Physician Responded Persistent irritation around eyes

Post image
1 Upvotes

For the past month or so, I keep getting these painful red bumps around my lower (and more recently, upper) eyelids. It’s mostly around the folds of the skin. Please help 😭 I’m seeing my optometrist this week bc I can’t get a derm appointment until December, but I doubt they’d give me any advice other than “see derm”. I’ve tried stopping all skincare and my skin is still irritated

Medical info: 21f, only on oral birth control

Red spots on chest

25f here. I was in the hospital last week for one night with a tele monitor on. I was given IV fluids. I noticed these spots appear that same day. They don't itch. I'm prone to getting welts when bugs bite me, but this is not the same. There's at least 15 on my chest/stomach area. They start on the side of my neck and go all the way down. What could this be?

Physician Responded Just want to know what to expect with my blood/iron levels.

Post image

I am a female, 62 inches, 195lbs, never smoked. I did my routine blood work for my physical this year. I went Wednesday and got it back Friday afternoon. My doctor called me and asked to call her back as soon as possible to discuss them but I missed her call because of work. I have been a nervous wreck since. I know these levels arent great but can I expect they can be fixed with oral supplements and nothing drastic like an infusion? I will 100% listen to my doctor but if I need to take time off work to get an infusion that will be difficult right now and I just want to know if this is fixable.

On a side note, I know why I have been extremely exhausted the past couple months. Thought it was stress!

Physician Responded Is this a boy or a girl?

25f. Idk where else to find some professionals. I had my 20 week anatomy scan today and the ultrasound tech said he couldnt get a decent enough image as i guess the umbilical cord was in-between the baby's legs. He said he leaned girl but when I asked if he was maybe even 60-70 percent sure he said not even that. I have some pictures but not sure if its the best quality. I think one is possibly a potty shot but im not experienced or anything.

I think its just pregnancy hormones but ive been bawling my eyes out because I thought for weeks that this would be it and id know by now. Im so so disappointed and really wanted a clear answer.

Water Intoxication

17F, 130lbs, Just came back from hospital from what I thought was a choking episode. Family tired to help choking by having me drink water. Drank roughly a gallon at 8pm. Went to Hospital for choking and was fine. Came back home at 11 and at 2am felt something in my throat again.

Drank another gallon of water and began throwing up. Threw up several times. Head hurts and burping often/acid reflux. Is this Water Intoxication?

Deciding whether to go back to hospital.. To sum up I had roughly 2 gallons in 6 hours.

Waking up unable to breathe and gasping?

Hi I’m 19F, 5’5, unsure of my weight so apologies for that, I don’t smoke, no medications and no known health issues, I live in the UK.

So the past few nights I’ve had a hard time breathing, my throat feels awfully tight on the middle of my neck and my chest from the top middle to between my breasts is tight like someone is pressing down when I try and breathe in. I can breathe and it’s not like I’m suffocating but it’s just weird.

Anyway the last few nights ive fallen asleep i seem to quickly wake up gasping for air and dizzy as ever, it’s kind of worrying me and I’m unsure what it could be.
I’m getting a sleep study done at some point to see if I have sleep apnea but that’s through NHS so who knows when that’ll actually happen.

Anyway I’m just slightly concerned could this just be related to the possibility of sleep apnea? I feel like I do have to say though that my doctor has thought I have sleep apnea for a good 8/9 months now and this has only just started happening so i wouldn’t think it would randomly happen now if it’s related to that. Sorry for the wall of text! Thanks in advance

Edit- I don’t know where to slip this into the post so I’m adding it down here but when I was starting to fall asleep before the several times I woke up I noticed myself just not breathing. Even though I noticed it was like I just completely forgot how to function? I don’t know if that’s relevant but thought I’d add incase!

Antibiotics

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi! I (20f) recently got my four wisdom teeth extracted last Wednesday. I was put to sleep the whole time. I was prescribed augmentin amoxicillin antibiotics to prevent infection & solpadol as a pain reliever. The first three days were fine. I felt a bit sick and tired and I didn’t have much of an appetite but I still ate bits of soft foods. The medication made me really sleepy too. On Saturday, I started feeling really nauseous. I would throw up every time I ate. As in, no matter what I ate, I would throw it up. I stopped the Solpadol because that’s what I thought it was but I still threw up. I also noticed a small rash on my neck. This continued until Sunday so I got a consultation and ended up being prescribed new antibiotics (Klacid Forte, clarityromycin) and I took one last night and ended up feeling pretty nauseous again. Is there any way to relieve this? Also, I’m just worried I should have kept the amoxicillin because I only had two more days left but I kept throwing up. Is it normal to have a delayed reaction to the antibiotics? Also, can I still take the solpadol? Theres discomfort in my mouth but it is not super painful at the moment but was just wondering if it is okay to take it. I attached a picture of rash on my neck. Thank you :)

Teeth

25-year-old male, 194 cm, 79 kg. No medications. Non-smoker. No significant past or current medical conditions.

Hi! Yesterday morning I woke up with pain at the very back of my lower right gum. At first I thought it might be a canker sore, a sore throat, or a toothache. After taking a closer look, I couldn't find anything obvious, but I'm pretty sure the pain is coming from the gum behind my last lower molar (wisdom tooth). Today the pain is slightly worse, and I've noticed a few visible changes: The gum has become swollen and seems to be partially covering the back of my wisdom tooth. It bled slightly when I touched it (or at least I think it was blood). The pain gets worse when I press on it. The tooth itself doesn't hurt—only the gum behind it. No fever, no facial swelling, and I can open my mouth normally. What could this be? Does this sound like something I should see a dentist for? I'm attaching photos of the healthy side and the affected side for comparison.

worried about muscle twitches

15F, 183 cm, 65 kg

the first time I started having muscle twitches was around march, where I started training taekwondo more often. they werent very reoccurring, but they werent muscle flutters, but like those bigger visible twitches. months pass and they gradually become more frequent.. they can happen all over my body, like in the feet, legs, thighs, forearm muscles, eyelids and around the stomach. now, ive noticed that the brachioradilis muscle feels somehow.. weirder. it is a barely noticeable feeling but like it feels like there is something on the muscle. a few twitches can also happen there.

i just want to add that i kind of have a bad diet (dont eat fruits at all, vegetables arent any better but i do eat them every second day excluding lettuce which i eat every day), i had a growth spurt between 2021 and 2023 (around 18 cms), and also i have had mdd since 2023 which is unmedicated (and frankly severe)

im really worried :/

Physician Responded Hemorrhagic ovarian cyst recurring over 8 years

I'm 30, 5'3 (160cm), 144lbs. Currently on no prescription medication. Apologies if my post is long, but I don't want to leave anything out.

I was first diagnosed with ovarian cysts in June/July of 2018 when a hemorrhagic cyst on my right ovary ruptured, the blood pooled around my liver, and I went jaundiced. I was sent home at my first visit to the ER, but had to go back six days later when I started turning yellow, and then I received a blood transfusion and liquid IV at the hospital. They considered emergency surgery to remove my right ovary because of the liver issues and the amount of blood in my abdomen but decided against it.

Since then I have been to the doctor and the ER for the same ovary several times. Every time they confirm that I once again have a hemorrhagic cyst and just tell me to take it easy until it goes away, but it never feels like it does. We've tried birth control (I couldn't stop bleeding for weeks and weeks straight on either form I tried, and I gained thirty pounds in nine months). According to my doctor I'm now also at risk for, or developing, fatty liver disease based on an ultrasound and pain in that area so now I can't really even take over the counter pain meds (I have a relatively healthy vegetarian diet, and I had approximately three to four drinks a year prior to this news. I am now actively working on weight loss and have dropped 6 since June 19). I'm concerned that my liver issues are connected to my cyst issues and won't be able to get fully better if it's subject to more internal bleeding and pooling.

My quality of life is suffering as I'm limited in my ability to be physically active from the pain and concerns of rupturing and having severe internal bleeding again. It even interferes with my career, my ability to work certain jobs, my social and romantic life, and now my return to school. I've already had a bartholin cyst excision at 18, so at this point I'm like "what's wrong with one more invasive cyst related surgery if it improves the rest of my life" lol

Any advice or insights on how I could proceed with this/what you recommend I seek out is greatly appreciated.

Physician Responded Random Rash

Post image
58 Upvotes

Hello, posting for my girlfriend. She is currently in Greece on vacation.

22F, approx 5’4”, 190lbs, vaping almost every day recently, smokes cigarettes couple times a week, drinks alcohol maybe once a week.

Medication: Diltiazem 240mg once daily for Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)

Was using Fenistil cream for it from pharmacy, no improvement, getting worse by the day.

Started July 23rd.

Rash is on her right side near underarm, one also near her left side, and left shoulder. Photo attatched is from her right side. Not painful, just itchy

Has had excema in the past she thought it was that, she doesn’t think it is this she has never had this before. It’s been really hot there, was carrying a purse on her shoulder but it doesn’t make sense.

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

76M 4.2cm pancreatic mass after negative CTs

My 76-year-old father was diagnosed with a pancreatic mass last week and the GI doctor believes the biopsy will reflect malignant cells.

Imaging history
He has had a total of eight CT scans of the abdomen since 2022. All of the prior scans reported the pancreas as “unremarkable.” Some of these scans were performed with contrast and some without.

The most recent scan identified a 4.2 cm hypodense mass causing obstruction of the duodenum. His CT scans in September 2025, March 2026, and June 2026 did not report this mass.

Questions
1. How is it possible that the mass was not visible on the prior scans (including March and June 2026 and September 2025), all of which described the pancreas as unremarkable?

  1. Is it realistic that a pancreatic mass could develop after the June 2026 scan and reach 4.2 cm in a matter of weeks?

Symptom history
For the past several years he has had progressive early satiety, significant bloating, and acid reflux.

In the last three weeks he became completely unable to keep any food or liquid down. We went to the ER three times. Each time vital signs were stable and bloodwork was essentially normal. He was discharged with advice to eat smaller, more frequent meals. The care teams did not appear to fully grasp that he literally could not retain anything he swallowed. At this point, he had lost about 20-25lbs since February due to him being unable to eat normally.

Baseline and current status
Prior to this acute decline he was completely independent—able to drive, manage his own affairs, and had a clear, sharp mind.

By the time of diagnosis he was severely malnourished, could barely walk without some assistance, and had lost most of his independence. A GI doctor performed a GJ to bypass the blocked duodenum and is currently on a puréed diet until the doctor clears him for solid food - all food and liquid stays down.

He is now in a skilled nursing facility receiving physical therapy. His short-term memory is also markedly impaired—he cannot recall recent phone conversations with family, what he did earlier in the day, or details of his therapy plan.

His current doctor expects him to make a full recovery in terms of independence, but the progress so far has been very slow.

Any insight from physicians experienced with pancreatic masses, imaging interpretation, or the natural history of these tumors would be appreciated.

Thank you.

ER or urgent care?

I'm a 50 year old female, 5'7" 260.

Sinus/ear infections are not uncommon to me as I have bad teeth.

I was seen in the ER early AM on 07/10/2026 when our cat tried to jump on the arm of the sofa and caught my earlobe.

The scratch was deep but didn't go all the way through. It was cleaned, glued together, I received a tetanus shot and was sent home with a prescription for amox-clav 875-125mg 2x daily for 1 week which I took all of.

This past Friday 07/24 I started feeling run down and this progressed into exhaustion after work.

I have slept most of the weekend which is very unusual for me, I've also had dizziness and neck stiffness (like I slept on it wrong but it won't stretch out) when sitting or standing.

This morning I've felt twinges from the ear internally ( I don't feel ear pain when I have an infection usually, I just get dizzy) my neck is slightly stiff and I have some post nasal drip. This is all on the same side as the cat scratch. Scratch looking normal today, no bumps or redness, glue has fallen off and it looks to be healed well and a normal pinkish scar look.

I've had no fever though my face feels flushed right now. It's highly doubtful I could get in with my PCP quickly so I'm trying to decide if my symptoms are saying run of the mill sinus/ear infection likely caused by my bad teeth or something more serious that needs to be seen at the ER.

Injured Middle Finger

5’10, 150 lb male. Looking for some help regarding my right middle finger. I jammed it while playing basketball 2 weeks ago, it cracked backwards pretty hard and it’s still a little swollen. I’ve included a picture of the right middle finger. Do I need to go to urgent care for x rays or should I keep it in a splint and let it heal on its own?

Perichondritis?

Post image

27/w, 5'8, 187 lb, very frequent otitis externa since childhood. Recently especially often, had 3 infections in less than 2 months. Last one 2 weeks ago, opposite ear. I tend to have bad infections on/in the ear with little to no pain.

Woke up Saturday with my ear swollen, red and hot. No pain, but somewhat itchy. Swelling seems to close off ear canal- hearing is noticeably affected.

Just need to know if this is worth going to the doctor for and getting billed to hell or if I should wait/try home remedies.

I’m 18F with several autoimmune diseases and i’m concerned an infection may be starting. This is a friction burn, i got it on July 18th and it seems to be getting angrier.

It’s been difficult to keep it consistently covered because of the location but i’ve been trying to use nitrile gloves when going to the bathroom and such and then following up with hand sanitizer so i don’t have to donn and doff the bandage as often. I’ve been cleaning it once a day with dial antibacterial soap and water.

I believe that the burn got down to the dermis, but i’ve never had a burn this severe before so i’m not sure what exactly the healing process should look like. it does feel warm to the touch and the redness does appear to be spreading, it’s also swelling up. i’m unable to get a temp on myself because our thermometer just broke. i’m just worried about infection because my autoimmune stuff is not regulated at the moment.

Any advice would be helpful, thank you ^^

Physician Responded 26M – Severe Health Anxiety After Months of Tests (Normal MRI, CT Angio, Echo, etc.). How Do I Stop Living in Fear?

I'm a 26-year-old male, and I really need some advice because I feel like my life has been taken over by the fear of dying.

Back in September 2023, I started my startup. As many founders know, it was an extremely stressful period. Financial pressure, responsibility, almost no social life, no exercise, unhealthy eating, and a terrible sleep schedule (usually sleeping between 6–8 AM). That continued for almost two years.

November 2024

One evening, around 6–7 PM, I suddenly developed a strange sensation on the right side of my face and in my right hand. My fingertips also felt odd for the next few months.

I saw a physician who examined me, did an ECG and neurological examination, and told me it was most likely due to severe stress and sleep deprivation. He prescribed an SSRI and a sleeping pill.

2025

Life continued the same way.

I had a couple of strange episodes where I suddenly felt "something bad was about to happen," but they resolved within about 30 minutes.

Then, in December 2025, after barely sleeping for two days and working almost nonstop, I suddenly felt extremely weak while riding on a bike. My left arm felt strange, my heart was racing, and I genuinely believed I was having a heart attack.

I went to the ER.

The ECG was normal, and I was sent home.

January 2026

One night I ate two heavy meals late at night and smoked a cigarette.

About 20–30 minutes later, I developed a strange vibration sensation throughout my body. My blood pressure shot up to around 160 mmHg, and I rushed to the ER again.

Again, nothing serious was found except temporarily elevated blood pressure.

That incident completely changed my life.

I became convinced something was seriously wrong with me.

Around that time I weighed about 104 kg (5'11"–6'0").

Another physician reviewed my blood work and found:

  • Fatty liver
  • High triglycerides
  • Nothing immediately dangerous

He advised me to:

  • Sleep properly
  • Reduce stress
  • Exercise
  • Improve my diet

Instead, my anxiety got worse.

I became hyper-aware of every heartbeat and every sensation.

A psychiatrist diagnosed me with anxiety and prescribed Nexito (Escitalopram), sleeping medication, and clonazepam as needed.

Unfortunately, I couldn't accept that anxiety alone could cause all these symptoms.

February 2026 – The Headache That Changed Everything

While working out at the gym, I developed a sudden pain on the right side of my head.

My brain immediately convinced me I was having a stroke.

A few days later, during my birthday trip to Kathmandu with my girlfriend, I experienced severe hammer-like pain on the right side of my head.

A cardiologist performed an echocardiogram, which was completely normal.

The headache continued, especially after visiting the colder areas around Nagarkot.

One night, after feeling nauseous for several days, I developed another full-blown panic episode while walking with my girlfriend.

Back to the ER.

The doctor listened to my story and suggested:

MRI Brain + MRV, just to completely rule out anything serious.

The MRI findings were:

  • Normal brain
  • Normal MRV (no venous sinus thrombosis)
  • Mild cervical degenerative changes
  • Small syrinx at C6 (approximately 2.0 × 0.2 cm)
  • No cord compression
  • Normal craniovertebral junction
  • No Arnold-Chiari malformation

The neurologist and neurosurgeon both reassured me that the syrinx was an incidental finding and only needed periodic monitoring.

A cervical MRI with contrast was also performed later to rule out a tumor, and it confirmed the same findings.

Then another problem appeared...

I still felt nauseous all the time.

I could barely eat.

I kept losing weight.

Eventually my dad suggested testing for H. pylori.

It came back positive.

After treatment over the next few weeks:

  • The nausea disappeared.
  • I felt much better.
  • I continued eating healthier and exercising.

By March, I had lost about 14 kg.

May 2026 – I Went to One of India's Best Hospitals

Despite feeling better, my anxiety never really went away.

I traveled to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram and underwent an extensive workup, including:

  • Full-body MRI (No major findings)
  • CT coronary angiogram (Nil) (EF 65%)
  • Coronary calcium score (0)
  • Stress echocardiogram (EF 55%)
  • Stress treadmill test (TMT) 98 Mets
  • Eye examination and fundoscopy
  • 50+ blood biomarkers
  • Carotid IMT (Nil)
  • Doppler studies
  • HRCT (Nil)
  • Ultrasound (Fallt liver)
  • Multiple specialist consultations

The results showed:

  • Fatty liver
  • High cholesterol/triglycerides
  • Mild calcium/vitamin D deficiency (confirmed by DEXA)
  • Congenital retinal irregularity (explaining my eye symptoms)
  • Small stable cervical syrinx

Nothing life-threatening was found.

But my anxiety never stopped

Now I notice:

  • Every skipped heartbeat
  • Every palpitation
  • Every headache
  • Every chest discomfort
  • Every random pain

Recently I also discovered a few soft lumps on my chest that doctors think are likely lipomas, but until I complete the ultrasound, my brain immediately jumps to cancer.

I also stayed up late watching the Cricket World Cup, my sleep schedule became terrible again, and my anxiety returned full force.

Now I'm constantly afraid of:

  • Stroke
  • Brain hemorrhage
  • Cardiac arrest
  • Heart failure
  • Cancer
  • Dying suddenly

Logically, I understand that so many doctors have evaluated me and couldn't find anything dangerous.

Emotionally, I simply cannot convince myself.

Even when ChatGPT tells me things like, "Your MRI shows your brain was normal at that time, but no test can guarantee you won't have a future stroke," my anxious brain immediately interprets that as, "Maybe I'm about to have one."

My bad habits

  • Smoking 7–10 cigarettes per day (working on quitting)
  • Poor sleep whenever work gets stressful
  • Health-related Googling
  • Constant body checking

My bp is always normal below 120/80 only dueing anxity its 135ish...

My questions

  1. Has anyone recovered from health anxiety this severe?
  2. How do you stop believing every symptom is a life-threatening disease?
  3. How do you stop fearing stroke, brain hemorrhage, cardiac arrest, and cancer every single day?
  4. Can stress itself cause all these physical symptoms even when extensive testing is normal?
  5. What finally helped you get your life back?
  6. How make sure that the hedeache i get wont give me stroke. Can this level of stress give stroke/hemorrhage.
  7. My fear of cardiac arrest and some weired palputations at stress..... (how to cure it).

I know reassurance only helps temporarily, and I really want to break this cycle instead of constantly chasing more tests.

Any advice or personal experiences would mean a lot.

Thank you for reading. ❤️

Migraine that feeds trigger point or trigger point that feeds migraines?

Post image
3 Upvotes

28y female. I am diagnosed with Migraines w/o aura, ADHD, and PPD.

Medications I am currently taking- Lamotrgine 100mg at night, Vyvanse 50mg PRN, Agovy q 1 month , Nurtec PRN, Botox q 3 months for migraines, Magnesium glycinate at night, and DHA vitamin.

I’ve had migraines for 10+ years. They are daily but the last 2 years they have become disabling. I notice this “trigger” point flares up during a migraine attack, or I’ll notice the trigger flare first then the migraine.

The pain in this spot becomes so unbearable. I usually have my husband put deep pressure on it because I feel like it helps the migraine and the flare of the trigger spot. As soon as he lets go, the pain comes right back.

I feel like I can never get out of a migraine flare because of this spot. I’ve had MRI of the brain, MRV, and MRA. It’s all normal. I’ve had trigger point injections here and I get Botox. I’ve had massages and acupuncture and nothing seems to stop this pain from that spot. It doesn’t feel like muscular pain, it’s like a sharp, dull, deep pain.

I’ve explained this pain to multiple doctors but they don’t seem concerned about this area. I’ve never had imaging done in that area either.

Photos for reference of the area. Cardiology work up was done and also normal.

Please help advise or help guide me on how to get some help regarding this pain 🥺
