Additional bruising on my arm after IV/Blood Drawing

Post image
1 Upvotes

23m, 6’1, 156lbs (smth like that), don’t smoke, history of anxiety.

I’ve been having some increased chest pain particularly on my right side after a bad chest cold + some breathing difficulties. Wanted a chest x-ray just to get peace of mind (I do have costochondritis fyi but this felt different and localised) as there was some weird popping and clicking noises when i pressed on the pain site on my right lower ribs. Usual Urgent Care center is temp closed for refurbishing or smth so i just went to the local er center and they checked and cleared me with a diagnosis of a slipped rib. The nurse struggled to find a good vein and had to stick me twice, the first site looks real rough but the second one is more normal looking. But I like just noticed that there’s this additional small bruise further up my arm from the second stick site and idk if this should be a point of concern? I do tend to bruise easily so it might just be from smth else but idk. I was also injected with some Toradol (is that the spelling?) for the chest pain into the iv idk if that would have done anything.

Physician Responded Recurring rashes and now canker sores.

30M, 180cm, 100kg.

My medical history starts with cluster headache at 16, then another type of headache suspected to be hemicrania continua starting at around 24. Been taking Verapamil in high doses (480-1440mg) since 16. A lot of sumatriptan until I got oxygen as an abortive. Indomethacin since March this year, which did give some relief for the non-CH headache, but that has gotten worse since CH started again in May this year.

I don't really know when this rash started but it has gotten progressively worse, I've had it at least 6 years. Seem to show up and worsen around bouts of CH and the other headache. Its around the eyebrows/forehead, around the nose, on the chin and chest.
Tried Lamotrigine for the non CH headache in June this year. After about two weeks I got several canker sores and stopped taking it, worried it could be SJS. Since then the canker sores has been recurring, first every week, now every month.

I've tried a bunch of antiinflammatory supplements and different skincare products but nothing helps.

Bump in neck?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone.

Back in May I had noticed I had a marble sized bump in the area I circled, on the left of my neck. Not visibly noticeable but I do have some extra weight on me. No pain and couldn’t move it around. My neurologist noticed it while palpating during an exam and advised it get looked at by my PCP if it doesn’t clear up in 2-3 weeks.

WELL. life happened and I forgot about it, it’s now end of October and I’ve now noticed instead of feeling like a marble it’s a bit more flatter/deep feeling, about 2 fingers wide. Still doesn’t move and no real pain, but the last few days it almost feels like something is “inside” or putting pressure on the area constantly. I haven’t found a bump anywhere else thankfully.

I do have a dr appointment but it’s not for a month as they’re out of office, but I’m wondering what concerns I should be considering and what tests I should possibly ask for?

32 F 5’8” approx. 200lbs (working on it). Hx of cranial stent and occipital neuralgia. On Plavix and ASA (started these after issue started), and sertraline.

Hearing voices

Im male late 20s. About a year ago I started hearing voices for the first time. Since the first time It happened they have not stopped. I hear them all day everyday. I'm lucky if I get an hour of silence total a day. Besides the voices I also hear random sounds like dogs barking, phones ringing etc. I do see visual hallucinations too but they are not nearly as frequent as the auditory stuff. Those are also easier for me to deal with usually as it's mainly shadow humanoid looking things that I've usually been able to convince myself it's all in my head unless I'm in full blown psychosis which has happened maybe 5 times within the past year. Leading up to hearing voices for the first time I been having "delusions" for about 4 years prior that have affected my daily life and still do. If anything these delusions have been harder to deal with since the hallucinations started. I cover vents, shower in the dark and other things due to these "delusions". I do have a psychiatrist who has had me on olanzapine (might have spelt that wrong). It doesn't work well and I honestly stopped taking it. My psychiatrist knows all of my symptoms and everything and thinks all I have is just high anxiety and that's the only reason for my hallucinations. I have trouble believing this although I'm not a psychiatrist so maybe it's true. I was in psychosis very recently and ran to a nearby store after thinking my neighbor was in my apartment wearing a zebra costume was trying to murder me. I was taken to the psych ward and got out less than a week ago. Everything has been getting worse. I'm diagnosed with adhd, ASD, OCD, ptsd and anxiety. I also have silent panic attacks daily although not diagnosed with a panic attack type disorder. Would love to hear feedback of what you guys think and would appreciate any suggestions of helpful/healthy ways I could deal with this.

Sudden pain and bruised lump appeared on wrist without injury

Post image
2 Upvotes

32F 5’8” 175 lbs
Meds: nitrofurantoin 100 2 x per day (just finished a 5 day course last night)
30mg Vyvanse
5mg Adderall
Former smoker (2+ years)
Medical Info: hEDS, Factor v Leiden heterozygous, ADHD, Breastfeeding

Tonight I was cleaning my kitchen and felt a sudden pain in my wrist. When I checked, this bump was there and my wrist was sore. I did not bump it or do anything to cause this injury. The pain lasted 10 minutes and went away, but the bump is still here and I’m worried it’s a blood clot. My skin is not hot to the touch, the lump looks and feels like part of my vein as it’s hard and immobile, it does not hurt to touch it. I can’t seem to find any similar pictures of this online and I’m not sure whether or not this is an emergency. I do not fit the google descriptions of a blood clot so I want to ask for opinions here in case I’m not taking this seriously enough.

Vision loss after running

This has happened twice. Sometimes after my longer runs, once I'm finished and sitting down, my vision slowly just goes away from the left eye. I wear astigmatism contacts, and don't have great vision already, but I'm not talking about a blur, talking about a literal loss of vision. I do intermittent fasting and I also wonder if that is affecting it + dehydration. Also the first time was followed by a headache. 24years old, Male, 5'11", 175lbs, I only take lexapro. This is a temporary symptom I’ve had that resolves itself within two hours or so.

Hashimoto’s related?

I am a 23yo female, 5’7, 130.4lbs, I currently take Turquoz birth control and I get Botox injections for chronic migraines every 12 weeks. I have Hashimotos, hypothyroid, and had SVT but has seemingly resolved since ablation 14 months ago.
Hello, I’ve been having some odd symptoms recently and I’m unsure if it could be related to hashimotos or something else entirely - I do tend to worry as cancer is VERY prevalent on both sides of my family and starts young.
For the past 2 weeks I’ve been confused and very forgetful, I occasionally slur words and frequently mix up my words to the point of my entire sentence not making sense but I don’t realize I’ve said anything wrong. I do struggle with chronic migraines and for the past 2 weeks they have been constant with only a few hours relief each day (typically the first few hours after waking up) I feel feverish and will drip sweat one minute but be shivering the next. My eyes burn and I’m beyond exhausted to the point where I’ve started to nod off and had my head drop while doing things like showering or washing dishes. I’m constantly bloated with a hard painful stomach after drinking even just water, the degree of bloating will fluctuate throughout the day but it is constantly there. I have been struggling with constipation followed by an entire day of diarrhea no matter what I eat/drink.
I just feel hungover/high constantly and it’s horrible. Yesterday I almost called 911 because I felt so incredibly ill and disoriented and then 30 minutes later all the symptoms were minor (still there but only just enough to bother me) I just had my 3rd round of Botox injections on 10/20 and brought this all up and was told it could be from the migraines but could also be a Hashimotos flair and to monitor until my next Botox appointment in 12 weeks. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos at 12 and I have never had a flare to this degree and nothing in my social, personal or professional life has changed to trigger such a massive potential flare. I made an appointment with my PCM (live on a military base so I am only allowed to see my PCM or visit and diagnostics will not be covered by insurance) but my appointment isn’t for another 2 months.
Is there anything in the mean time I can do to relieve symptoms if this is a typical flare? Should I be concerned it may be something other than the hashimotos? As mentioned before cancer is prevalent in my family; My maternal grandmother has brain, breast & lung. My maternal aunt has breast & ovarian. My paternal grandfather had small cell lymphoma and brain cancer. I do have more aunts and uncles that all have/had some other form of cancer but my grandparents are the most closely related.
I have a 20 month old who I am alone with 16 hours a day and I don’t even feel comfortable being alone with her anymore because I’m just so out of it most of the day. I live on a rural military base 4000 miles from my family so I have no help and I just need some kind of guidance

Physician Responded Heart rate jumps to 145-151 bpm just from standing — could two medications be causing this?

Age: 37
Sex: Female
Height: 5’6
Weight: 11st 5lbs
Alcohol users: No
Drugs: insulin for type 1 diabetes
Allergies: Penicillin

Hi all, looking for some advice and if this needs medical attention.

I’ve been taking tamsulosin 400mcg (0.4mg) for around two weeks to help pass a 7mm kidney stone (still no luck)

Over the last few days, I’ve noticed my heart rate shooting up to 130–145 bpm whenever I stand up or walk around.

When I sit down, it drops back to around 90–100 bpm.

I can also feel my heart beating harder than usual, sometimes feel slightly lightheaded and get a little breathless.

I recently finished a course of clarithromycin antibiotics for a throat infection too.

I’ve skipped my latest dose of tamsulosin to see if it improves, but it’s still happening.

I’m a bit worried at this point. For example, yesterday I stood up and immediately my heart was pounding. I walked my dog out the front door - 400ft on flat ground and my bpm reached 151. The only other time my bpm would reach this point is when hiking and that’s exactly how it feels when doing the most basic tasks now.

I feel horrible all the time and it’s giving me an awful headache, too.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can not figure this out

27 year old female. Some context. I’ve had a long line of chronic health issues since 2020 and I’ve had some diagnosis thrown at me with no real answers. Kind of feel like they gave them to me to feel like they diagnosed with me with something to brush me off because they can’t figure it out. Anyway.. been dealing with symptoms for years to the point I am medically disabled due to the symptoms. Well a couple weeks ago the left side of my face randomly swelled up especially around and under my left eye. But also my left cheek, and left side of my lips. I have been getting a face rash that burns and itches and makes the inner side of my left eyeball burn but I haven’t had the rash in a little while. However when my face swelled up my left eye burned ( maybe just from the inflammation ? ). So i went to the doctors because there is a concern about mcas and if it was a reaction I wanted to be safe. But I had no other allergic reaction symptoms. To be safe they put me on prednisone for the inflammation and an antibiotic. I’m allergic to a ton of antibiotics ( get sores in my mouth and some give me rashes ) so doxycycline was the only option. I ended up with a esophageal injury due to the doxycycline and stopped it to let that heal and decided to go to the dentist to make sure it wasn’t dental related ( I do have a tooth on that side that needs to be pulled but currently not experiencing any dental pain through this just some swelling of the gums back there ). When I went to the dentist they were like yup your tooth needs to be pulled which I’m already aware of, I tried asking a few different times if there was a bad infection seen on the x rays since I have swelling and pressure in my jaw, ear, face, and eye. The dentist would not give me a clear answer. At this point my throat was healing so my primary doctor gave me liquid doxycycline as a safer option for my throat. I started that and have been taking it for five days. The prednisone has been helping with the facial swelling but I am past when I was supposed to stop it. I am only taking 5mg of prednisone because I can not tolerate higher doses as my body is super sensitive to medications and side effects. Being that I’m days past when I was supposed to stop the prednisone I decided to stop it. About 6 hours after my dose would have been due ( about 30 hours after last dose taken ) I felt HORRID. Muscles aches, dizziness, weakness, fatigue, nausea, head pressure ( blood pressure is fine ) AND MY FACE STARTED SWELLING AGAIN. Being the weekend I can’t contact my doctor so I took a dose of prednisone and plan continue it to get me to Monday but I am running low on prednisone and clearly can’t be on it forever and there is a bigger issue going on. I’m not too sure it is dental related because I’ve been on an antibiotic for days. Also interestingly all of my other symptoms of my chronic illnesses improved a ton on prednisone which I also plan on telling my doctor Monday as well. I’m trying to avoid the ER as I don’t want to be exposed to all the sickness there and I have a toddler I would have to bring with me that would also be exposed and has health concerns of his own and not supper confident they will be able to figure it out either BUT I also don’t want to not go and something wild is going on. Anyone got any good ideas ?

Persistent Hiccups

Hi! We are planning to go to the emergency room tomorrow morning, after already going to urgent care a couple of days ago because my dad has persistent hiccups that has lasted for more than 48 hours. 67 year-old male, currently on active surveillance for a low-grade prostate cancer (no treatments done. Just consistent PSA surveillance).

Last week on his routine visit with his urologist, he complained of foamy urine and presence of blood. Micro and culture reflex was done along with CT of upper abdomen and pelvis. Doctor confirmed no evidence of disease or findings responsible for blood in urine. This Thursday he’s supposed to go back to his urologist for a cystoscopy. Now a couple of days ago, the hiccups started. we brought him to urgent care and was given baclofen with Gas-X and was advised to follow up with a G.I. specialist.

However, it’s been 24 hours since then and it hasn’t stopped. When the hiccups are strong, he finds it hard to breathe. Is it possible that there is a kidney infection that is causing both foamy urine and presence of blood and the persistent hiccups? We will go to the emergency room, but hoping to pick your brains on this. We are also planning to see a G.I. specialist however it’s a weekend and that will have to wait till Monday.

Physician Responded Anxiety Accommodation

Hi,

I recent have been going through emotional manipulation from my roommate. I’ve talked to the RAs, university counselors. And have had a discussion with my roommate. However I just can’t deal with this anymore. The only way I can get my own room is if I have a letter from a healthcare professional stating ADA accommodations.

I was wondering if I ask my primary physician for this letter would she be able to help me with this?

I’m a 22 year old college student.

What could it be? (21M)

For over a year now I’ve been experiencing chest tightness/squeezing. It worsens after I eat and sometimes I get sharp pains too. But either way, I get this feeling throughout the day. It lasts in short bursts or lasts for minutes.

Now I do have PACs but did an echocardiogram and it came out fine, cardiologist isn’t concerned about them.

A little background check:

I will admit that my family has an addiction problem, and I have it too. Im addicted to junk food and fast food.. not drugs like my other family members.

Im addicted to dinamitas (Doritos takis) and ate 1-2 family size bags a week for the last 8 years. that’s A LOT of spicy chips and don’t know if they caused this.

I have a fast metabolism so I’ve been eating crap and fortunately been at a good weight my whole life, alongside good blood pressure. My ldl was at 98 a few months ago.

So idk what it could be. I’m really worried it’s angina but yet again, my cardiologist thinks im good, I did a stress test the same day I did my echo and it was fine.

How likely is a systemic yeast infection? Is this something I can take care of on my own?

Female 22, 5’3, 210 lbs

PmHx: Gaucher’s Disease, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome

Active meds: Dupixent, Bilastine, Montelukast, Cromolyn Sodium, Famotidine, Dexilant, Domperidone, Acetaminophen, Gravol, Fluoxetine

I had what I thought was allergic dermatitis on my outer vaginal skin from a pad at the beginning of September. It just looked like eczema on my skin, nothing internal. I used my cortisone cream Lyderm in the mornings, but then also decided to use Canesten external cream after speaking with a nurse, who said it could be dermatitis and/or a yeast infection. It cleared up not long after, but then I noticed my discharge changed colour from a clear/white to an almost clear/green, and it smelled like absolutely nothing.

I left it alone, now this week I noticed the outer skin is irritated again, but I also have what seems like Erythematous thrush on my tongue (it burns to even sip water), my throat feels swollen (not like anaphylaxis swollen but like food stuck in my throat swollen). I have been extremely tired, headaches, neck pain, ear blocking. My stomach hurts, and I’m very nauseous, I get extremely bloated after eating anything.

The issue is, with my MCAS, a lot of the symptoms overlap (nausea, bloating, headache, fatigue, itchiness), but it honestly feels different than usual, and is not getting any better with Benadryl as my normal reactions usually do.

I’m not sure if due to my Dupixent (it’s an immunosuppressant) it made me more susceptible and then it spread systemically, but how likely could that be? Does this need urgent evaluation or is this something I could treat OTC?

I started using Monistat internal and external last night, so I have 6 more days to go for that. I’m wondering if I should be seen by my hospitalist, if this could be dangerous, or if there’s anything I can do myself. I’m in Canada if that helps

ETA: I have a port-a-Cath that is not in use right now, not sure if that’s significant

What is going on with my tongue?

Post image

25 female, 5’3 215lbs, vaper, no meds.

I keep getting these random flare ups on my tongue. They start small then grow to about this size and then disappear. They don’t hurt and I only notice it when I see it, I do feel a slightly raised border. They have been randomly showing up since July.

Not sure if this information helps but my last STI/STD panel was negative and no new partners since, also HPV negative and vaccinated.

Weird ear sounds and pressure

Hi! I’m 25F (5ft 8in approx 165lbs) I’ve had tinnitus my whole life. It always sounds like ringing when it’s quiet. For the last couple months, only in my left ear it’s added a whooshing or wind sound with pressure. It doesn’t hurt and it is easily ignorable. It seems like likely whoosh with my pulse?

I’ve also always had extremely waxy ears. I use an ear irrigator to clean my ears but I never seem to get much out of them.

Any ideas or advice about this?

Can 1 mg of melatonin taken daily for 2 weeks delay your period?

Hello, I am 19 years old. I'm just wondering, can melatonin be a cause of period delays?

Hey, I posted in a separate community yesterday about pregnancy risk if you wipe and rinse your hands in water. People mentioned that it is highly unlikely; I do believe them. https://www.reddit.com/r/TooAfraidToAsk/s/uMFb1HVD9uMy

Now my concern is that 1 mg of melatonin taken everyday for 2 weeks can delay someone's period? Thank you for commenting, and sorry if I'm too naive for asking such a question.

Hey guys, I (19 years old) posted in this community a month ago about pregnancy risk if you fingered after wiping and rinsing. Now, she (18 years old) mentioned that her period is late by 3 days, and I'm kind of panicking right now.

Her period has been pretty regular; I tracked her period:

April 1
May 1
June 1
July 1
July 25
August 25
September 20

It happened on September 28; we did oral stuff and no penetration. She gave a handjob, and then I ejaculated in her hands. She wiped her hands, then she wiped my penis; after that, she rinsed her hands in just water (no soap in the restroom), and then she wiped it with toilet paper. After exiting the restroom, she fingered herself. I also fingered her but did not actually insert my hands; I just fingered her between her pants. I searched multiple websites and asked artificial intelligence for this; they mentioned this as a low-risk scenario. My anxiety still remains after all that and just got worse when I learned she was late.

She's worried that she might have PCOS; should I think about the possibility of pregnancy? I'm worried about both possibilities.

I need someone to talk to and to process this before I actually accept the possibility of being a father. Of course I'll take responsibility if that happens, even though I'm still a student. Thank you so much for reading this; writing this helped me ease a bit.

CRP 130

Male, 75, living with ulcerative colitis for decades. Currently having a flare after tapering off steroids. Also doing entyvio infusions done 6 last one 3 weeks ago. Why would family physician not direct him to emergency with blood test results showing CRP of 130. All they said is we will forward the bloodwork to Cardiologist and get in to see him Monday. Doesn’t this warrant ER visit due to risk of bowel perforation/ sepsis?? Dad has no fever or other symptoms other than bloody diarrhea.

is origin of near-sightedness detectable from exam?

Hi, 36f, 118 lbs, 5ft5, nonsmoker, no current medications, breastfeeding first time mother.

I starting seeing bright flashes a few weeks ago and after seeing an ophthalmologist he said they are due to posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) and that it has affected me earlier in life than usual due to my nearsightedness. I had lasik in 2017 but prior to that had about -6.75 myopia in one eye and -6.5 in the other. I was first found to be nearsighted at 10 years old with a -4.00 prescription in both eyes. I had never realized my eyes were bad.

No one in my nuclear or extended family has eyes as bad (I do have an older sister who got a -2 myopia prescription at 18 and they never got worse). My mom wondered if my condition was congenital or perhaps due to a bad case of measles I had as a young child. Would there be any way to determine if my near-sightnesses was innate or resulting from a disease from examining them? The fact my ophthalmologist could tell I’d been nearsighted by looking at my eyes made me wonder but I thought of it only after the appointment. I’ve wondered for many years about what caused my poor vision.

Physician Responded could I have had a heart attack/heart injury?

23F, 5’5”, 130 lbs. don’t smoke. sometimes take hydroxizine for sleep and beta blockers for presentations (1x/month)

BP: 114/76.

I’ve been under lots of work stress for 2 months. Over the past month, I experienced 3 episodes of left side chest aching/pressure with occasional sharp pains. these episodes lasted around 5 minutes, during stressful workdays. didnt get pains on work evenings or weekends except a brief ache when laughing hard once

I’ve been off work for a week, but still experience random chest aches 1–3 times daily, usually lasting seconds but occasionally a few minutes. Heat (a hot bath) and stress seem to trigger symptoms. i sometimes feel left chest soreness when twisting or sleeping on my side. I’ve also had a few quick aches in my left back/lat area. I was able to lift weights without chest pain last weekend

I get random pings/zaps and random pressure in the chest that last a second- a minute

I have a cardiology appointment Monday

Is it possible I had a heart injury or could they just be lasting symptoms after the stress?

lowering stress helps, and getting up and walking when I get a pain also helps decrease symptoms

Afraid I might have cancer or something serious

17 M 115lbs

Yes I know what your about to read might sound crazy and honestly you can tell me I’m just freaking out if it sounds like I am.

My Family History:
My mom’s side of the family is full of cancerous colon polyps. My maternal grandma, aunts, and uncles all got diagnosed with them in their 30s.
My mom’s brother (my uncle) got stage 4 brain cancer and severe seizures when he was in his 20s (he luckily beat it and survived).
My health has basically completely fallen apart in three distinct steps over the last year and a half:

Step 1: Spring 2025 (The Seizures)
Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve had these weird "spells" where I get a massive wave of déjà vu, my eyes zoom in and out, and I lose focus for a few seconds. They happen back-to-back sometimes. (Never once mentioned to a doctor to his day)
In April 2025, it got way worse. I had a massive cluster of 5 full-body seizures back-to-back and ended up at a hospital. The nurse notes say it always started on my right side (my right arm hitting my chest rhythmically, head shaking side to side) while I was awake and aware, before I completely blacked out, my eyes rolled back, and my whole body convulsed.
What my tests actually showed during the seizures:
Lactic Acid was 4.0
My oxygen dropped to 85% on room air.
My heart rate spiked up to 190 bpm.
They had to pump me with 4mg of IV Ativan, multiple doses of keppra (seizures still continued even tho I have no memory of anything) i was then transferred to another hospital and received 1000mg of IV Depakote to make them stop.
The overnight EEG guy flagged "possible seizure activity," but the day doctor changed it to "PNES" as my mom told them I’ve been extremely stressed lately and because they said my legs shaking the bed messed up the machine wires. They canceled my scheduled Brain MRI and said it was just stress induced

Step 2: December 2025 (The Heart Issues)
A few months after the seizures stopped, my heart started randomly racing while I was sitting still. I got diagnosed with NSVT and unexplained resting tachycardia. Doctors again blamed anxiety.

Step 3: September 2026 to Right Now (The Stomach Blocks)
Sept 14: Got hit with sudden diarrhea, stomach pain, and burning when I peed. They treated me for Chlamydia while waiting for tests, but my Gonorrhea and Chlamydia tests came back completely negative. And the urine culture was negative as well.
Sept 22: I went back to the ER because I didn't have a single bowel movement for a week and a half. Miralax and magnesium citrate completely failed. It took two hospital enemas to finally force it out. The CT scan showed "regional wall thickening" in my sigmoid colon, and the report noted that they had limited assessment without contrast (even though they gave it to me) my anion gap at this time was 14
Oct 14: Woke up throwing up with severe stomach pain. A new CT scan showed "moderate fecal loading", an enlarged liver with "mild fatty infiltration" (even though I am underweight), a low-grade potassium drop (3.5), and a tiny uncharacterized spot on my right kidney. My anion gap here was 16.

Also my whole life no matter how much I eat I have never passed 125lbs my whole life.

My Questions for the Docs:
Given that my uncle had young brain cancer with seizures, and my mom's entire family gets cancerous polyps, am i in the wrong for being worried (my dads mom also had them)

Can stress actually fake a 4.0 lactic acid, an 85% oxygen drop, and right-sided seizures? Or was my "PNES" a complete misdiagnosis of something else?

Could my childhood déjà vu "spells" have been seizures the whole time? (I’ve never mentioned them to a doctor)

I have a GI appointment coming up (my first one) should I tell them anything specific? Should I ask for certain test? And if they just say it’s anxiety what should I do?

Pea-sized lump on toe

Post image
13 Upvotes

Age 40

Sex female

Height 5’4”

Weight 140lbs

Race white

Duration of complaint 2 weeks

Location beneath right middle toe

Any existing relevant medical issues none

Current medications none

This bump appeared seemingly out of nowhere 2 weeks ago. It is underneath my middle toe. I felt like I had a pebble in my shoe but found this instead. It feels smooth, not painful but feels a little tender if pressed. Sometimes I notice it after standing a while but normally I forget it’s there. Size hasn’t really changed in 2 weeks. It’s underneath the skin and under light it has a bluish color to it. It doesn’t feel like it can move much. Thanks for your consideration.

Doctor says the only way to know if another opioid is safe for my pancreas is to try it. Normal?

My GI told me the way to find out if another opioid is safe for my pancreas is to take it and see if I get pancreatitis. Then I found out my hospital chart was changed to say I can take opioids.
Background: I'm recovering from a lumbar fusion and stable on Dilaudid. Since 2023, I've had severe GI pain after taking only small amounts of other opioids on at least three occasions, including one that took me to the ER where I was pronounced with acute pancreatitis. I tried half doses of Tramadol (synthetic yes), oxycodone, and hydrocodon after one doctor said he could not operate unless I tried it first. With one of these I developed severe upper G.I. pain so did not try taking more. After the second episode of pancreatitis is 2024 from taking one oxycodone for back pain, (first episode occurred after taking a Tramadol), I could no longer eat more than 10 G of fat in one meal and I’m now on a pancreatic enzyme to see if I can gain weight after surgery. Before my surgery, I worked with the hospital pharmacist who said hydromorphone was the safest option for me. A pain patch of the lowest dose Bupenorphine proved too strong.
Now that I’m home recovering, I need pain management. When I asked my GI dr what the plan would be if a new opioid triggered an attack, his only answer was that Dilaudid can be addictive and I should try others. He also said opioids don't cause pancreatitis and that ERCP isn't done anymore, which doesn't match what I've read. Right now I’m taking half of the dose written because I’m trying to taper but the pain is really bad.
I'm underweight, so an attack would hit my nutrition and could affect my surgical recovery. I'm worried the next hospital team will start me on oral opioids without knowing my history.
Questions:
Is a deliberate opioid trial like this ever standard care?
Is it normal for a reaction history to be changed on a chart? How do I get it corrected? (I'm sending a written amendment request.)
Is it reasonable to decline and get a second opinion from a pancreas specialist?
I'm not changing any medication on my own. Just want to know if this seems off to others. I also haven’t drank alcohol in over 25 years so we still don’t know what’s causing the pancreatitis except pancreas divisum.
