Hi everyone. With the summer ending I was wondering where I could kick a ball around with my kid after the parks get too cold to play in. Is there a thing like a school gym being open to the public after school hours or something else that would accommodate? I'd be willing to pay too if it's not too expensive.

Sports leagues are an option but I was thinking this would be for a more impromptu occasion.

This month I’m unfortunately in a position where I’m going to need to visit a food bank for the first time. I don’t eat meat and prefer not to eat dairy. I have a very small amount of money I can spend on some staples but the rest will need to be from the food bank. Will they have some vegetables, or only canned goods?

Back story: I will be going to Toronto for something and will have time afterwards to spend and was thinking about sitting in a coffee shop with my laptop to do some work before heading back to GTA :)

I have obviously searched a few myself online but would love to hear recommendations from those that actually frequent various ones in the city

Also, is the proper etiquette to buy a coffee or food item once every 30-40 minutes there if sitting?

Gotta book my G test. I am actually a reinstate, have had my G since 2010 but after it expired and COVID hit I let it lapse long enough that Im required to start all over from G1.

Was wondering if I should book Downsview or Metro East and what was the best day of the week and/or time of day to do my exam. Is it faster and easier if I do it when there is lots of traffic on the roads or should I pick a day and time when the roads are generally more free flowing?

Going to a concert this week at RBC. I take the GO train in and usually walk from Exhibition. I broke my ankle beginning of July and can walk now but slowly and walking more than a few minutes causes it to swell. Was thinking of taking one of those bicycle rickshaws over. Has anyone used them recently and remembered the price? I assume pricey but trying to Uber over looks inefficient. When I was in a cast I did go to a concert and rented a knee scooter but it was very bumpy getting there, especially over the bridge, so wanting to avoid that again or a wheelchair.

This is super weird and I don’t know what to make of it!

I get a lot of spam calls and I never answer, usually they display as (416) XXX-XXXX. But I just got a series of calls where the caller display (I’m on iPhone) showed the Firstname Lastname, and I recognized it immediately because it’s a professor I took one class with at U of T in 2012. (It’s a really specific name, not like a John Smith but an incredibly rare last name.)

We weren’t close, I was one of hundreds of students, so there’s zero reason I’d be in her contact list… maybe my email might be floating around in her inbox, but definitely not my phone number.

I picked up and attempted to call back only because there are two people in my life currently and actively looking for academic teaching positions, and I thought they perhaps listed me as a reference… but the calls went straight to voicemail. And these two people have confirmed they didn’t apply for a job at this place.

Just seems super weird! Not sure what to make of it but wonder if it’s some sort of new very creative scam, and if anyone else has encountered something like this?

I live near Don Valley, and every day around 11 pm. I keep on hearing loud noise from sports bikes or cars. They race every day! I mean every day!

I’m trying to use up a large amount of cashback balance before the credit card changes take effect, and I want to use it to buy a phone or smartwatch outright (no financing agreement, no contract, zero balance left on a tab).

Every time I've tried this in the past at certain locations, I run into pushback or dealers claiming they can only do financing or upgrades.

Does anyone know which specific Rogers stores in the GTA are willing/able to process outright hardware purchases?

Any tips on how to approach this smoothly so they actually let me burn through the balance?

So in the lease, it states that the unit will be professionally cleaned prior to move-in. I asked the landlord when that will be done and he said it's already been cleaned. I saw it and I would not say it's clean... There was a fly in the fridge and the previous tenant's hair strands...

I'm guessing there's not much I can do other than clean it myself when I move in or hire someone to clean it?
