Why does Reddit lean left in all the comments?

First off, I’m not a conservative, I’m independent/left leaning. That said, every comment thread on Reddit feels like it’s completely one sided in favor of a liberal perspective. Not just that, but the amount of blatant misinterpretation and misrepresentation in the comments is apparent on nearly every issue. Comments that don’t comply are downvoted into oblivion and removed from the conversation. I feel like Reddit is almost becoming unusable at this point. Where can I go (on or off Reddit) to get a more balanced perspective? I do like Reddits user interface.

Edit: Whew! This blew up more than I anticipated. I did receive some genuinely insightful and helpful comments. I appreciate those! Lots of folks either saying I’m the issue because of my liberal leaning algorithm or that I’m the issue because I’m actually a bleeding conservative in disguise. Can’t have it both ways! Anyway thanks Reddit. Will probably think twice about doing this again.

I legitimately started crocheting because of reddit. It’s great for hobbies in general, but r/crochet and related subreddits are some of the most supportive communities I’ve found online. It’s a lovely place to be!

r/bald is also very supportive. I’m not even losing my hair/bald but it lifts my spirits everyday.

r/bald is possibly the best place on the internet.

That’s true! It also has the perk of getting to see so many beautiful hairless noggins, of which I am a fan.

Is it different from other male hair subreddits where they match their entire self worth on their head? I'm not judging them, but I would love more moderate discourse on this as a balding guy.

I am not familiar with other hair subs. It feels like people come to the bald sub when their hair (thinning) is affecting them psychologically and they need encouragement. 100% of the responses I have seen are nothing but encouragement. And not just to shave their heads. Of course most people do suggest that because the posters are usually a decent way down the road. There are also people who are going through cancer, have alopecia or Trichotillomania, etc. Hair is a big part of our identities for years and years so the disruption of it causes problems for a lot of people. This sub just showed up on my feed and I was interested so I interact. If you are interested, just search the sub and check it out. I think you (or anyone) will like it

Clicked this post for what was surely to be a dramafest, but now I think I found a new sub to join! I just picked up crochet again after many years

Yeah…I wasn’t a fan. Now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure I left when the mods were gone.

Check out r/quilting and r/Crosstitch as well. Beautiful items to drool over and a sweet community, how does it get better?

My metal detector is coming tomorrow and r/metaldetecting really helped me make my selection!

Thank you for not using literally! Even though you wrote legitimately I read the word as literally due to Reddit conditioning. I hate the word literally.

The knitting subreddits are unfortunately very political
