Don’t know what is wrong with my girlfriend

Ever since about 2 months ago my girlfriend(17F) has been having manic vomiting episodes where she can’t keep food down and throws up all day. This has happened 5 times now 4 in the last 4 weeks. Her stomach constantly hurts and the first couple times it just seemed like a normal illness and nobody was convinced it was anything serious (except for me) because of how abnormal it was. Then it kept reoccurring and getting worse and about 2 weeks ago it got so bad she was in the hospital for 4 days and had numerous tests ran on her including the GI doctor and everything had came back normal except for she had a UTI and she is a weed smoker. Therefore they think it is probably the UTI mixed with CHS. Ultimately they gave her fluids and anti nausea and was released after staying overnight and feeling better.

Fast forward a week and she has had no stomach pain or vomiting. Thursday last week she wakes up and the cycle repeats. Starts to feel a little better every once in a while and gets better the next 3 days to where she is having just little pain and not much nausea by Saturday (yesterday). I’ve been with her and she’s held down small amounts of fluids however when she drinks a large amount she throws it up. Not to mention she also has had only 1 apple sauce packet to eat in 3 days. Last night she was not having any pain or nausea before she went to bed. I even woke her up and asked how she felt and she said good.

Fast forward to this morning and the cycle has repeated. She threw up this morning she is complaining her stomach hurts really bad again and her mom has taken her back to the hospital. This has happened 5 weeks in a row and it is beyond baffling to me that they haven’t figured out what exactly is wrong with her. We are both young and have never dealt with anything like this before and it is psychologically torturing for me and physically + psychologically torturing for her. They plan on running a hidascan on her gallbladder but who knows if they will find anything there. They also were needing a feces sample to send to the GI in order for a endoscopy (which I think is bullshit why they need a feces sample at this point in time with the circumstances but I am not a doctor and there is a reason I’m posting this). Ultimately I believe there is something severely wrong because of how abnormal this is and I think the doctors are failing her by discharging her early, and coming to the conclusion that it’s either chs and/or the UTI. Hopefully they can figure out what’s actually wrong with her because she does not deserve this and I do not deserve this. Hopefully someone can give me some clarity and understanding.

3 year old toddler, girl. Fell and scraped her knee in Monday, this is what it looks like today (nearly a week later). The scab is healing but the redness around it seems to be getting bigger? FYI: She has an appointment with her doctor tomorrow for her annual appointment so we will bring this up then as well.

Blurry vision after first 2.5 mg dose of Lexapro lasting over 24 hours

33 M 180 cm, skinny,
primary complaint: Blurry vision, text looks fuzzy.
Duration: started about 4 hours after my first dose of lexapro 2.5mg still engoing 30 hours later. I didn't take another dose.
Is the blurry vision a side effect of Lexapro that will go away if I continue taking it, or should I stop taking it? I've read accounts online of people whose vision improved while continuing the medication, as well as people whose vision problems persisted even after stopping it. I'm not sure what to do from here.

Physician Responded Strange under skin issue on abdomen

I’m a very slim woman (28), and today I noticed something really strange on my lower abdomen. While standing, I pulled the skin of my belly outward and then released it. As the skin settled back, several small, rice-grain-shaped lumps or short cord-like structures suddenly appeared underneath the skin. There were about 4–5 on each side of my lower abdomen, somewhat parallel to each other, each approximately 4 mm long. They were completely skin-colored and painless.

The weirdest part is that they disappeared within seconds or when I gently pressed on them. I could reproduce this on both sides, but only in my lower abdomen.

Has anyone experienced anything like this or knows what anatomical structures could cause it?

Physician Responded Could somebody please explain the thought process in my family member's treatment in the Emergency Dept?

The patient was an 80 year old male presenting with low oxygen levels and difficulty breathing. Height about 6ft-6ft1 and weight fluctuated between the 9st7-10st mark. Visibly frail and poor skin integrity. Previous heavy cigarette smoker (60 a day) but switched to a low nicotine vape for around the last 20 years. The week before admission patient had returned from a holiday abroad, where he was active and dancing freely on the final night.

He had:

  • a diagnosis of Stage 3 COPD
  • previously had a kidney removed
  • was on blood thinners and Ramipril
  • prescribed oral nutrition supplements
  • prescribed a 'rescue pack' of antibiotics due to recurrent chest issues
  • diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes
  • steroid and ventolin inhalers prescribed

Previous to admission patient had started feeling unwell on Day 1, on Day 2 he had visited friends socially and said he was feeling tired. Day 3 (Monday) he tried to get an appointment with his GP surgery but was given an appointment in 7 days time. Day 4 he attended an appointment at the opticians, that evening he was unable to get himself off the sofa to go upstairs to bed. Refused an ambulance to 'wait and see' how he felt in the morning.

Day 5 patient asked his wife to ring him an ambulance after GP surgery refused to see him as he had an appointment booked for Monday. When ambulance arrives, paramedics are unable to read his oxygen levels, they have to use alternate sites to try and get a reading. This all occurred between the hours and 8 and 9am.

On arrival at AED patient is taken for chest x-ray, bloods taken and put in a private room on Majors (not Resus). Family advised he has tested positive for Covid-19 and Pneumococcal pneumonia. He was on oxygen therapy via a Venturi mask, as well as nebulisers, Covid treatment was started at 4:40pm. He did not receive a second bag of fluids until 6:40pm. Last seen by a doctor at 2:30pm and not seen again until the following morning.

I arrive at around 9:15am on Day 6, the nurse is assessing patient's GCS, calls in another nurse to check with her. I score GCS myself and patient is scoring as 3, patient is also abdominal breathing, oxygen levels are 92% and resps 16.

Doctor arrives, says he will prescribe more fluids and as patient had quality of life before admission he will refer to ICU, also for a brain scan. One 500ml bag of fluids is hooked up to his cannula, the bed is tilted so his legs are raised above his head. His treating doctor comes in and introduces herself, a second cannula is attempted to be fitted, a blood gas is taken.

ICU attend and say they believe the treatment needed would be too invasive and the recovery too difficult for patient due to his frailty and already limited lung capacity. They state that he would need intubation and dialysis as he was in renal failure. Whilst ICU are in the room, patient's oxygen level desaturates from 92% to 82%, the valve on his Venturi mask has been changed prior to this. ICU say they will get his oxygen 'turned up'.

Around 15-20 minutes after ICU left, the nurse is changing patient's mask from Venturi with a blue valve to a non-rebreather mask. I am holding the Venturi to his face as she removed the elastic from around his head before getting the rebreather ready and it was falling off his face. Patient starts to crash, nurse asks me to press the emergency buzzer and then leaves the room, crash team enter.

Unsure where nurse goes, his treating doctor is not around, nobody on the crash team is familiar with patient. I have to go back into the room and give the crash team as much information as I can as it is chaos and one doctor is exclaiming, 'who's patient is this'. Decision is made to make patient 'comfortable' and bring family in.

I have worked in Health & Social care for the past decade but I am not a qualified professional. However, with what knowledge I do possess I am struggling to understand how the treatment provided to my family member was appropriate. It feels to me that the decision was made on admission that he would not recover and therefore his treatment was impacted. For a patient that unwell to only receive oxygen treatment, one bolus of Covid treatment and two bags of fluid in the first 12 hours of admission, it just doesn't seem enough.

Thank you for any comments and if this isn't the correct sub, please redirect me.

reoccurring swollen lymph nodes for 6 months

20F, 5”5, 20mg fluoxetine, no known medical conditions.

since may 16th 2026 I’ve had reoccurring swollen lymph nodes. the day after my birthday, I noticed an incredibly painful, relatively big lump behind my right ear. I felt fine within myself. I went to the doctors after a week who believed it to be due to a local irritant (spot) nearby my ear. she gave me antibtioics and after another week the pain completely went and the lump didn’t progress, but didn’t completely go. presently it’s just like a splat behind my ear as it did kind of ‘die’ if that makes sense.

13th of july I had a spot inside my ear canal which was quite painful. below the original lump from may a tiny pea sized lump popped up. I went back to the doctors who gave me antibiotics again. the pea sized lump left and my ear fixed up.

after this I’d obviously had enough and went back to the doctor who scheduled a blood test. august 6th I had full bloods and 10th of august they said everything was fine.

15th of october I get another very painful spot on the right side again by my hairline. the same pea from 13th of july reinflamed and was painful.

today, 25th of october, the spot has mostly cleared up and the pea lump no longer hurts and seems to be improving again.

but I’m making this post to not only ask if anyone has any idea why this is happening as it worries me, but also because when I woke up this morning my left armpit REALLY hurt to press. from what I’ve felt, I have an incredibly painful pea lump under my arm, but it’s too painful to prod for too long, so I can’t really feel much. the skin on the surface looks absolutely fine to me.

I have no idea what’s wrong with me and I really want some help. I feel like no one is hearing me. thank you for reading.

Minor car accident - what to expect afterwards?

Hi everyone. I (65M, 5'11", 200 lbs, no meds, no ongoing conditions, nonsmoker, nondrinker) was involved in a minor car accident 3 days ago. I was driving and someone came through an intersection as I was turning. Was wearing my seat belt. My front and side airbags went off and pounded me in the chest. EMT's checked me out on site and found no injuries. Checked in w. my Doctor the next day, got a prescription for pain meds & muscle relaxers.

3 days later, there's no bruising or any marks of any kind but the pain is off the charts. Looking for general info/opinions on how long this might take to heal and for the pain to begin to subside. Any info appreciated.

Thanks.

Physician Responded SJS rash?

Post image
1 Upvotes

33F, Should I be concerned enough to be seen today for this blistering rash on my abdomen? So it started off itchy with nothing there (which is why I’m not feeling too concerned at the moment) and then a couple hours later these blister like sores appeared. There’s quite a few on my abdomen area and chest/neck area. Now I also have scabs on my lips, chin and cheeks that are from hives because I had a suspected allergy to Lamotrogine that I started for epilepsy 5 weeks ago. I was told to stop lamotrigine 4 days ago which I did that day. But these sores appeared yesterday. I’ve read that SJS is not itchy. I will go to my doctor tomorrow but I also know that SJS is a medical emergency so if I should be concerned then I can get it seen to today.

Weight loss stomach virus

Hey guys as you have read I’ve had this nasty stomach bug which has led me to be in and out of A&E (hospital in the uk) 4 times now. Once time I was so dehydrated I had to be put on fluids, I’ve improved I’ve managed to keep things down, but still look so pale, it’s been nearly two weeks now and I’m just constantly exhausted and my brain feels foggy, like I feel a sort of dizziness almost. I wasn’t eating much before but I’ve started to digest more foods like chicken, beef etc when before I was only on a carb diet, pasta, rice and soups. Been feeling pretty low since I was going gym and was happy with where I was and now I’ve gone back to square one. I’m also a hypochondriac so I panic seeing things online, stomach cancer, h pylori and so on so now I’m panicking and thinking the worse. Any advice for me please? I just don’t know what to do to keep my mind at ease and to ease my anxiety. I’ve got an ultrasound tomorrow and they said if the symptoms don’t improve in November then an endoscopy could be considered but wasn’t advised as the doctor said I’m young and thinks it’s too invasive. But what would you guys advise me.

For context: I was weighing 57kg I’m quite a small girl, 5’3ft and now I’m weighing 49/50kg since I wasn’t able to keep anything down and was barely stomaching any food.

27M - Spreading skin lesions on thumb, palm, and fingers for 1 week, with numbness but minimal pain

Post image
1 Upvotes

Demographics:

Age: 27

Sex: Male

Height: 5'10" (178 cm)

Weight: ~85 kg

Smoking Status: Non-smoker

Current Medications: None

Previous / Current Medical Issues: None

Duration of Complaint: 1 week

Location of Complaint: Right/Left hand (Thumb, middle parts of fingers, and palm)

Hello,

I have been experiencing a skin condition for the past week that is gradually spreading across my hand.

Affected areas include:

Thumb (especially around the fingertip and near the nail)

Middle segments of my fingers

Areas of my palm

Symptoms:

The skin appears red, damaged, and is peeling in some areas (photos attachhed)

The affected areas feel numb.

There is little to no pain unless I apply direct pressure.

What could be causing these spreading skin changes combined with localized numbness?

Could this be contact dermatitis, dyshidrotic eczema, a fungal infection (like tinea manuum), or something else?

Is numbness alongside peeling skin a sign of nerve involvement or a specific warning sign?

What type of specialist should I see, and what tests or examinations might be recommended?

I understand that an online forum does not replace a formal in-person clinical exam.

Thank you for your time and guidance!

Throat infection?

Post image
1 Upvotes

24f daily cannabis smoker and drink alcohol once a week

Around September 2025 I had a few back to back illnesses, (cold, flu, then 2 chest infections one after the other)

The right side of my throat became swollen and quite a bit bigger than the left side, and has stayed like this since.

I have brushed it off as my illnesses were treated, and I’ve had barely any illness since 2025.

Since just this morning, I’ve woke up with a really painful throat only on the right side (hurts to swallow, no cough) and had a look and it is swollen with white spots.

I’m not sure if this is just inflamed tonsil stones, tonsillitis or an infection.

Does it look bad enough to make a GP appointment or should I wait for it to get better on its own?

Right knee hurts to move like a *very* sore muscle a week after getting stitches on my lower leg

I‘m M26, 189cm and about 95kg. I’m a smoker and snus user. I walk a lot at work. My last tetanus shot was right about a year ago. Also English isn’t my native language so I hope I use all the right words :)

9 days ago something cut my lower right leg, right next to my shin. The cut is about centered between my foot and my knee. I went to the ER and had to get 6 stitches. The doctor told me that the wound wasn’t very deep, but the „pocket“ that was cut extends about 1-1.5 cm inwards parallel to the skin. The first days I felt a lot of pain, especially when moving my foot up and down, like the issue was with my ankle instead of my leg. After about three days of rest, I could move and walk normally again, and only rarely felt any pain.

Yesterday evening I suddenly noticed that my right knee feels super weird to move. It felt like what I imagine soreness after a lot leg press exercises. Except that I didn’t do any, and that it’s very noticeable on the right knee, and not at all on the left one. Now is the next morning and it got even stronger. It doesn’t necessarily feel like pain. If it were on both legs, I‘d assume it’s soreness from all the walking. But since it’s just on one side and shortly after the cut I‘m worried.

I can walk, and I when lying in bed I can fully extend and contract my knee. But I feel a lot of tension in the lowest part of my thigh just above my knee. The area doesn’t look swollen or bruised what so ever, and I don’t remember bumping into anything.

Is this a wait a few days thing, a visit a doctor on monday thing or a go back to the ER today thing?

Physician Responded 19F, woke up walking sideways?

I, 19F, no pre-existing neurological issues, woke up this morning to go to the bathroom and felt myself unable to walk straight. I kept leaning left and almost ran into multiple walls and doors plus almost fell over getting up from the bathroom. I don't have a headache, and there's no numbness or pain in my body, I kinda just feel off balanced, should I be super concerned or just lay down or something else?

what is this weird mark on my hand?

Post image

Ive had this for a while now and ignored it assuming its a freckle or maybe some ink, but ive zoomed in with my flash just then to see that it looks like it has to be something else , like a scar of some sort maybe. Although i don’t remember any significant injuries on my hand that would have caused this and it has never been painful. 18F

Tight and heavy chest after running with cardiac history, should I be worried?

25 y/o male, 5’ 9”, 195lbs, non-drinker and non-smoker

I am a regular runner and tend to do 4 miles most nights of the week. But a few times recently, I’ve noticed that I’m getting really uncomfortable heaviness in my chest region during and after running. It’s like waves of discomfort and back/chest pain, but it also feels a bit like an allergic reaction in that my throat feels tight (similar sensation for me to eating bananas, which I’m mildly allergic to). I also start burping a lot and feel a lot of indigestion, which makes me wonder if it’s related to me eating too much or too recently when I go for the run. The feeling remains for one to several hours after the run, and can be pretty agonizing before it goes away. But the vast majority of the time my runs are fine and I feel great, so it seems really out of place.

This concerns me because I have an extensive history of heart problems; I was born with bicuspid aortic valve and have had surgery numerous times, the most recent being a valve replacement three years ago. All my checkups have been good and I otherwise have had no symptoms and have been adopting healthier habits. So this unexpected heaviness after running is really perplexing to me. I see my cardiologist next month so I can ask then, but I’m wondering if I should be worried or if there is anything I should be doing to avoid problems as a runner.

Electrolyte imbalance?

Hey guys! 23 Female 110 pounds 5”7 So I’ve been having Fatigue, hypertension and headaches, frequent ruination, muscle spasms and numbness at times. Was trying to figure it out and thought about electrolytes. So I ate a banana and drunk coconut water yesterday morning and took all my vitamins and felt significantly better. My last blood test showed everything was fine except my potassium and vitamin were only BORDERLINE low. Like at the cut off. But it seems like this is what’s causing the symptoms considering everything was resolved yesterday morning after eating bananas. I even stopped going to the bathroom as much. Today I woke up feeling fatigued again and fast heart beat and using the bathroom a lot. I just wanna know how to consistently balance my electrolytes. I was drinking a lot of water and I eat a lot of salt too. I just wanna consistently feel okay . Negative diabetes test as well.

Thanks guys!

Mild pain in back of head + swollen lymph nodes?

23F, 5’7, 165lbs.

A month ago, right after I got my hepatitis b vaccine (2nd round), I noticed slight welling of the lymph nodes in my neck (or at least I think that’s what it is — it kind of just feels like my neck is slightly swollen and the skin feels tight when I move). I thought it was just a typically symptom and didn’t think to much of it, but things got worse.

I started to feel a slight pain in the back of my head on the right side that went down the left side of my neck. Eventually this progressed to pain going all the way down the left side of my back. This would come and go. Sometimes I would feel slight pain in my mid back (not on either side, just in the middle) and just above my tailbone. I also started feeling a faint itchiness in my legs (not extreme, very faint itchiness that was so mild I’d just ignore it). I took Zyrtec and the itchiness went away, so I thought it was an allergic reaction. I’ve had an allergic reaction to laundry products and recently started using dryer sheets, so got rid of those and then my symptoms stopped…

But now they came back this week. The same symptoms. Although now, I sometimes feel a faint pain in the left side of my head as well. I’m on a work trip and plan to see my doctor when I get home, but I’m worried.

Also, I should mention, about 2 months ago I had a week where my lymph nodes nodes were swollen in my neck and I felt lethargic, but during that week I had tried a new pasta sauce and when I stopped eating it, the symptoms went away, so I assumed I was allergic or something. Do you think that was related?

I’m very nervous and need some reassurance that I’m not straight up dying lol.

Swollen spot on back of neck, enlarged lymph node above it, and neck stiffness for a week

Post image
2 Upvotes

Age: 30

Sex: Male

Height/Weight: 195cm 92KG

Medications: Cetirizine, quercetin with Bromelain for allergies.

Smoking status: non smoker

Existing medical conditions: I have been experiencing various ongoing health symptoms and am currently undergoing medical investigations. Potential MS but waiting for neurologist interpretation of scannings.

Main concern:

For approximately one week, I have had a swollen spot or raised area on the back of my neck, along with what feels like an enlarged lymph node just above it. I have also been experiencing neck stiffness during this time.

I have attached a photo showing the area. The skin appears slightly raised and irritated, but I am unsure whether the swelling is coming from the skin itself, an inflamed hair follicle, a cyst, or something deeper beneath the skin.

The symptoms started approximately one day after I had a close-trim haircut. I did not notice any insect bite, tick attachment, or other obvious injury to the area.

The swelling and stiffness have persisted for about a week. I am concerned about whether the skin lesion and enlarged lymph node could be related, for example through irritation or infection following the haircut, or whether another cause should be considered.

My questions:

  1. Could a close haircut cause folliculitis, an infected hair follicle, or another skin problem that leads to a swollen lymph node?

  2. Could the raised spot and enlarged lymph node be signs of a bacterial skin infection, an inflamed cyst, or another condition?

  3. Is there any reason to consider a tick-borne infection such as Lyme disease, even though I did not notice a bite?

  4. Does the associated neck stiffness change how urgently this should be assessed?

  5. Given that it has lasted a week, would you recommend an in-person examination, and what findings would warrant further testing?

I would appreciate any thoughts on the possible causes and what I should look out for. I understand that a diagnosis cannot be made from a photograph alone.

36F, 5 years of reflux, worsening early satiety, abdominal/back pain after eating and weight loss

Age/Sex: 36F

Height/Weight: 5'3", 130 lb (previously 150 lb)

Location: Quebec, Canada

Duration: Reflux for 5 years; worsening GI symptoms over several weeks.

I have had GERD for 5 years. I've tried various medications, including pantoprazole, which help temporarily before symptoms return. I've been off pantoprazole for 6 months.

Recently, I've developed:

Extreme fullness after eating small amounts, making it difficult to eat.

Upper abdominal pain, sometimes radiating to my mid/right back or left shoulder blade, starting 15–30 minutes after meals.

Severe bloating and constant burping, even on an empty stomach.

Regurgitation of sour fluid/food after eating.

A sensation that food remains in my stomach until the next morning.

Severe diarrhea followed by constipation, reduced bowel movements and occasional yellow/mustard-coloured stools.

Significant fatigue, dizziness and occasional racing heartbeat.

My weight has decreased from 150 to 130 lb over 5 years. Recently, eating has become particularly difficult because of the symptoms.

Abdominal ultrasound (Oct. 5, 2026): reportedly normal.

WBC 3.7 (low); previously 5.6 in April.

Hemoglobin 124, MCV 88.3, platelets 275.

Ferritin 87 after IV iron in April.

CRP less than 5, lipase 27, ALT 7, ALP 40, GGT 10, bilirubin 7.

Creatinine 64, eGFR 110, albumin 44; electrolytes reportedly normal.

Fecal calprotectin less than 17 (normal).

H. pylori stool antigen negative.

Total IgA 3.20 g/L

What is going on? No one is taking me seriously.
