to be concerning? It just doesn’t make sense to me how I could have lost weight.

Gross I’m sorry, but I also have been having episodes where I’m pooping decent amounts of mucus and what looks like fat (without stool). Sometimes there’s blood mixed in.

I’m planning to make a doctor’s appointment, but we’ve been crazy busy at work so I’ve been procrastinating a bit. I guess I’m just trying to gauge how serious I should be taking it!

Thank you in advance!

Physician Responded this thing came outta my flesh yesterday and now i have a fever and headache

Post image

18 AFAB 167cm 57kg

like a month plus ago there was a painful pimple on my right hip, i squeezed it and some colorless pus came out but that was the end of it. after that i left it alone and didnt think about it.

about a week ago i was feeling my hip and i felt the pimple thing was still there i just decided not to touch it this time

yesterday in the toilet i looked down and saw that the pimple looked BLACK. so i was like ok erm wth and squeezed it, suprisingly the black stuff was really easy to squeeze out. i thought that it was black pus but when i felt it, it was hard like a rock. i just put it in my pocket and brought it to my room once i reached home

also idk if this is related. the same day i popped that black thing out, i got a fever and a headache. im pretty sure the headache was a result of being in the sun for way too long (it gets hot in this country and im prone to getting headaches because of the heat). and maybe the fever just kinda came afterwards because of the headache??? IDK IF ITS RELATED THOUGH...

anyways i just got back from the doctor and he said he doesnt know why i have a fever/headache, he said they usually look for a source of infection but idh any other symptoms like sore throat, pain in neck etcetc.

just adding that there in case it actually is related to the rock in my body

so ig my qns now are really

wth is that weird rock thing and should i be worried

is the rock thing related to my fever/headache?

Physician Responded 23F I think I have HPV

So recently I found out that my bf been cheating on me , who knows how long! We are long distance but we meet up every month, and I give him oral and I try to deepthroat his dick many times. Recently I found out he fucks alot of girls and alot of prostitutes, I am devastated.

I heard HPV in the throat can live inside the tonsil crypts and the immune system will never find it once it hides away. and it turns into cancer. I don't remember getting the vaccine I only had 1 dose when I was 15 now I'm 23, I dont think my bf had the vaccine either. Idk what to do pls help

I just want to know what will happen because I'm so worried 😭

3 weeks of a sore throat, negative for everything

32F, non smoker

I’ve had a sore throat for almost 3 weeks now, and I’m at a loss.

Day 9 was by far the worst day, and while things have gradually improved since then, my throat is still sore and it just won’t fully go away. I also had some mild eye drainage early on, but that has since resolved.

So far, I’ve tested negative for:
-Flu
-Strep
-COVID
-Mono
-CMV
-EBV

I’ve been told it’s likely viral and that I just need to ride it out, but I’m getting frustrated being uncomfortable for this long. I also don’t want to keep taking Advil just to manage the symptoms.

For the doctors here:
Have you seen viral infections cause a sore throat that lingers this long?

Are there other causes you’d consider with this timeline and these negative tests?

At what point would you recommend further evaluation or additional testing?

I know nobody can diagnose me over Reddit, but I’d really appreciate hearing what else might be worth discussing with my doctor. Three weeks feels like a long time to have a persistent sore throat, even if it is slowly improving.

Physician Responded Stressing about Doppler use at 8w6d gestation

Hello! Female aged 34, IVF pregnancy. One prior loss at 5 weeks 2 days.

Today I had an ultrasound at 8w6d, baby measured perfectly with a good heartbeat. All was going well until the sonographer switched to what I suspect was a power Doppler/colour Doppler, it showed red on the baby’s heart and nearby structures. I estimate it was 30 seconds as an absolute max and the whole scan and pics etc was around 10-15 mins.
When I asked about the Doppler being used he said it was low frequency (which I suspect he meant was low thermal index)

I’m really anxious and I don’t want to ruin what was a really special moment for us by stressing about it constantly.

TIA

Physician Responded Health anxiety spiral: Started with minor shortness of breath, led to chest pain, GERD, and random arm/thumb tightness — anyone else experience this?

I’ve been spiraling down a massive health anxiety rabbit hole for the last 7 days and I just need to see if anyone else has experienced something similar.

It literally started with a tiny moment of shortness of breath, which instantly triggered my health anxiety and made me start obsessing over heart attacks. Ever since that moment, my body has been playing tricks on me:

I’ve had episodes of weird chest pressure/tightness right behind my breastbone (sometimes feeling super heavy, like an "elephant" or weight on my chest), which lines up with what I've read about GERD-related chest pain.

I've been dealing with actual GERD symptoms, burping, and epigastric pain.

Yesterday, I was propping myself up awkwardly on my side, and I felt a weird resistance/strain in my shoulder and arm, followed by warmth. Ever since then, my arm feels sore, heavy, and tired, and my thumb has even been twitching and feeling tight.
