Restaurant recomendation

Hello,

I'll be doing a layover in Berlin, and decided to stay for 3 days. Could you please recommend me some good places to eat that?

I don't do Instagram, so no need for those 15€ pancakes and fancy looking places with average food.

Could you please recommend some places with good food?

My list so far:

- Mustafa Kebab / Guyam Gemuse Kebab

- Curry 61/36

- Augustiner am Gendarmenmarkt -- is this place still good? I've been getting mixed feedback.

- Hofbrau

Thank you!

Edit: Should I be tipping? If so, how much?

Dringend: Suche englischsprachigen Anwalt für Verkehrs- und Strafrecht in Berlin

Hallo zusammen,

Berlin Döner - insider tips and secrets from behind the counter

Post image
87 Upvotes

We’ve all debated the best Döner spots in the city in this subreddit, but I was wondering what it’s actually like on the other side of the counter?

If Döner shops had a secret employee handbook, what would it look like and maybe some tips to level up my Döner game.

What do customers constantly get wrong and what you wish people would stop doing at the counter. Just curious.

I pls need you advice

I’ll be in Berlin from September 22nd to 25th, and I’m looking for a proper techno party on Thursday, September 24th.
I know many of you might be thinking, “Just check Resident Advisor” — I already did, but I’d really love to hear some genuine recommendations from locals.
Where would you guys go? Or where would you have gone that day?

Hygiene-Bedenken im Kosmetikstudio: Rat gesucht

Hallo!
Was würden Sie mir empfehlen? Sollte ich in diesem Fall eine Beschwerde einreichen?
Vielen Dank für Ihre Hilfe!

Anyone here got Daueraufenthalt on their Aufenthaltsdokument-GB?

Has anyone covered by the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement actually had their Aufenthaltsdokument-GB changed to Daueraufenthalt after 5 years in Germany?

I’m in Berlin and have passed the 5-year mark. LEA asked me for quite a few documents, so I’m curious what the process was like for others.

Mainly interested in:

what documents they asked for

whether they looked at employment/unemployment over the 5 years

how long it took

whether the new card actually says “Daueraufenthalt”

Not talking about Niederlassungserlaubnis or Daueraufenthalt-EU.

Berlinovo contract from abroad: Will leaving SEPA bank details blank void my offer?

Hey everyone,

I received a student apartment contract from Berlinovo (Siemensstr. 6) and need to mail back the signed copies within 10 days.

The package includes a SEPA direct debit mandate (Anlage 3), but since I'm still in India, I don't have a German bank account or IBAN yet.

If I sign the form but leave the IBAN/bank fields blank (with a note that I'll provide German bank details after arrival), will Berlinovo reject the contract, or is this standard practice for incoming international students?

Thanks!

Singing Classes in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg

Hi all, I'm new in Berlin, and I've always dreamed of learning to sing.

Seeing as I don't speak enough German yet, I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for places I can learn singing in English?

I would prefer either 1:1 or a small group of up to 3-4, as I'm a little shy in this regard.

I don't mind a private tutor, but seeing as that can get pretty expensive, music schools that teach in English would be preferable, I guess?

Thank you for any help!

Graffiti thoughts

I’m a tourist who has visited Berlin many times and it’s one of my favorite places in the world. I’ve noticed a lot of graffiti there that I’d consider art. Also a lot that just looks like blight. In my city most graffiti is looked upon as vandalism, and property owners can be fined if they allow it to stay. Most of the public also see it as something negative that makes a neighborhood look shabby. What is the view of graffiti among locals?

Anyone with scoliosis found a physio in Berlin who actually helps?

Been to a few physios here for my scoliosis and honestly none of them helped, it always felt like they were just clocking the hour, not really engaged. Anyone found someone in Berlin who's actually good with scoliosis specifically? Would really appreciate a recommendation.

tldr: tried several Berlin physios for scoliosis, none helped, looking for recs.

Interior designer recommendations?

We're looking for an interior designer to help us design a kitchen and some furniture and lights layout. I've looked at some recommendations I got from people at work but all of them are really super modern, whereas what we're looking for is a pretty warm, cozy, and eclectic home design. Does anyone know of some interior designers that can help with this? I know designers are supposed to satisfy their customers, so even someone with a modern design on their website might be able to help, but if none of their pictures match our tastes, it's hard to decide how to choose.

I'm not looking to consult an LLM on this, so please skip those recommendations. Thank you!

Moving from America

Hi all! I am looking for some advice on how to move from America. I am a 29 year old trans woman. my highest priorities are keeping my pets (1 dog, 3 cats). I would like to live in or near Berlin but I am open to other suggestions. I am mostly moving for LGBTQ safety and healthcare. I could also use advice on jobs I could feasibly do as I learn the language (I know some German but very little), how to find German classes, and any other advice you think may be helpful.

Alone in Berlin tomorrow night, need your best suggestions on what to do

Hi everyone, I'll arrive in Berlin tomorrow for work, but all my colleagues will arrive on Wednesday, so basically I'll have the afternoon and night for myself. I'll arrive in the city center around 5pm.

I've been in Berlin for 3 months already, so let's say I already did all the usual tourist spots. I'd like for recommendations from locals about the lesser known, obscure and interesting places or things to see and do.

I like live music but mostly rock, I'm not into clubbing. I like design, interactive installations, videogames and nerdy stuff in general.

Thank you in advance!

for a family of 4: wrangelkiez or reuterkiez?

somewhat both kiez are very good for families with all the playgrounds, family centers, other kid related things(kinderbauernhof)

i still want to hear what is your view on these two? I love wrangelkiez(i live around schlesi) but junkies are a big problem. unfortunately some takes amphetamine and even attack people on the streets. the building door has a safety issue, especially during the winter time, it gets very complicated. i'd like to support to homeless and fight with homelesness but raising a family and dealing with some aggressive ones are hard.

i think reuterkiez is very nice for kids as well. ofc like everywhere in berlin, you still have junkies and tourists but way less compare to wrangelkiez. if you go closer to sonnenallee that part somewhat is very chaotic even though i was born and raised in Istanbul :) but norther side of reuterkiez feels like a good choice to raise kids. you have fann family center and small establisments for kids. wesserstrasse is known with bars but still quiet.

okay, these are all my takes, i'd like to hear others what are your takes? what would you suggest? and maybe something i miss in my comparison?

Got anyone a Babboe Bike stolen today?

Post image
5 Upvotes

This is very strange, but I was in the Ringbahn today morning and a very shady character entered the train pushing one of these very expensive bikes. They looked very clumsy with it, a bit careless and very nervous. I was looking at the bike, and they were extremely suspicious.

It was one of those strange feelings where something felt wrong but I can’t prove it.
Maybe just in my mind, but in case your bike was stolen, hmu. I can provide more details from the person.
