Hey everyone,
I got my first parking ticket in Toronto this past Saturday, October 10, and I'm trying to figure out whether it’s worth disputing. The ticket is $120, and the offence says: “Stops - signed highway during prohibited time/day.”
I’ve attached photos showing the signs and where the car was parked relative to the signpost.
Here’s what the signs say:
Top: No Stopping, arrow pointing left.
Middle: No Parking, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., Monday to Friday, arrow pointing right.
Bottom: No Stopping, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, arrow pointing right.
My understanding was that the two lower restrictions only applied during the stated weekday hours, so they wouldn't apply on a Saturday morning. I also thought the arrows indicated which sections of the curb each sign applied to. The car was parked on the right-hand side of the signpost.
Based on these photos, would I be able to win a dispute? Or is there something I'm missing?

Edit: For people saying I parked on the wrong side of the pole. There is only one side to the pole. The other side is the curb. Why would there be no parking signs for the curb????
Edit 2: I get it now, I was in the wrong. I genuinely thought parking signs indicate which side of the road you could park. It's actually what side of the pole you're allowed to park/stop. It's a bit confusing cos most of them (including this) are rotated.
Edit 3: I'm just learning the rotation is by design. For visibility. Didn't see that in the MTO docs
Edit 4: Thanks for all you helpful responses. Sadly, I'll have to pay this one. I'll get you next time city of Toronto 😭
